I called Al about my 2017 Kia Sorrento on Tuesday because the oil light was coming on at low RPM's. I brought my 2007 Honda CR-V to this shop. The A/C wasn't working at all and the vehicle had alignment issues. Worked on it himself, straightened the supports, replaced the A/C condenser, recharged the system, and got everything lined up properly. Got in done less than 24 hours! Now the A/C blows ice cold, the car drives straight with no pulling, and there are no warning lights. The price was fair, communication was great. I am an 81 year old, former muffler shop owner-operator in Antioch. All the shops I used to trade with are now gone. I have been looking for a 5-star auto service for my cars. Al's got the highest "quality" review rate I've ever seen. His work reviews are great. His only "low" reviews mentioned appointment time glitches or finishing up on schedule. He is a smaller shop operation with several good mechanics, and being a retired career engineer, does this now more as a hobby to help people solve car problems. My 2016 Honda CRV needed an oil change, a standard 60K-mile service and windshield washer tank that emptied as fast as you pour water in. My car made two visits to his shop. First, to do the service work and to find the reason for the leak. Second to install a new factory replacement water tank. On the first visit, he had to remove the right front fender, then using fiberglass and resin tried to repair the tank that had been chewed up by rats but this was not successful. So, he reinstalled fender, gave me back the car to keep us on the road until a new tank came in, then did the whole fender removal process again to install the new tank. My charges for all needed parts and liquids was about standard and he only charged 2.1 hours labor. You may find someone cheaper or faster but he handled my issues the same way (or better) than I could do my self at a very fair price. I'm giving him 5 stars and any future work as needed. read more

I've lived in Antioch for about a year. My 2002 4Runner had a leaky valve gasket when I moved, so I looked for a local mechanic in the YELP reviews. Al had good reviews, gave a competitive estimate and was walking distance from my house, so I went with him. Good choice - The improvement in my car's performance was noticeable after the valve job. I had been noticing this noise whenever I slowed to a stop and recently decided to have that mystery solved. Al diagnosed it as loose U-Joints and showed me the play when my car was on his rack.
