Store front after denying my parents entrance to the restaurant because off of me

My family and I recently visited Alta Strada in Boston, and we had an unfortunate experience that I feel is worth sharing. While the ambiance of the restaurant was nice and the menu looked promising, we ran into a pretty big hiccup. We had brought along a small portion of chicken nuggets for our child, who can be a picky eater and sometimes just needs something familiar. Unfortunately, the staff told us that they don't allow any outside food whatsoever, even for a child, and we ended up having to leave because our kiddo just wasn't going to eat anything else. I understand restaurant policies about outside food, but I do think a little flexibility for a small child's dietary needs would have gone a long way. So just a heads-up to families with picky eaters: you might want to check ahead or be prepared for that policy. It was disappointing, and we ended up having to dine elsewhere.

Food was good simple, and location very convenient. Was shocked to see so many horrible reviews when I went to post this one. I've been here a few times now waiting on flights. I'll be back.

This is the furthest $23 (19 plus tax and tip I believe) has ever gotten me in the airport. Feeds two people if they're not super hungry. 10 minutes, hot and cooked well. 9/10 by airport standards, 5/10 in the real world. Pizza is pizza. Came here because I saw a rat at B good and decided not to order food

Nice place to grab something to eat or drink while waiting for your flight to arrive. If you're lucky you'll get Barbara to serve you with her big smile. It has airport prices with healthy choices on the menu.

Such polite staff, God food and a nice atmosphere. Wasn't expecting great food and service in a busy airport and I was pleasantly surprised. Make the trip to Terminal A

Always delicious, always slow. Been here for several pre flight meals here. Chicken Alfredo is amazing. Bar staff is all over it, table service is not.

My expectation for airport dining is so low, but Alta Strada is pretty decent. I ordered a glass of wine and a baby arugula salad, which was nothing fancy; just arugula, parmesan, and some light dressing. Super filling portion, and the service was very fast. They have tables, but I opted to sit at the bar. As a plus, they have multiple TVs, which was nice because I wanted to watch football before my flight. Will definitely come here again if I fly out of BOS.

Was pretty hungry after my flight and decided to grab a bite at the airport. I stored here after seeing they had a fennel sausage pizza. It sounds so good right? But it's just ok, it had the potential to be great, but it's kinda dry and slightly overcooked on the crust

Surprisingly very good for airport food. Salad was much bigger then expected and we were able to share and have some leftover. The cheese and tomato plate was good. The pepperoni pizza had wonderful crust. Would have been better with more cheese but it was still very good. Good space and able to put luggage by table with no issues.

    Turkey and avocado sandwich

I stopped by here earlier today by myself for lunch. I happened to by flying on Delta and my terminal was right across from Alta Strata and so I figured I would give it a try. It's a seat yourself place and although there are open tables, as a party of 1, I chose a seat at the bar. This restaurant has a large square bar near the walkway in the terminal with two TVs above the bar. Then behind that they have plenty of table seating with 4 more TVs, all of which had on the cubs game this afternoon. For lunch on this day I decided to go with the turkey and avocado sandwich. Upon ordering I was told that they were out of fries and that they would substitute chips instead. I later heard that they were also out of tagliatelle, sausage, arugula and tomatoes. My sandwich came out relatively quickly and for the price I have to admit that I was a little disappointed in the size of it. Yes it was stacked high with lunch meat turkey but it was on a plain old burger bun. Besides the turkey there was bacon, avocado, lettuce (out of arugula), cheese and a chipotle Mayo. It tasted well enough, although with it being cold, it felt like something I would pack in a lunch to work. The chips themselves were also cold and I assume from a bag as they tasted along the lines of kettle chips. So I don't think any actual cooking was done with my meal which for $16.75 seems like a lot. Of course they do have a captive audience. The bottom line for me is that I probably wouldn't come back here again. My sandwich itself was ok, but they were out of tons of items and my sandwich itself could have been just as easily grabbed from a grab and go spot.

One small thing -- maybe it was just me, but the entrance was a little difficult to find at first since it's mainly just a door from the outside. There were also tables seated very close to the entrance, which made it feel a bit cramped and awkward walking in and out. Our waiter was friendly and nice, though the service did feel a little rushed at times. That said, the food was absolutely delicious. We started with the calamari to share, and it was beautifully prepared -- crispy, fresh, and not overly heavy. For my entree, I ordered the seafood pasta and really loved it. The seafood tasted fresh, the pasta was cooked perfectly, and the flavors all came together really well.

The menu refers to these as "Greek cheese bread" but somehow that doesn't do it justice - these were immensely pillowy and cheesy, with an amazing crust, with homemade honey butter on the side. I could have had just these for dinner and been satisfied. They really nailed the bread. My other favorites: 1. Hipiti: spicy whipped feta with crispy potatoes on the side. I don't do well with spice but I absolutely loved this. 2. Marouli: winter lettuce with the most amazing vinaigrette dressing. My only knock to this is, presentation-wise, they serve it with half of the plate empty and the other half with salad. I don't understand why restaurants do this because - one, it only highlights the smaller portion and two, we're just going to mix the salad all around in the bowl anyway. 3. Boudeto: daily catch in a beautiful tomato broth. For a seafood dish at a restaurant in Back Bay, this was priced at a fairly reasonable $28. The only dish that fell a little flat for me was the tzatziki - needed a bit more seasoning. As it was, I was eating mostly just plain yogurt. The table-side preparation was cool, though. The space is its own visual dinner, there's simply a lot to look at (including a drawing of Poseidon riding a surf board). We got the big table in the back, which was a beautiful glass structure with a whole terrarium underneath. We couldn't stop marveling at it throughout the meal. Our waiter was wonderful - very helpful recommendations, came by to check on us often even though we were pretty far in the back, super patient with our questions. Hard to get reservations but worth it! Don't bother driving / trying to find parking unless you're willing to eat a hefty garage fee, it's Back Bay.

The bread had large air pockets, visibly soft, with a rich aroma of salt and milk; the olive oil was smooth and mellow, with a full-bodied fragrance, and the aftertaste even included a subtle, restrained hint of tea. Even knowing it's a calorie bomb, I couldn't resist dipping it in more. Baccala Mantecato: Classic Venetian flavor. The salted cod was tender and delicate, almost like a light foam, somewhere between raw silk and mousse; the dark bread was simple yet not coarse, perfectly balancing the saltiness of the cod. The most surprising thing was the refreshing aroma of celery leaves that emerged in the aftertaste, lingering and persistent. Lumache: When looking at the menu, seeing "chili butter, Jonah crab, breadcrumb," I never expected such a distinct citric acidity. The subtle acidity was gently enveloped in the fatty aroma of chili butter, perfectly complementing the umami and sweetness of the crab meat with just the right amount of spiciness. The lumache were firm and chewy, the sauce rich and smooth, and the breadcrumbs light and crisp, creating a rich and distinct texture. The portion was generous; even after microwaved the next day, the sauce had naturally broken down and the lemon's tartness had dissipated, but the noodles mixed with chili oil still had a unique flavor. Tiramisu: Highly renowned, and the staff were quite confident. The surface was covered with a thick layer of crispy cocoa nibs, the cake itself is incredibly soft and moist, and digging inside reveals an "underground river" of coffee liquid, while its bitterness was perfectly balanced by the sweet Marsala. The overall flavor was sweet and mellow, less bitter than typical tiramisu, with more layers of complexity. Actually, I was hoping for a slightly bitter version. Even on a weekday, it was packed with customers; by 5:10 PM, only one bar seat was left. Reservations are highly recommended. However, the bar was in a good location, with the bartenders being the easiest servers to find. It was a pleasant conversation with them.

The service is so friendly and seamless which in itself makes for a lovely evening. Highlights were the mussels, which were very fresh and delicious. The service here was attentive with the waiters offering more bread for the mussels. Most dishes are a little spicy, so if you don't like spice, make sure to note that with the waiter. The miso gelato is one of the most delicious savory/sweet desserts, and has lots of nice crunchy accents of the sesame crumble. Cocktails are fabulous, very smooth, as well as the mocktails. Cons: The crostini was nothing really special, and one of them came without the oyster butter. The meatballs, which were tasty but had a slightly hard texture on the outside. The prawn risotto was pretty one-note in flavor, and the prawn heads tasted overcooked and slightly off. The radiatore was spicy and nicely plated. The Cremoso al Cioccolato had a strange flavor profile that didn't quite fit, and had such a large salted chocolate-truffle section that we did not finish it (which is saying something)! Overall, if you are looking for a solid dinner in Boston that will guarantee be a nice experience because of the atmosphere, this is a good place.

Salty Pig Pizza: A pizza with the same name as the restaurant! Who was the genius who came up with the idea of salted pig and beer caramel? It's brilliant! The salted pork appears to include Prosciutto di Parma from Langirano, Prosciutto Cotto, and Salcissia. Baking rendered the prosciutto's fat, which blends with the caramel to create a beautiful golden syrup that flows across the pizza's surface. The prosciutto was savory, oily, and tender; the minced salcissia retains its coarse texture and rich meaty aroma; the caramel was sweet and mellow with a honey-like sweetness, forming the top, middle, and base notes respectively. The arugula was slightly warmed, losing its astringent and raw taste while maintaining its crisp texture, helped to cut through the richness together with the Parmesan cheese powder. The crust was crispy, while the inside the dough was soft and chewy. The cooking time and seasoning were all just right, and the restaurant's proud wooden oven added a charming smoky flavor. Affogato: I had high expectations, but it was just okay. The espresso was too sour, and the vanilla ice cream couldn't balance it out.
