FIVE STARS We lived in CT for almost 25 years. One of our two favorite restaurants was an authentic Thai restaurant in Ansonia. We're not Thai experts but know good food when we eat it. Their food was exceptional. Their Drunken Noodles were our favorite. Until now. We stopped at Aloy Dee today for lunch and my wife ordered the Drunken Noodles. I was a little more adventurous and asked one of the owners (a really nice young couple) for his recommendation. He recommended the Khao Soi which is not yet on the menu. My wife ate every bite of the generous and delicious Drunken Noodles which were every bit as good if not better than our CT place. But IMHO the hit of the day was the Khao Soi. It's hard to describe but a kind of soup/stew of noodles and chicken and veggies swimming in a curry based "soup". To say it was delicious is a vast understatement. As we were leaving the wife gave us each a sample of her enormous chicken dumplings in a special soy sauce. DELICIOUS. We'll be back often to try the rest of their menu. We HIGHLY recommend it to anyone interested in delicious food of any kind - PERIOD. it's an extra bonus to if you love Thai!! They opened in 2020 just as COVID hit so much of their business is still take out but the restaurant is clean and spacious and looks like it could accommodate groups upward of 8-10. This little restaurant is a hidden gem. The owner does the cooking and she serves up somme of the most authentic Thai food.

This is an incredible hidden gem in Lake County! I was very surprised by how delicious and fresh the food was at this restaurant as I pulled up. The beef pad see ew was amazing, and the spice level (3) was perfect. They have a great variety of Thai dishes, and even had a Vietnamese pho dish. This restaurant is not happy or proud of itself. It's sad and past it's prime by a mile. The service was not unfriendly, but just barely there. The food was okay. That's all that any member of our party could say about it. The restaurant evidently used to have lots of tables in it. Now it has two over on one side, four on the other side, maybe five, and a big hole in the middle where there are no tables. Very sad looking. read more

Of the three Thai restaurants in Eustis Mt Dora area (JK Thai, and Snay Thai,) Alloy Dee is IMO, the BEST! The portions are ample, the Vegetables are very fresh and the food is just wonderful. read more

Oh, how I dislike leaving a negative review, especially for a Thai food place, because Thai food is, generally speaking, pretty great. This could be so much better with a little bit of instruction. Chicken laab (laab gai or larb gai) isn't supposed to be soaking in a broth. One of the delights about this dish is that this classic Thai dish offers a wonderful play between the ground chicken and the lettuce. Crucial to a laab is toasted ground rice, mint, cilantro, scallions... I'm stunned that the cooks clearly haven't bothered to learn the basics of this simple , beautiful , classic dish. The tom kha gai was equally uninspired, to say the least. Instead of a rich, luxurious coconut cream-based soup finished with fresh cilantro leaves, it was like something out of a can. The overcooked chicken was hard as rubber. The broth: an insipid, watered-down insult to another classic Thai dish. It's stunning. One weekend reading through a Thai cookbook and you could do ten times better than this. What an insult to Thai cuisine and to the customers who, I suspect, have little idea just how fantastic these simple dishes can be when done right. For those who think this is good Thai food, I admire you, because you still have, in your future, the experience of tasting real Thai food the way it's supposed to made. No one pretends that Lake County restaurants have much to recommend them. This is not a foodie community. But Aloy Dee Thai Cuisine? Boy, have they lowered the bar. And before you claim that I'm leaving this review to get a refund, know that I wouldn't take a refund if you offered it. Just do better. read more

We had been to Aloy Dee a few time before but had not taken the time to give a well deserved review. Aloy Dee serves some of the best Thai dishes you will find. It is an unassuming location, but don't let that fool you. It is a very welcoming open, clean ambiance. We had Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles and their Spicy Basil Eggplant (Thai hot). Both quantity and quality are outstanding, with very reasonable pricing. We started with in-house made Crab Rangoon and Chicken Basil Rolls. You will find none better. The husband and wife team is very friendly and helpful. The service is quick, and food is very fresh and hot. Highly recommend! read more

did a quick phad thai chicken to go never been here and about drove by and we did had to u turn it 2 pm lunch ends but 3 pm drive thru ends we made it for drive thru very good not a sweet but a tangy tamarind what was very very good dont like overly sugary thai which alot of people do good job! read more

Ample parking. Restaurant itself in a worn, aged structure. Inside was somewhat on the dark side. Arrived just as they opened so the A/C didn't have time to kick in. As a result it was somewhat warm and stuffy. Cooled off by the time I left though. Server was pleasant and professional. He was attentive and friendly. I ordered the papaya salad. Not bad, nothing to write home about and the Volcano chicken, which was sweet and tasty but disappointing as it was also tough. During the meal I noticed an odd funky smell like sour milk. I determined it was coming from the table. Apparently someone had wiped it with a dirty rag and it left a sour smell on the surface. Other than that I have no complaints. Service was quick. Authentic Hidden Gem! A part of me wants to keep this place a secret but it's too good not to share. The flavor found in these dishes will make you want to travel to Thailand. The Gyoza appetizer, the Yellow Curry and Garlic Pepper entrees are personal favorites. I can't forget to mention the Thai Ginger Honey Tea which is chef made and so tasty! I stopped by here on a hunch, really. We had noticed the sign stating the restaurant was under new ownership and planned to go in. This was Sunday and we wanted to do takeout somewhere. Under the old ownership and name, it would have been closed on Sunday, but I drove there just in case and found it is open every day and has much broader hours under these owners. I ordered chicken pad Thai for us and looked over their extensive menu while I waited. The owner brought out a salad sample and ice water for me while I waited - a great added touch by someone who seems very nice. So I took a few pictures that you see with this review and waited. The meal didn't take very long and I was on my way home. We both thought the chicken pad Thai was excellent, so I am sure we will be returning, especially as we live not too far away. I hope this new restaurant offering does well. Local Thai places are mostly in Mt. Dora with its parking and traffic issues. read more

This place is an absolute delight. From the owners, who are wonderful and welcoming to the delicious and fresh food. We got seated right away and got a pitcher of water, which was definitely welcomed, since I drink a lot of water. We ordered: Thai ice teas, which came in huge mugs and were absolutely spot on with taste. Tom yum soup with tofu, which was perfectly fragrant with spices, herbs and lemon grass. It had a great "kick" but it didn't burn my mouth, just a great spicy overtones. Cashew chicken with rice - sorry, no photo, forgot to take a picture. It was, however, delicious and fresh. My husband ordered extra rice, since he is a rice fanatic. The rice was cooked to perfection. The cashew chicken is full of high quality ingredients - I especially liked the freshly chopped onions, celery and pineapple. It's safe to say we will be back. read more

Good food here but beware of the Pad Thai. It's nothing like the traditional (in my humble opinion) it had far too much sauce on it and my husband didn't eat it. The owner never came over and asked us how we liked everything. He was very friendly otherwise but didn't even take the time to ask us if we'd been there before (which we had not) Or anything about the menu. It's a small family business and he had is younger children helping out which was honestly not what you expect when dining in. Five stars for amazing food Service needs improvement, I also prefer to see my check before I'm charged and don't think a maybe 9 year old should be running my credit card. That is just very unprofessional. I get the whole teaching your kids young thing but it was strange. Amazing food and I'll be happy to pick up some takeout. You expect to spend a little bit more and have a standard on service when you dine in and they just missed the mark there. We got samosas for an appetizer. They were different because they were in a spring roll wrapper, but we're very delicious! I forgot to get a picture of those. There is a little sauce that they bring with that that has cucumbers and onions and sweet red peppers with the vinegar sauce but it's sweet and it is very very good. If they sold it as a side, I would order it. We also got for our dinners pad. Thai and Thai fried rice with a side of yellow curry. So so good. This is a place we will definitely be returning to. The owner is very kind and very honest about weight time because there is only one person in the kitchen his wife and she's doing all the cooking and the dishes. I definitely would tell anyone to visit. A lot of people place an order over the phone and take it home with them. read more

Wow! The owner is a piece of work! Just tried to dine there, but was told that they're not taking anymore dine in orders, which is fine, but not even offered the take out option that was available. We asked about the take out option when he finally came out, but he didn't seem to want our business. He growled " it'll be a 30 min wait for take out". Aloy Dee Thai is the most authentic Thai food I've ever had, and I'm a serious foodie. Nothing else in Lake County even comes close. The establishment has a simple, subdued vibe, but the food is the star of the show. The best item, in my opinion, is their tom yum soup. Rich, tangy, and packed full of flavor. A close second is the pad Thai, as well as their drunken noodles. Both dishes are perfectly created, flavor second to none. As accurate as they come! I will start by saying we drove two hours to try this place out, and then waited patiently for an hour for our food. When it came we realized it was insanely overpriced. I payed $96 + $10 tip for 3 dishes and $30 of that was for a "large" Curry and when I received it, it was the size of a childrens cereal bowl and had literally no more than a few spoon fulls of "curry." I would love to see what their small looks like. It was essentially a small duck that was basted in curry. Not to mention it was overcooked and was basically a quarter cartilage and fat. Letting that slide, and chalking the size up to a struggling business, when I brought the fact up to the owner that I had no curry in my curry, he has the audacity to say that he would have to charge me for more curry. How are you going to tell a customer who just paid $30 for a tiny bowl of curry that you would need more money FOR THE ACTUAL CURRY. Are you insane? Don't even get me started on the atrocity that is the "sticky rice and mango." It was watery and runny and made of a solid block of obviously packaged frozen sticky rice and unripened mango. Topped with watery flavorless "coconut milk." Sticky rice and mango is normally covered in a creamy coconut milk sauce, this one was essentially splashed with coconut water. The Owner was extremely unprofessional and the food is incredibly overpriced as it is the most expensive Thai food I have had in Florida, and yet nowhere near even top 10 in Thai places in Central Florida when it comes to taste and last for service. Save yourself some money and go elsewhere. Note: You can see by the owners response to my review on google that he is immature and takes zero accountability. He resorts to name calling and insults which proves his inability to handle criticism or take accountability for his actions. Ordered takeout the other night. We got drunken noodles and green curry. The drunken noodles were cooked perfectly and not too greasy. The curry was creamy and the vegetables were crispy. The tofu was perfectly cooked, crispy but still soft. We all agreed this was some of the best Thai food and we can't wait to go back! read more

I was looking for some Asian food in the area and came across this Thai restaurant. It seemed like they now have new owners which is always interesting because food will taste different. We ended up trying the specials they had and it was pretty decent. I've had a lot of Thai food so I'm pretty critical when it comes to Asian food. Overall it was okay, the beef pho is a Vietnamese dish so I'd say it's a Thai twist? Lol it's def not what you would expect other than the rice noodles are the same. Tasty, I enjoyed everything I've eaten from there. The ambiance is rustic, simple, utilitarian. I've never eaten inside but I go inside to pick up to-go orders. Service is friendly, reliable. I recommend the Thai Fried Rice or the Massaman Curry. Also good are the drunken noodles. read more

Ordered 3 takeout entrees: Red Curry with chicken, Garlic Pepper with chicken, and Pad Kee Mad. All three meals were delicious. Excellent food cooked perfectly. Good size portions. Just tried a brand new dish, fried grouper. It was delicious. I ordered it to go and when I arrived home, 15 minutes later, the fish was still warm and very delicious.
