    RUN do not go here

If I could give them less than one star I would absolutely do so. I came to this place 3 times in one day for Charlie who is apparently the seamstress / manager of the place ONLY because when walking by someone raved about how they good they were. My services included; 2 men's suits for alteration and cleaned, 1 ladies shirt (which they said because it was long they were charging me the price for a gown). I should have left right then. Also, 1 ladies skirt, and 2 ladies suits. Upon picking up my items a few days later, I noticed the white on the skirt looked yellow (this was a black and white skirt, pictures attached.) This made me open up the plastic and inspect all the items. My blood boiled when I pulled my $250 skirt out only to find that it was COMPLETELY RUINED! the bottom of the skirt was turned a dirty yellowish tan and white. When I communicated my dissatisfaction, Charlie blamed the damage on the designer and said I should request a refund from them since they did not tell me the skirt could not be dry cleaned....ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This made me take all of the items out for inspections, good thing I did. The 2 white ladies' suits were still dirty, both men's suits were dirty, and the top they charged for a gown had not only not been cleaned but had new stains on it! When I again questioned about these pieces, Charlie proceeded to blame everything on me the customer, saying the items had old stain on them and should have been cleaned sooner. He did everything but take accountability. Ultimately, I got too frustrated and felt myself about to loose it. At that point, he said we will clean everything one more time. At this point, I felt like I had nothing else to loose. A day later, I pick up the items, of course the skirt was still ruined which was the one thing I was so upset about. He STILL continued to blame the designer. The total bill for services was $168 after he took $18 off. yes $18!!!!! THEN to make matters worse, after getting home...my brother tried his suit on and one sleeve is altered shorter than the other!!!! I AM COMPLETELY DONE WITH THIS PLACE.....DO NOT EVER COME HERE IF YOU VALUE YOUR CLOTHES. it looks decent looking in, but this place is HORRRILE. the pictures do no justice for how horrible my skirt looks...

    Unfinished

Needles left in my dress in the area where it was supposed to be taken in I returned back home after paid to see this. I went to their store during their working hours 15 minutes prior to them closing and their gate is pulled down.

Remaining stains after i had them clean the dress twice! Horrible service ! I repeat do no support this business .

They get the job done but a few of my items have come back shrunken leaving me unable to wear them and these close items were not cheap.

They are family operated but Kim is usually working the front desk 6 days a week, She always greets you with a smile and is ready to help any way she can. This is our dry cleaning spot but we also have used them for wash and fold, tailoring, and even fixing the heel on my wife's favorite shoes. For regular clothing related services you can expect your clothes back quickly. My wife's shoe came back in less than a week as good as new. They will also work with you if you have time constraints or special requests. I have tried a few other places in the area and the thing that separates Capitol Hill Cleaners is consistent professional service. They always deliver on what they promise. Kim and her husband have been in Eastern Market for quite a while. They are right next to the Market and are part of the fabric of the area. You can expect excellent service, friendly interactions and a fair price.

I thought I would have to throw them all away and it would be a lost cause. I came back to pick them up today and couldn't believe how clean and brand new they looked. I still feel like they had to have gone out and bought the same shirts, couldn't believe it was possible to recover them. Moreso, I was charged the same price I'm normally charged even thought they were so much dirtier. I don't have many dress shirts so I go here once every week and they have been so nice and the shirts have come back perfect every time. Highly recommend this place right by the Eastern Market Metro Station!

Avoid at all costs. They will destroy your clothing…read more Had not used this dry cleaner for about eight years after they ruined a garment of mine. I recently tried them again and deeply regret it. I'm in literal tears. They absolutely destroyed a BRAND NEW very expensive dress. It came back with a tag on the hanger advising that they were not able to remove spots without harming the garment. I thought, "What spots???" I had only worn the dress twice and I only decided to clean it because I was going to store it for winter. It wasn't dirty and it didn't have any "spots" when I brought it in for "cleaning." Tears welled in my eyes as I examined my beautiful floor length dress. There were blue splotches all over the garment, the bodice the back of the skirt, the collar. I tried it on and found that it no longer gently swept the floor as I walked. They shrank the dress and now the skirt is three inches higher and sleeves are too short to button. They are clothing destroyers. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.

Where do I even start with The Press DC? If you're looking for a place to wreck your clothes rather…read morethan clean them, look no further. I dropped off my girlfriend's favorite red blazer, a gorgeous (and not cheap!) leather jacket, and a comfy sweater. All three came back looking like they survived some apocalyptic fashion showdown. Leather Jacket: Once sleek and stylish, now it's literally flaking off like it lost a fight with a cheese grater. Red Blazer: Perfect if you want random splotches and stains as a new design aesthetic. (Spoiler alert: We didn't.) Sweater: Ever seen those horror movies with mysterious stains? Pretty sure they drew inspiration from whatever got splattered on this poor sweater. The real kicker? No one from The Press DC bothered to say, "Hey, heads up, we're absolutely annihilating your garments. Maybe you should come pick them up before we do more damage!" Instead, I got them back ruined--and with zero explanation. I guess common courtesy isn't part of their business model. Look, I get that mistakes happen, but what really sets me off is the total lack of communication. A quick phone call, email, carrier pigeon, something--just to say, "We've got a little problem here," would've been the bare minimum. Now I'm out some once-beautiful pieces and the money I paid to have them "cleaned." Spoiler: I'm demanding a refund because, at this point, that's the least they could do. The entire experience was so ridiculously bad that it's almost funny--except it's my girlfriend's clothes on the line, so it's not exactly the kind of "fun" we're looking for. Long story short: If you value your wardrobe (or your relationship, because who wants to explain this mess to their partner?), do yourself a favor and avoid The Press DC like the plague. It's not the end of the world, but holy crap--my clothes aren't supposed to come back looking worse than when they left. 1 star (and that's me being generous). Never. Going. Back. Here. Again.
