The fuel/transport fee was above average especially given the move location was only a 2 miles distance. They added an extra mover the day off bc we have stairs. Though that was their decision, we were charged above the quoted rate for the additional person. I paid cash, which gave us a 10% discount but with all the extra fees, the 10% isn't much of a savings. I still tipped and nothing was broken or damaged during the move. They also arrived on time and helped taped boxes that needed additional reinforcement. Boxes were placed on the appropriate rooms based on the labels. I would hire them again but would budget for 15-20% more than what they quote.

The worst moving experience of my life. Took them over 10 hours to move me into a two bedroom…read moreapartment. Scratched up furniture, broke items & stripped nuts/ bolts during reassembly. Leaving most items unassembled and taped or boxed up. The lead mover even threatened and did leave unfinished because I asked if the bolts on my bed were being stripped, as I could hear the drill stripping them. Then attempted to charge double what was quoted, charging me extra for an additional mover I didn't request and for unnecessarily used tape. They literally wrapped tape around a mattress and taped up sofa pillows and charged me an additional $165 for packing supplies used. But somehow managed to scratch up my entire dinette, chairs included. Giving them 1 star is being generous; there is nothing professional about them.

Today was my move day. He and Will showed up early, which was great, as I had already been up for hours with anxiety about the move. I've never seen movers move so fast! When we got to my new apartment around the corner, they were done unloading in no time! Even the Xfinity tech that was here for my install mentioned how fast they got everything upstairs and unpacked. They were done before him! They carefully wrapped my furniture and ensured that everything arrived intact. They had all the necessary equipment to take pieces apart for transport, and put back together upon arrival. And the price was very reasonable!!! I was so happy with my experience with Happy 2 Help and I highly recommend them!!

These are the only movers I've used in the almost decade I've been in Maryland. I have used them 8…read moretimes, including 3 times in one 12 month leasing period from hell (see my other reviews). All I can compare them to is other people's reviews of other companies and I can also compare their estimates to the estimates I have proactively received from other companies. They're damn good at what they do. I usually only require two movers because I am one person with very few belongings and also very few heavy items. The last couple of times, three guys have shown up. I was not happy about this, because I thought it would raise the cost. It raised the cost by about 75 dollars on average. But it's hard for me to complain because they are so fast. Typically they load the truck in a little over an hour and unload in even less time, but during my most recent move the unload was a little over an hour because of some elevator issues at the new place. But they persevered. Part of it is the tools they use when they move you (seems like every moving company has them, but theirs are particularly clever and effective). If they have to pack anything of yours, they will charge you extra: tape, boxes, etc., about 3 dollars per item (yes inflated pricing). I have learned over the years, and my most recent move was nearly perfect because I had everything done. I was very annoyed when they pulled out their packing tape and used it anyway for multiple purposes, but at least I wasn't charged for any boxes. The estimates are consistent, and consistently some of the best I've ever received. Including tips, my moves have never cost more than $750. In the past, they used to make you put down a deposit of about 50-100 dollars, so on moving day, your final balance would be not so bad. These days it seems like they just take the full amount on moving day. Not my preferred method. The heftier deposit before moving day gave me a greater feeling of savings/"ooh, good deal!". A psych trick, but it , worked. For my last several moves, the price has slowly been ticking up, so I now get estimates from at least 2 other places to compare. To be fair, one of the last 8 moves was a relatively last minute move (for me) and I needed someone to move me two weeks in the future: that was the highest amount I've ever paid them. The estimate was 100 dollars more than I expected, and I was not happy. The only reason I didn't grumble much is because my landlord paid 80% of the costs and the place where I was living was horrible and they were moving me relatively last minute. Regardless, I now ensure I come with estimates from other companies. For the first time recently, their estimate wasn't the best. I returned to them and we were able to come to a compromise. The customer service is very good. They have several reps, but Erika is my favorite. Y'all. Erika is my ride or die, basically-on-a-first-name-basis, customer service rep! I have used another guy once maybe two moves ago, and some other guy maybe 4 years ago. Nope: I want Erika. She's just calm, organized, and never gives you the impression that you are getting screwed over or manipulated. She is a straight shooter, and I appreciate that. For the most recent move, I asked them to come at 10:00 am, but for some reason Erika put me down for 8:00 am (probably because 7 of the last 8 times I moved at 8). But when Erika said they had me down for 8, I wasn't sweating it, no problem: anything for Erika. Erika, if you read this, you are amazing and don't ever change! My primary complaint about this company is they are always late. LOL. I mean 7 of the last 8 times, they have been late. When I first used them back in 2012, I was freaked out by this. They were like 45 min-60 min late. That's nothing to sneeze at, that's a LONG time. But they're just so fast at loading, I let it go. When I had them move me last minute, they were on time for the first time: actually slightly early. For the most recent move, they were 45 minutes late. Had they arrived on time most recently, we probably would have avoided some of the elevator problems at the destination, but whatever: it worked out. A secondary complaint is that I have had three things become damaged or go missing on three occasions out of 8 moves. In the first move, an adapter for an Ikea lamp was lost. Without the adapter I couldn't use the lamp, so I threw it away after trying to get a replacement adapter. In the 7th move, someone grabbed my bureau/chest by one of the drawer handles, and broke the handle: they cleverly stuck it back on so I wouldn't think it was broken. Nice try, didn't work, guy. During the most recent move, a glass bowl broke. However, I do not fault them for this one: I remember packing that box and I should have wrapped that bowl in more than one sheet of paper. I still trust these guys to move my stuff. TL; DR: These movers have a track record of getting me moved fast and inexpensively with minimal damage.

Disappointing and Unprofessional Experience…read more I had the unfortunate experience of being misled and ultimately abandoned by your company when you decided not to honor my scheduled moving service. Instead of being transparent, I was lied to, the claim was you all needed "five minutes" to look into rescheduling for the next day only to walk out and never return. There was no explanation, no courtesy of a conversation, and no regard for the fact that I urgently needed to move within the next two days. During our initial discussion, I clearly communicated my time-sensitive situation and I had no prepared myself to the standard in which you need me to be in order to provide me with your services that should have been clearly communicated. As a first-time customer using this or any moving company, I expected professionalism and basic respect. Instead, I was left without warning or resolution, forced to scramble for alternatives at the last minute. A simple, honest response such as, "We're unable to provide service today" would have been far more professional and understandable than outright deception and abandonment. I will never recommend your company to anyone, and I am deeply disappointed by the disrespectful treatment I received.

Friendly and professional, Jim was here in no time to do my estimate. On Saturday I got an early morning text with a status on where the movers were. 20 minutes later they were here. Friendly and again professional, four young men, Eric, Damion, Corey and Zack. It was in inside move from one apt. to another and they packed me up, moved me and unpacked me. They asked where to unpack things and did so with care for my belongings and put everything right where I needed. Literally unpacked me right into where I needed things to go!!!!!! I have a display case of cat figures and ceramic clowns and collectibles on care bears and rainbow brite LOL (a kid at heart); and they gently unpacked those items and neatly displayed them on the showcase shelf. I was in such shock because the diaplay looked better than the original set up I had!!!! Eastern Moving & Storage is awesome and they have such personalities that they make the move enjoyable! The movers were kind and respectful, but numerous things where broken from not being secured…read morecorrectly in the truck, including a very expensive family heirloom. Additionally I had a few shelves that didnt fit on the 1st truck. The lead mover told me it was ok he could just add them on the second truck without charging since they had to bring the truck anyways. Because he told me I wouldn't get charged, I canceled the u haul I had and let them take the items. The owner told me to bad about the broken stuff, I should have gotten the insurance and also charged me for the second truck. If you dont want a bait and switch on price and you value your stuff, I would recommend 2 guys and a truck. At least they are a major company that can afford to stand by their work.

I really lucked out with David and his crew (had fingers crossed that I didn't get Moshay). The quoted time to start was 9:30, the crew of four showed up around 9:20. As mentioned in other reviews, these guys went straight at it, no muss, no fuss. My house was fully loaded in around an hour. Preparation is key in a move if you want to save money. I bought mattress bags and industrial rolls of saran wrap to wrap all my furniture. I was fortunate of being able to use a mini-van to move my flat screen TV since I didn't want them to throw any misc. charges at me. The only thing I really wanted the movers to do was move boxes and move furniture. I didn't want them to wrap or pack a thing! I forgot to wrap my dressers so they used their moving blankets which were free of charge. The offload was also very efficient. I happened to be moving right down the street so the entire job took just under 4 hours. After reading some of the reviews, I was a little weary of their "miscellaneous" charges that they might try to add. David didn't pressure me with ANY extra charges! I was only billed for 4 hours of work which is their minimum for any job .

This was my first time using movers and I wanted to like this company so much more than I did…read more It started well. I asked for a 9 am slot. Sharon called the day before to confirm and told me they'd be there between 9 and 9:30. They arrived at 8:45 (points for punctuality). I wanted to be completely moved out of my 4th floor walk-up in 2 hours. Between the 3 movers, my boyfriend and I, and a few friends, we hit that deadline on the nose. These guys were like a mule team! There was no chatting or checking messages. From the time they arrived until they left, they were working. They didnt even stop for water until I offered them some. There wasnt much for us to do because they were so efficient. So why the low star rating? Well, things went sour soon after they arrived when one of them (a tall, thin middle eastern guy. I think his name was Moshay) started trying to price gouge us. I read the fine print in the contract which said they charge extra to wrap mirrors & TVs. Since we'd already wrapped most of our breakables in thick layers of bubble wrap (and were wrapping the rest when they arrived), all they had to do was wrap their "complimentary" blankets around the stuff and get it on the truck. Imagine our surprise when ol' Mo tells us that it'll be $10 extra PER MIRROR to wrap & move our mirrors (which I'd already wrapped, mind you), $25 extra per TV and whatever the hell extra they planned to charge us for the couch & mattresses. We said we didnt need all of those extras. Moshay insisted that we had to have them since they didnt want to be responsible for broken items. We said we'd put the fragile stuff on the truck ourselves if that was the case because we weren't gonna pay all these last minute a la carte fees when we already had packing materials and were wrapping it ourselves. By this time I was ready to cancel: I was already annoyed that Sharon increased the price between my initial quote and the scheduled move, and now this. Finally, he said that they'd do the wrapping and moving for $110 an hour. It was "only" $15 more an hour (plus the $10 more than I was initially quoted), so I decided to cough up the extra $100 bucks (which is what it cost after all was said and done) to get this show on the road. I wont outright call it a scam, but their business practices are sketchy at best. They quote you a low rate so that you'll choose them. Then when they arrive, they start piling on fees. In our case, even though we wrapped everything, they wanted to do it their way & charge us. And since you dont know what they're going to try and charge you for until they arrive, you're stuck between a rock and a hard place. They know you won't cancel your move, especially because it'll be too late to book anyone else, so you're stuck paying the fees. Granted, they were still cheaper than most of the other places I found, but I didnt need that headache from them first thing in the morning. Moshay said I should've asked for "full packing". Sharon offered it to me, but she didnt explain what it entailed. To me, "full packing" sounds like they'll pack AND move us, which we didnt need since we'd been packing for over a month. What THEY call "full packing" is wrapping TVs, mirrors and furniture in blankets & shrink wrap to protect it. Had it been explained that way, instead the arbitrary and misleading moniker, this whole misunderstanding would've been avoided. I also didnt like how Moshay tried to coddle me & engage me in several conversations to justify the upcharges or discuss his side of the story. (I am not paying by the hour for that). Instead, he spent the rest of the move trying smooth talk me: offering me unsolicited advice, trying to chat me up, expressing his disagreement with some of our furniture placement choices. I found it insulting because he spoke to me like I was some poor ingénue instead of a paying (and, at this point, pissed off) client, while sparing my boyfriend the same BS. I understand wanting a happy customer, but let the work do the talking. If you deal with Moshay, make sure you control the conversation. He's like a fly: He starts buzzing and soon you're so distracted trying to shoo him away and get on with things that you stop paying attention to what else is going on around you. I'm not exactly sure what time my move started or ended: I just signed the papers (without getting a copy of the receipt!) to hurry and get him out of my house. Based on my own estimate of when they started and ended, the charges seem correct, but if he can distract someone as meticulous, focused and organized as I pride myself on being, he'll probably distract you too. I can't say whether or not I would book them again. They did a very good job: they were quick and efficient and not one of our items was damaged. However, I dont like sneaky, deceptive or underhanded business practices (or people who undermine me because of my gender) whether intentional or not.

I have moved many many times over the years and this has BY FAR been the worst experience of my…read moreentire life. I hoped that this would have been a positive experience and that I would be able to use them again in the future but that is very far from the outcome. While they did arrive on time and were nice guys, upon off loading the truck they had broken several pieces. When it was time to pay for the move they asked me to estimate off hand the cost of each item and deduct it from the total. This would have been an acceptable outcome had I known the cost of the items they broke. Upon sending them several emails detailing the cost of the items that were damaged, sending links and offering receipts I had received no response. Eventually I called David who told me that they would send me a check for the difference. When it didn't arrive and I called the company YET AGAIN and spoke to another person who had no knowledge of the situation and tried to tell me that I was at fault for the broken items. In short fine company if all goes well but should there be any hiccups they don't seem to be capable at solving them or providing customer service/following through.
