My boyfriend and I love coming here for lunch or dinner. Food is typical diner food but it's enough to fill you up. From the waiters/waitresses to the manager, everyone is super nice and attentive. Just stopped here for Breakfast/Lunch on a Saturday. There was plenty of parking and to our surprise, no wait. The atmosphere is quiet, laid back and friendly. The seating is nice and the place looks very clean and new. We were greeted at the door by a nice lady who let us pick where we wanted to sit. The prices are great compared to the near by diners. The food was amazing, with large portions. Our waitress was really sweet, and helpful. She made our experience great. They have breakfast all day which I love. To be honest this diner only received a star because I can not rate it any lower. Until recently it was a fantastic eatery named Burger Deluxe, but now it is under new ownership. First coming in the building is difficult if you are Handi-capable. They have a nice big ramp for you to come up ,but the door opens the wrong way so you can not get in and there is no room to go around the door.I mentioned this to the owners and they said they had not come up with a solution yet. I explained maybe they should unlock the other door that opens the other way so people on the ramp could get in.This seemed simple enough. Service was horrible, but it was not because the wait staff were not nice, it seemed it was because of poor training..When things were wrong they did not seem to know how to handle it or what to do.. when we got there the 2 tables around us had problems with their orders and how it was handled ..It took 3 times to get the one tables order correct. They got fed up and just walked out.. As for my party of 4 it took about 10-15 minutes to get service once we did it went down hill from there..Myself & 2 others ordered huevos rancheros..It is usually a simple dish that contains a large crispy tortilla topped with eggs,refried beans avocado or guacamole ,rice and a tomato chili sauce. In this case it was 2 eggs sitting on top of a bed of tortilla chips it gave the appearance of nachos with eggs. The menu said it came with Chorizo which has a rich vibrant color with a very distinct taste.Ours came with a regular sausage (barely 1/2 a link)it was also grey in color. The rice came mixed with black beans on the side. It also had a weird flavor we could not place (refried beans are a big part of the flavor or this dish) These nachos with eggs had a cost of $9.99 The coffee is good if you like over brewed coffee or had possibly been sitting on a burner for a long time because it tasted burnt. We spoke to the waiter about our food and he said he was sorry and walked away.About 10 minutes later he passed again and we again told him about our food to which he said again he was sorry and he walked away.Then a woman that was working the register sat some people next to us and asked how everything was so we told her. She apologized and walked away. For the last time the waiter came by and apologized .He told me that we not be charged for the meal. That he was instructed to just have us bring the check to the cashier and it would be handled. Well we did just that and we were told that they would only take 10% off. I explained to the woman what we were told and she said I received the ok to give you 20 % off...I gave her my credit card and expressed my distaste for the situation and she handed me my card back. I thanked her and began to leave that is when the person I believe was the owner followed me out and told me he felt we need to pay something so I went back in gave me card again to them to pay. I also explained to him how many times I expressed told the waiter about the food and also that I told the hostess,,but nothing was done nor was another option offered. My husband and I stopped into Alps Diner today to give it a try. We were big fans of the previous business in this location, Burger Deluxe. Menu was average, at best. Onion rings were soggy and tasteless. I ordered the En Fuego Burger which actually was on the menu from the previous establishment. That is where the similarity stopped. Our waitress said they " made it wrong" so she " fixed it". I would hate to have seen what it was like before she " fixed it". Our waitress was like Flo gone bad. Remember big mouth Flo from Mel's Diner? The people next to us actually had words with her because her " service" was less than attentive. If you are looking for mediocre service, marginal food quality, this is the place for you. If you were a Burger Deluxe customer, stay away. You will be disappointed. read more

Oh wow ... I have literally never seen anything like this. We had a great waiter. ( we went today for Mother's Day)I think his name is Kasey. You could tell he had a lot of experience. My food was done a few mins before my wife's. He explained to me that he didn't want my eggs to sit in the window and that my wife's food would be right out. Well I guess the "owner" came over and said is everything ok? What's the problem. We told him yes everything is fine. There's no problem. Well we could hear the asshole owner yelling at Kasey all the way in the kitchen. Just like Kasey had said. My wife's food was ready in less than 90 seconds. When he came to drop off her food. I wanted to assure him that he did the right thing and was doing a great job. I told him that it would he ashamed to lose a great server like you, because the owner is a true asshole and cares only about himself. So my wife kasey and I had a great conversation. The ONLY reason I will be back is because of Kasey. That owner is going to run that place in the ground single handed. Thanks Kasey for giving my wife a great Mother's Day lunch. This place used to be Burger DeLuxe, which was alright at best. The new ownership is MUCH better than Burger DeLuxe with amazing food portions and super accommodating as well. Ordered from here for delivery. I will never ever again. It was gross. They got my portebella mushroom incorrectly by putting meat in it. Where there is nothing that states without me. The calamari was not crispy at all. It should have a tint of brown but instead it was white... called them they said that's how it comes from the kitchen and the burger unless I specify they put meat in it. I wish they would have stated this. They did say they would give me a credit on my next order and I said I wouldn't order from them again. This was my first visit to Alps Diner ever since Burger Deluxe folded. I went with a group from work quickly celebrating a 60th birthday. I chose special #14 of open steak on garlic bread with french fries. I selected split pea soup to begin with. We had a pleasant time eating the fine food. I have been here a couple of times and always wondered why it was so empty. The food prices were good and the quality seemed to be pretty good. On my last trip I found out why. After ordering breakfast I noticed the fork that was on the table had pieces of food stuck between the tines. I asked the waitress for a new one and when she brought a new one it had food particles stuck on the flat part. She brought me a third that was ok. Then my food was delivered someone had put a spoon (presumably for my grits) right on top of the food in my dish. This spoon was disgustingly dirty and I sent the entire plate back. I asked to see the manager (who should have already made an appearance). I complained to him(I think he was the owner) and he seemed only interested in me keeping my voice down so other patrons wouldn't here. He apologized and basically did nothing. The biggest issue I have with any food service is cleanliness. If my silverware has pieces of food stuck to it what is stuck to the plate under my food? What is the cleanliness of the kitchen area overall? I don't go out to eat to get sick! When I paid my bill at the register, the manager didn't take anything off the bill, not even a cup of coffee, but gave me a card for 10% off my next purchase of $30. My boyfriend and I went to Alps Diner for breakfast for the first time this week and it was a great choice. When you first walk in you're greeted right away and feel welcomed. The food and service was great. Always was there to see if we needed anything else and if everything was ok. That's how it should be. Also the inside of the diner is really nice and cozy. The hostess where you also go up to pay is super nice that she also gave us a certificate to get $5 off each time, up to $30. I never had a diner do that before. Looking for a good diner to have breakfast with my family,we stop at this JOINT.After placing our order we waited 40 minute for our food and it was all wrong.The butter little containers were all durty and discusting.I order a boul of soup and never got to the table. We order pancakes and the pancakes were so thin and wronly made. My wife order was a complete mess. This place is soooo badly managed that i will recomend to avoid a frustration instead of an enjoyable moment like sharing a good moment with your family. This was my first time and the last. I ordered A Turkey Burger That was way over done On the outside But a strange texture inside Did not want to complain because I heard a gentleman Steve the owner Being very rude and disrespectful to his staff. I have been there a few times since it has been open. I am one who enjoys breakfast especially. I believe that Alps serves one of the better breakfasts in the area. I usually order eggs sunny side up with sausage and rye toast. Breakfast has always been hot and way above average in quality. The coffee is above average too. The sausages are the thick kind, not the anemic ones you find in a lot of places. The eggs are always fesh and not greasey or runny. The potatoes are great too. I always order them well done. They are always crispy and not mushy. When I order bacon, it is always crisp. It is also a generous portion. The service is great and the menu prices, you will find, are well below that of comparable places. (4 slices bacon 2.49, which is about 1.00 to 1.50 cheaper than other places for lesser quality and quantity serving.) I also very much enjoyed the pancakes, but they are equal or average to other places. Another great feature to breakfast is that they serve grits! They are delicious with butter! I have also had the steak and eggs there. It was a real strip steak! Fresh, tender and delicious. All in all, an above average place to have breakfast! This place is HORRIBLE. Do not eat here! We waited 20 mins to even be greeted by our server. The food is horrible to say the least. The French toast was dry, no flavor at all and the turkey bacon was cold. They offer no refills on anything you order to drink. The dish that we ordered came with 3 pieces of pork bacon and 2 pieces of ham. We don't eat pork so we asked for the turkey bacon substitute, we were charged extra and got less than pork options offered. When I spoke with the manager of the diner he only offered $3 dollars off the total bill and tried to justify why the food was bad and down played the experience I described to him. Worst breakfast of my life! Scrambled eggs were actually scrambled egg whites which smelled like salmon and were floating in a small pool of WATER !!! Similarly, the potatoes were also water based! Never had this type of meal EVER and we go out for breakfasts every weekend to diners all over the northern NJ area. Also, I have had awefull coffee before but never this bad. The food is decent. As far as diners in the area go I personally prefer Park Wayne Diner. However, my primary problem is with the customer service. I have ordered takeout from Alps and have also dined in and I found the experience unpleasant. If you choose to dine in, be prepared for a very long wait no matter how busy the diner is. I ordered from seamless (a site I love and use frequently). I used a coupon code for my order for $5 off of a purchase of $35 or more. After placing my order the owner called me to tell me they would not accept the coupon on my $40 order and to please give $5 to the person who delivers the food. I said problem. The food arrived approximately an hour later, with one of the sides I ordered missing. I called to request they adjust my bill on seamless because the side wasn't delivered. The person who answered the phone apologized that my item wasn't delivered, but gave me a very hard time about adjusting the bill. She suggested that instead, I could come into the diner another time and get that side for free. When I said (nicely) that I would prefer to have the money credited to my card, she gave me a very difficult time repeating how she was unfamiliar with how to do it. When I told her she would need to contact seamless for that, she said she had no idea how to do that. When I suggested calling the phone number of the site, she simply said again that it would be easier for me to come in and get the food another time. Finally, after explaining why I would prefer a refund (several times) she said the owner would adjust it. If the food had tasted good, I would probably overlook the poor customer service. However, I will not settle for poor customer service in addition to poor quality food. Considering this diner has changed management several times in the last few years, I think the staff should make a better effort to keep customers satisfied and make the dining experience as "seamless" as possible. Several hours later and I have yet to receive notice from seamless that they adjusted my bill. UPDATE* Alps never credited me for the missing order, although they promised they would.
