I was the weird kid who never really liked pizza growing up. Even still, I'm pretty choosy about which ones I'll eat. Mellow Mushroom is probably at the top of my list for favorite "chain" pizza here in Florida. This location is great. A large, colorful and clean dining room invites you in as soon as you arrive. Service has always been pretty consistently good. Though sometimes pizzas can take awhile. When I tell you they are worth the wait...believe me! My favorites are the Holy Shiitake, Super Pepp, Great White, Kosmic Karma and the Buffalo Chicken (without Bacon). They have a great happy hour where all draft beers are $4.20. We love stopping in and sharing a pie or two. read more

We love coming to mellow mushroom! The special pizzas that are specific to this location we're very unique. We especially like the Caesar salad pizza which included Caesar, cheese, chicken. We got two large pizzas which were split so we got to try four different flavors it was a great ambience and the service was wonderful. read more

Our experience was great BUT I thought servers with long hair had to put it up so it doesn't get in the food etc. she was verbal and her description of everything and guided us perfectly but once I saw the hair was down, I could not get past it. She did touch her hair. She did wash her hands, but it was waist length. There was also another server that had the hair down past her shoulders as well. read more

This was our first time dining at Mellow Mushroom. We went around 430/5pm on a weekday. We got the Pretzel Bites as an appetizer because we had a coupon for signing up for their email list. They were good but not pretzels, basically pizza dough balls. Tasty but odd they were called pretzels. Our table got burgers and pizza. Those who got the burgers raved at how filling and juicy they were. The small pizzas had four slices but were very filling. I got the House Special which was basically a fully loaded veggie and meat pizza. It was very tasty and well cooked. The others at the table enjoyed their pizzas as well. We also ordered Red Sangrias which were very flavorful and not just red wine with fruit in it. Overall we enjoyed it and it is a good pizza option in Mount Dora, which has some bad and great options around town. Parking was very spotty and I have no idea how they could have space for everyone of the place was full. One side of the lot is for Compact cars but had people parking in the middle of two spaces. So I'm not a pizza lover but mellow mushroom has my heart and my wallet. I have not been here one time and not gotten a pizza I didn't love! My husband and I come here all the time, and I brought my dad too who is not a big pizza fan either and he loved it. My most recent obsession is their Caesar salad pizza. It's all of your salad and pasta/pizza dreams in one dish. Service is usually great, and it's never too busy so it's a nice reprieve if you wanted to eat somewhere not too crowded. Also their music selection is top notch. Whoever has the aux on Thursdays kills it with the throwbacks! read more

We shared a small great white & a small mushroom pizza, extra crispy bottom for both. Soooo good! The flavor was delicious with both pizzas. I recommend this pizza place to everyone. I am very happy to say that after reviewing as an Elite Yelper for 7 years, this is the first time I have changed my review from 1 Star to 5 Stars! Mellow Mushroom went through a complete renovation that obviously did not just update the interior and exterior of this location, but must have had a complete overhaul of the management and staff. We live very close and have visited 3 times now and every time the staff are engaging, pleasant, and all around great servers. We have 5 different pizza places in the area we go to and the Mellow Mushroom is now at the top of that list! Thanks for showing it can be done! read more

Pros: cute atmosphere in the bar area, the meat and shiitake mushroom pizzas had great flavor and the meat pizza was piled nicely with meats, nice attentive waitress Cons: took an hour for our two small sized pizzas to come out (it wasn't super busy), the house margaritas were pretty weak, the shiitake pizza was crust-heavy (compared to the meat, even though we both got classic crust) which made it overpriced n my opinion. This location isn't local to me so I don't think I'll visit it again but there is a location near me that I would visit again because the pizza was good! read more

I stopped in early afternoon for a late lunch. The restaurant was mostly empty but the staff was really welcoming and accommodating. After being seated my server Tom immediately engaged me to take my drink order and provide me with silverware and a menu. I opted for a small mighty meat pizza minus the bacon. This is a beautiful restaurant, very clean and free of any clutter and I loved the open air kitchen. During my short wait for my pizza I was checked on by no less than three members of the staff, all friendly and sincere in making sure there wasn't anything I needed. My pizza arrived and served up by another server ensuring I received it hot from the oven, Tom immediately followed up and dropped off a few packets of red pepper flakes and parmesan cheese and refilled my drink. I've only eaten at one other Mellow Mushroom location and although it too was a pleasant experience this one trumped it easily. My small pizza was a ten inch pizza sliced into four slices which was plenty for one person, even though I had missed lunch and only had a banana earlier in the day there was absolutely enough for me and more. I loved the crispy chewy crust and the toppings were delicious, I did find the sauce a little bland but it's by no means was a deal breaker I think a little salt would have cured it but I didn't ask and there are no condiments on the tables. 5 of us went to this location on Saturday evening Dec 27. We've been many times and usually love the experience. Not this time. We ordered 5 smash burgers- honestly thinking it would be quicker than the pizza, as it usually takes about 30 minutes and it was a Saturday night at 6pm. We waited. After 1 hour we asked our waitress where our food was, saying she would check - Then another 30 minutes passed- Still checking. The table behind us ordered a pizza for 2 people and they were still waiting. 1.5 hours now and not even a manager has come over to explain or offer an apology. Honestly they really didn't seem to care that we were still.waiting. We had to get up and physically find the manager as the staff stopped making eye contact. The 2 hour mark. The Manager finally appeared and said "We dropped the ball, I'll bring over some coupons". Really? . Umm too little too late. We said No, thanks, this is our final visit here. She then said "let me see what I can do about your bill" Finally the burgers came - overcooked and falling apart but we ate them, as we were starving. What a disaster this was! $160 bill came and no sign of the manager. We did not expect a free meal but maybe something to take the sting out of this very long, very disappointing experience. Even a " Hey let me fix this" But Nothing. We paid, gave Peggy a $30 tip as it wasn't her fault, ($190 now) , and resolve to never return. Disaster of an experience. Came here for the first time with my lady and everything looked amazed even when the brought the pizza, I ate a slice and it was good. I go for the second and find a white long strand of hair in my pizza, thought it was cheese and it was definitely not cheese. It was indeed a hair. Made me want to throw up with how disgusted I was. Never received our Pizza. I called the restaurant and spoke to the manager at the time, and the manager said that they use Door Dash and so can't take responsibility for the lack of delivery. The manager said that they did not use store employees for delivery due to liability constraints. I also spoke with the Door Dash person who said that they delivered our 'chicken' which of course we didn't even order and did not receive. Manager said a refund of $40 would be forthcoming to my credit card but that did not happen. Left a subsequent phone message for the manager and never received a return call. Visiting my mom from Maine and was excited to find a pizza place with vegan cheese!!! I ordered the Greek salad with no feta, sub vegan cheese (no extra charge which was nice!!). Best salad I've had in a long time. I ordered the shiitake pizza but was told shortly after that they fry the mushrooms in butter so they just gave me extra reg mushrooms. Pizza was very delicious. The crust typically has parm cheese and butter so make sure you say vegan crust... My daughter and mom had the parm pretzel bites and a chicken pizza both of which they said was great. This was my first time eating at this Mellow Mushroom location and it was a really good experience. The decor is funky and unique. When I checked into Yelp it gave me a coupon for a free pretzel bite with beer cheese which was AWESOME! We had never tried them before and they were covered in parmesan and had great beer cheese. Our waitress was friendly and fast. We had the peach cocktail and the one with bourbon and a cherry, both were delicious! We ordered a medium holy shittake and a small merry prankster. The holy shittake is my favorite pizza and it hit the spot. The sausage on the other pizza was rich and flavorful. The only downside is that it's a little pricey and for 2 cocktails and 2 pizzas we paid almost $60. We will definitely eat here again. Rating from an F to an A+++ I rate it an A+. read more

Had a great overall experience. Our server was awesome and very knowledgeable about the menu and gluten free options available. We were able to get the gluten free pretzel bites at the happy hour rate (no extra charge because they were gf) which was amazing. The dough has a great flavor as well. We also ordered two gf pizzas which were also amazing! UPDATE: Pretzel bites were SO good, we went back two days later. Different waitstaff. Unfortunately we found out that our former server was not as knowledgeable as we thought and in fact MM does not have gluten free pretzel bites. She confused vegan and gluten free and gave us the regular bites, vegan. The team on tonight was very apologetic and the manager explained the situation to us. Many craft beers on tap, bartender said owners like to have local brews. Only big negative for me is the lack of 0 alcoholic beers. They only had Sam Adams Just the Haze, a very citrusy brew and not so great with pizza. For pickup I'm giving this a 1 star!!! We were told 30 minutes to pick up our order. We sat for over an hour!! they gave our pizza to someone else and the people brought it back .... so they had to cook a new one. Ridiculous. I sat and watched people come and go to get their orders. Is their food good .....yes it is. If you want to sit an hour and a half for it. We went here to eat inside....and again had to wait over an hour. So it doesn't matter whether you eat in or out. Thanks to the hostess (to whom I had casually mentioned that it was a busy week and difficult day in response to her perfunctory how are you?), my waitress, and the manager, I got the a glass of sangria at the happy hour price of $3. My lunch did overlap the 3:00pm qualifying hour eventually. When the manager notified me that she approved my exception, the manager mentioned that her employees had told her things were difficult for me this week. I impressed they listened, cared, and let her know. She sat down and visited a moment. I enjoyed her bubbly personality, an obvious people person. I ordered the "great white pizza", topped with four cheeses (feta, ricotta, provolone, and mozzarella), roasted red tomatoes, Roma tomatoes, onion and basil on a olive oil and garlic crust. The cheese was plentiful and ooey, gooey. The olive oil, garlic, and a light sprinkling on grated cheese covered the crust, making me happy to actually eat pizza crust. The house sangria was simple, not too fruity, chilled, and delicious. The manager clued me in that occasionally they will offer different sangrias as unexpected treats for diners. Overall, this newbie was treated like a valued, regular and very much enjoyed my lunch. I don't have a Mellow Mushroom near me so, when I saw they built this one, I got excited. I pass by it often. Well we stopped by on Sunday to see what all the hype is about. We were greeted and seated immediately. Our server was new but awesome! We started with the Munchies-10 Twice Baked wings $11 (5 Thai Chili and 5 Jerk Sauce). These did not disappoint. They were crispy, tender, & the sauce was good! I like the Jerk the best. It is a jerk bbq sauce not a rub. It was spicy but tolerable. We decided to get the "House Special" $21 med pizza (6 slices) which includes pepperoni, hamburger meat, bacon, tomato(slices), onions, olives, on a thin crust. The pizza was really good and fresh!! My son got the kids meal cheese pizza $6 which includes a drink and apples (sub broccoli, or veggies). My son said it wasn't that good. There is a $1 up-charge to sub chips which annoyed me. I've been a fan of Mellow Mushroom for years, but haven't visited in quite some time since the West Palm Beach location closed. My daughter, mother and I visited for a late lunch. We were greeted upon entry and seated almost immediately. The air vent was leaking condensation so we alerted the hostess and she wiped down the seats. We shifted our positions to avoid being disturbed by the dripping water. Our server was Brooke. She was extremely friendly and went out of her way to get information for us regarding the beer I had questions about. My mother ordered red sangria and I opted for the Persimmon Hollow blood orange beer that was on a $3 special after enjoying the sample. Yummy! We started with the pretzel bites and WOW, these were delish! If you enjoy their pizza crust, envision this delicious fluffiness with butter, Parmesan and a hot cheese dip. Oh yeah.... We followed up our bites with two pizzas. My mom and I shared a large house special and my daughter ordered a small pacific rim. There was a mixup with my daughter's pie so Brooke brought out a ham and pineapple one for her to munch on until the one she ordered was ready. I was impressed by her stellar customer service and ability to identify and do her best to rectify the issue. Our food was served hot and everything was truly scrumptious.
