Our HOA manager contacted Alpha Structural in Fall 2023 for an estimate on remedial drainage repairs in two buildings. Aaron Clitheroe walked through the building and areas of concern and was very thorough and quick in turning around a proposal. He was responsive to follow-up questions from the Board and was able to make requested changes. Once we signed on with Alpha Structural, they got the ball moving quickly. Although it took a while to get the permits from the County, Alpha Structural's staff was responsive to any queries at this time. When the work started, that's where the company really shone. Our Project manager Alfie gave us weekly updates, and was always accessible. We ran into more than a few unforeseen site conditions and Alpha Structural was able to work around them and keep the job moving. We especially appreciated the detailed updates when we had the in person walk-thrus with Alfie. He was also very responsive via text and sent photos of key project items. Additionally, the project necessitated extra structural work, which was completed on a timely basis. All of the work was done very neatly and the job site was left clean. Special shoutout to the daily crew of Gabriel and Gustavo, who contorted themselves to do excellent work in tight crawl spaces, always put safety first, and were quiet and polite to the residents. Approximately 7 years ago, we sustained flooding of our home due to a heavy rain storm. Our property was improperly graded causing water to flow toward our home. Alpha Structural Install drains all around the time and built a berm to dire,t water away from the home. The crew was fantastic. We contacted Alpha Structural to do a waterproofing job on a whole side of our house where we had flooding with the increasing rains in Los Angeles. Several previous attempts had been made to mitigate the flooding but to no avail. Finally, we were lucky enough to get booking with Aldo and his crew to do this big job for us. The work they did was extraordinary! And I can't even begin to describe how pleased we are with their process and open, honest, and foreward communication. From Aldo's brilliant idea for drainage to the execution of the work, the process was smooth and efficient. This was a big job for us, and Aldo's straightforward communication and clear descriptions of the job stages gave us a lot of confidence in the work, especially after having previous bad experiences with other companies. The crew Francisco (foreman), Sergio, Thomas, Orlando, and Edgar were EXCELLENT. Despite jackhammers, digging, pouring etc the crew was as quiet as possible and very polite. I am a remote owner. We have a hill side ~50 yrs old house with beautiful 180 views. The house needs foundation repair work due to early days settlement on east side kitchen corner. We hired Alpha Structural to do the proposal and estimate last Oct. It's not free but we are willing to reward a quality foundation work. The experience did not disappoint us. It's a multi day project. They came on time and finished on time. Sending me photos in progress daily. Both my agent and my tenant told me the crew are very professional and polite all the time. At the end of the date, they did a good cleanup of the job site. My tenant has no complain but good impression of the crew. I especially like the project head engineer, supervisor Ernesto. We talked almost everyday. He kept me informed of the progress, and explained the issue and the repair approach. He addressed my concerns and many questions. After the first round of repair done according to the contract , he went inside of the house to check the doors and windows and measured the floor levelness. It's actually more complicated than the original plan. Ernesto said he will try to do some extra work beyond the contract. He went in the crawl space and within the tight schedule, he got it nailed. Ernesto also let me know one section of sewer pipe deep inside the crawl space has a serious leakage. They took a photo and pinpoint which bathroom is leaking. This pre knowledge saved me a lot of money when I later hired some plumber to repair it. Overall, we are happy we hired Alpha Structural to take care of our foundation work. read more

Our home had some major foundation issues with us being in a liquefaction zone in the Culver City area. The corners of our home were sinking and causing cracks and other issues. We decided to choose Alpha Structural and were very impressed with their professionalism, attention to detail, timeliness, and good communication. I really appreciated how Sunn, the project supervisor, explained everything very clearly to me and let us know what to expect. He and his partner were involved and would check in periodically on the progress. Juve, Henry, and Mark were the ones working on our place, breaking up concrete, digging multiple holes down beneath our foundation, laying the rebars, then pouring the concrete. They were on time every day, kept our area as clean as it could be, and took time to communicate the progress. We were hoping to host our son's birthday party right after the work was done and they were able to finish and also help me clean up the area so it looked even better than when they started. We first started working with Alpha Structural last year when Aldo came by to do an inspection on a piece of what we thought was broken foundation but was actually just a walkway that my late dad had had paved with concrete on top of soil. He didn't charge us for that inspection, but we were grateful for his take on it and it prompted us to work with our GC to finally redo that walkway and do a proper concrete pour. During that visit, Aldo recommended that we look into the Earthquake Brace + Bolt (EBB) program with the State of California, which reimburses us for up to $3,000 for earthquake retrofitting. I promptly applied for EBB and we got accepted 1 year later. We decided to proceed to work with Alpha Structural as our designated contractor for the retrofit. At every step of this project, Alpha has been super professional, responsive, coordinated, organized, and communicative. Specifics: 1. From day 1 of my reaching out to Alpha and getting their OK to be designated as our contractor, I was sent a proposal and contract by the administrative team, namely Melissa. After I reviewed and signed the contract, I was assigned a production assistant (Brianna) and a draftsman / permit expediter (Rudy). Everyone I've listed was very professional, responsive, and clear in their communication with me. 2. Rudy was able to secure the city permit with very little friction, except that the clerk required some documentation regarding our deed that I emailed to Rudy after he gave me a call. We got the permit shortly thereafter. 3. I worked with Brianna to schedule a day for construction. She sent me invoices digitally via Quickbooks, according to the schedule we agreed on in the contract. 4. On the actual day of construction commenced, the crew arrived early. The supervisor was Sunn and he was professional at the outset. He introduced himself and his foreman, Juve, and explained how the work would proceed. 5. And I want to give a huge, huge thanks to the crew, specifically Juve and Henry, who worked very, very hard over the course of 2 days during this 100+ degree heatwave we've been having in L.A. (Bear in mind that they were under our crawlspace for most of both days.) They seemed well-organized and hard-working, and they were super nice when I interacted with them. I can't thank them enough. I'm writing this as we wait for final submission of materials to EBB and hopefully get approved for reimbursement, but I am happy to submit this 5-star review for how easy the process has been to work with Alpha Structural throughout--and before--this retrofit project. read more

Being on the board of our HOA we looked at multiple contracts for water intrusion in one of the units. We dealt with Albert and they were very good at amending certain things in the contract our atty suggested, was always keeping us updated with the permit process and pushing to get it as fast as possible, and had the project done on time. In January 2023, my home experienced water intrusion in heavy rain due to old foundation. I met with Alpha Structural who advised me to moved forward with a partial renovation. It took 6 weeks to begin the job and after many tens of thousands of dollars and much time, the work seemed solid. Unfortunately, Alpha was wrong. Only one year later, the entire room was filled with water during a heavy rain. The same supervisor came back over and took NO ownership for the issue. A matter of fact, he gave me a 10 dollars Starbucks card while my floor was covered in water. I have since had an engineer and a water expert confirm ALPHA failed. It was their responsibility to diagnose the problem and know what my house needed and to make that evaluation then. They failed to offer the expertise to let me know I needed 10 feet more of foundation work to prevent water intrusion and they have failed to take responsibility for their poor judgement and incompetence. Alpha now wants to charge another FORTY THOUSAND dollars to do more work. They also had the nerve to tell me it would have been less money if I had done all the work at the same time! They have taken NO responsibility for their bad judgement and the damage and time this has cost me. WHY DIDN'T THEY MAKE THE SUGGESTION AT THE TIME? WHY HAVEN'T THEY ADMITTED WRONG? read more

We hired Alpha Structural for a sister foundation due to serious foundation issues in our newly purchased 140 year old home. We received multiple bids, and Alpha was on the more expensive side (but not the most expensive). However we had heard very good things about their reputation (the landlord we purchased from had used them before with a very positive experience), they had no citations on their permit, and they were very thorough in explaining what needed to be done now and what could be deferred until later. Once hired, the process was pretty effortless on my part. They took care of permitting with the city, and scheduled the start in a reasonable amount of time. The job itself took longer than expected by a bit over a week, however they did not charge me anything beyond what was originally quoted. I was also impressed with how well they cleaned up once everything was done! It honestly looked cleaner than when they started. read more

The construction work is very good, especially considering the difficulty of our site. They seem to be the most expensive company so it should be. However, the communication and follow-up is abysmal. I've had some concrete that is cracking in my backyard. It's getting worse the last few years. I confirmed from an arborist the closest tree is not the cause. So I gave Alpha a call and Markian came out to evaluate. I was told the problem is not structural. There were a couple options, one involving new concrete with metal rebar, or more of a "fix" by drilling out a channel and re-pouring concrete, or using bricks. He told me it's probably easier to just do a simple concrete patch. This is good news to me as I'd rather hold off on large repairs. I am grateful that Markian came out and gave me a few options. I will keep Alpha Structural in mind if I see any other issues with my house. Thank you! read more
