Very safe minded range officers. Regardless of firearms knowledge, they apply the rules to everyone. Don't get butt hurt if they apply to you. You can shoot all day if you want. It is irritating when people ask to be exempt from the rules and make a scene when the answer is no. read more

I recently went to check zero my deer rifle as I do yearly. I noticed the upgrades and appearance changes. The range officer could not have been nicer. I have some mobility impairment. He offered and assisted me with carrying my rifle to the range. His associate went down range and posted my target for me. I have patronized the range since 1970 and will continue to use it. However I will not be coming back there are just too many restrictions on what you can do at the range. Outdoor shooting range, it is nice during the few weeks a year that the weather isn't unbearable. they don't necessarily enjoy the female shooters though. Will never go back to this place. The only reason that I gave it two stars was that the people outside were nice. The inside people were jerks. First, when we walked in not one single person greeted us in anyway. When we were finally greeted it was by a young female that was rude. I asked her a couple of questions about the process at that establishment since it was our first time there. We were met with an aloof attitude. Then we went outside and the guys working the actual range were super cool. At the end I was wanting to shoot rifles, and my rounds didn't meet their specs, which is fine. I went inside to buy some., and again I was met with rudeness and attitude when I asked if they had a certain caliber. Yet this time it was some short man in his 50s. So yeah I won't be back to their business. I'm sure me not coming back isn't a big deal to them, but I will tell all of my family and friends to steer away from here too. read more

I came by to update this, even though I haven't made it back to this business yet. The marketing manager contacted me about my review and was very kind, apologized for my experience, explained the changes they are working to achieve, and asked I come back sometime soon to give them a second chance. I've been contacted a number of times by other businesses over reviews I have left on Yelp, but I will say typically it is not in a friendly fashion. Usually it is to give excuses or demand I change wording in my reviews (which I will not be intimidated into doing ever). So to me, getting an actual message from a company that was friendly and offering to fix any negatives, well to me that shows they are at least trying and that gets them bumped up in my book! Just called to inquire if the range was open and how muddy it might be based on the recent rains. Person answering the phone failed to give anything other than one word answers and couldn't tell me if roads were open nor conditions of the range. When I asked if I could speak with someone else who might know, he just said No! I guess they have so much business that they do not need my money or the 3 others that I would have brought with me. Returning to shooting after a few decades. I've been to other ranges and usually I'm just left to my own devices. The range instructor (Berger) took the time to come over and tell me why my grip was effecting my accuracy. A 2 minute private lesson and I was back on track. HORRIBLE customer service. I went to their range with the ammo I use for another range (FMJ). When I found out that I had the "wrong" ammo for their, range, two of their employees talked to me like I was an idiot. Instead of explaining why I needed different ammo, offering to sell me what I needed, they instead decided to try and make me feel stupid. There are too many other ranges in the area, and I will not spend another penny with them. read more

Used their rifle/shot gun lanes. This place is cheap compared to some of the other places I've been to. $30 for two people. This is an outdoor range and keep in mind that you call ahead and ask which kinds of bullets you are allowed to use here. That's common sense. My first time here, I didn't think it a bad range. However my girlfriend is another story. We are both pretty tall people (6 foot 1). With that said, the pistol range has a steel I-beam that begins to hang at around 5 feet 6 inches in between you and the target. It is covered in wooden paneling all the way up, forcing you to shoot under the beam. It's literally right in the way. She constantly shot it on accident, causing some of the wooden covering to splash back. Stabbing me in the back of the neck, her sister in the forehead and her to the right of her right eye. No cuts or bleeding just a good whack that ached for a while. I know it wasn't intentional! But what a nuisance to have to almost crouch down to have to shoot. Especially for her, she already complains about how much her back hurts from her bust being so big. So having to bend over or crouch for her IS a problem. Maybe add stools or chairs? Every one was SUPER NICE! One member of our party didn't have eye protection and we were about to be forced to leave after paying! when the range master went out to his car and let her use one of his personal pairs. Very very very nice people. Besides having to pay to shoot uncomfortably, I did like this place. If your over 6 foot bring a rifle or shotgun instead. I believe it to be more tailored for rifles and shotguns anyway. I don't believe we will be going back since we don't Own either. read more

NO FMJ ALLOWED ON RIFLE RANGE!!! Be aware of this before going as I was not and had to buy ammo there. The only upside was that the ammo wasn't outrageously priced. Skeet range has two options and the throw yourself option is affordable and a great way to go out and blow through some bird shot down range. read more

I've only every used their shotgun range here so my review is for just that. There is always at least one clay thrower that is not functioning properly and some throw higher then others.There is no fee to use their throwers as long as you buy the clay from them. I always have a good time there and so do the people I bring. read more

Been a while since ive been here. From what I remember it was set up well. Range officers were forward , but safety first is a good thing to have. Last I checked they gave military discount on firing rates( this may have changed so don't quote me). Good gun shop. They had a beefy selection and I inquired about ordering some guns and they were quick to call me with pricing and availability. Overall I was satisfied with my experiences here. Today was my first time coming to this Range. I did my research and found that they allow black powder shooting here. My wife came with me and I was impressed. The facility was clean, easy parking, well organized. I was helped at the front counter. The Range staff we friendly, warm hearted. I had a firearms malfunction and one of the Range master name Chase he help me out, clear my barrel obstruction and coached me on what to do next time to avoid the issue. Man behind the counter was rude when asking about a certain shotgun. Said the gun was trash and that I'm better spending 2000+ on an over under shotgun. Why would you say that about a gun that you choose to carry in your store? Also, when shooting on the skeet range with two buddies, my friend had some slugs on his shotgun that we were not using, he just forgot to take them off. The range officer took them away and sat there watching us the whole time. Mind you we had over 1000 target rounds. He told the only white friend with us to "watch" me and my other friend. Little does he know that I have been shooting guns my whole life and my friend barely knows anything about firearms. Used to come here quite often. I don't know what happened. There's a new shooting range in North Richland Hills called Total Shooting Sports where I have received much better service and it is closer to where I live. read more

Alpine is one of my favorite places to shoot they have great facilities for both rifle and pistol. They also have a steel range area and a large area for skeet and trap shooting. The clubhouse has any supplies you might need and all of the staff is very friendly from the front desk to the range officers I've never had a bad day shooting at this facility. read more

Been giving this range 8 years of business, nothing wrong with the place, but the rotten old man regulating the clay/trap shooting ranges. Interacted with this gentleman as soon as we arrived and shook hands; he never said a single word about searching our things or ammo check.. he clears us and we start shooting; everything was fine until he came back up to claim he ammo checked me and to surrender all my buck shot ammunition. (wasn't even aware I had buck shot in my bag which was stored under the table far away) I told him if he needed ammo just to kindly ask; while I opened my bag confused, so I search and I do find a handful buck shot to give up. (wasn't aware they were in there at all) Instead of dealing with a petty thief the legal or usual way; I just considered it a loss. He never picked on any of the other shooters, or stole from them, but I'm sure race has nothing to do with it. No longer recommending goodluck. read more

Decent range with lots of options, just do not bring any full metal jacket ammo to the rifle range or they will shoot you! Soft points only at this range. I think FMJ on hand guns is fine, just rifles. I like the shotgun ranges the best, much more to do at this range than others. 5 stand, trap shoot, sporting clays, don't bring your own targets, have to use there's which makes sense since that is how you pay is purchasing the targets. Will go back for the shotgun ranges but not the rifle or pistol ranges. Can do much better in the DFW area for those than what Alpine offers. read more

I have been to this range 5 times within the last 18 months. Each trip was for pistol and/or rifle shooting. I have never been on their clay range, so my comments are limited only to the pistol and rifle ranges. This is a good range for rifle shooting up to 100 yards for everything larger than a .22, which are limited to a 50-yard range. The shooting benches are covered, which keeps the rain and hot sun off of you. The biggest downside to Alpine is that they prohibit FMJ rifle ammo, something that has me looking elsewhere to shoot. I really don't like the idea of having to purchase more expensive ammo for punching paper. For example, if you're going out to shoot your 5.56 AR, you'll need non-FMJ 223 ammo. It's great for sighting in your deer and varmint rifles, as long as you're not planning on shooting FMJ ammo. Yes, they check. The pistol ranges are not really acceptable for handguns, unless you want to limit your training and practice to 30 and 50 yards. If you want more realistic handgun practice, say 3 to 30 feet, you will need to call for a reservation. Goofy. The target frames are not automated, so you will walk downrange to check your target when the range is declared "green." Shotguns are generally prohibited on the pistol and rifle ranges, although on one slow day the range master allowed me to shoot some slugs from my defensive shotgun. But the signs say "No Shotguns." The range officers don't seem to pay that close attention to what people are doing, which bothers me a lot. There are a lot of new shooters on gun ranges these days, and they tend to do unsafe things. As such, I prefer this range, like all the others, on a weekday, not a weekend or Friday afternoon when there are so many new shooters around. Alpine is best for rifle shooting on the 50 and 100 yard ranges. Remember, if you're shooting a .22 you will be limited to the 50. They have a very good pro shop with a wide variety of ammo, firearms, optics, and cleaning gear. Have fun and be safe. read more

This range was very warm and inviting. The staff was very friendly and the range supervisors gave helpful tips and made casual conversation. Lots of space for different types of shooting whether its pistol, rifle or skeet. Targets and ammo were reasonable priced, however if you bring your own you just pay a fee to get in and you just shoot your heart out!!! Will definitely be coming here from now on. read more

I frequent Alpine often. I never have an issue at the rifle or the handgun range. I always follow the rules and the range officers are friendly and helpful. I shoot more shotgun than I do rifle or pistol though and it's always a great experience. The store is always stocked with a good selection of accessories which is needed when you bring people out with you. They always have a great selection of firearms, and if you are looking for something not on the shelf they can order it for you. For such a big place and so much going on I think they do a super job! read more
