To be honest, I am not much of a pizza person, but I find myself on occasion, in the position of eating food from a pizza shop. A few weeks ago I was on the film set of a movie that was being filmed near "The Pizza Shop". I applaud who ever was in charge of the craft table for the film crew, because the food was purchased from "The Pizza Shop" which conveniently located in the same plaza where we were filming. The pizza was great, and the wings were the best wings I have ever eaten from a pizza place. The wing were perfectly done, with both a sweet sauce and a spicy sauce. If this place was closer to where I live, I would purchase wings there more frequently. This will be a regular stop for me whenever I am in the area. read more

When looking up online, their ad said a 20" was $19.00! Went to order and I was told $40. and change! When questioned then she said it was $36 and change! I arrived and finally was told it was $32 plus tax! I was then told the menu on the website was from 2022! So they never update their websAgainst better judgement I ordered! Watched them make the pizza ( they do NOT wear gloves when making your food!) Then she wiped the back of her had across her nose, didn't wash but continued to make food! New to Mt. Dora and spoiled by real pizza (NY native) this place is a 1 & Done for me... the crust is flavorless and reminiscent of bad frozen pizza. The chicken on my chicken Alfredo pie tasted like it was cooked 2 weeks ago and reheated 13 times... even my dog had a hard time chewing it. I just moved here from NYC. I had enough of NYC but one thing I truly miss is the pizza. Haven't found anything close until I found The Pizza Shop. This place is great! Great tasting pizza and the guys that work there are great. My go to spot for pizza. You have to order the 'big ass pie' when you are ordering for a few friends and family. That's the actual name of the pie, Big Ass Pie. Recently, eating at the restaurant has been more enjoyable with the new booths and large-screen TVs. My favorite pizza is the pepperoni with mushroom large pizza. The last two times, I experimented and ordered the cheeseburger and fries. It was delicious. The fries are crispy and tasty. My friend likes the cheeseburger with fries, too. Now, it's hard to decide whether to have a pizza or a cheeseburger. I like both a lot. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food. The staff is friendly. I order Jumbo Wings w BBQ sauce and XL meat lovers pizza...wings weren't fully cooked nor was there any sauce on them that came with the order. The pizza itself was undercooked and doughy. I had gone into the app I processed the ordered through and they had confirmed with me that the owner was refusing to refund me for this order that I had discarded because I'm not bout to get sick for an order that wasn't completed the right way. The owner apparently has an ego bigger than my order I had put in to just say "sorry I'll do better" and refund me back and could have moved on happily but since that wasn't the case I'll make sure it's known for future orders, if he messes up the orders, he will refuse refund and keep the money. read more

I've had pizza here several times now, and unfortunately it was the same issue every time - the dough/crust simply isn't good. The pizza dough desperately needs salt. When you eat the pizza with their salty cheese, it's ok - but when you get to the crust, it's so bland that it ruins the slice. They do give great customer service though, and they're fast, efficient, and friendly. It also seems to be a good value, and overall fairly priced for the area. Other non-pizza items may be good, but I haven't tried them. I also take issue with the use of unripe tomatoes on the pizza, as well as them putting fresh basil on the pizza BEFORE it goes in the oven. That's a very odd practice. The current business opened in April 2020, so reviews before then are for a completely different business, pizza, and recipe. read more

Visiting Mount Dora with family and after a day of driving we did not want to cook. I had checked out places to eat before our trip and The Pizza Shop looked great and got good reviews. We drove over to the restaurant and it's not much to look at. Looks like these folks took over another pizza place. Very friendly staff took our order and since it's a small place we waited in the car for our order. About 25 minutes later the cashier waved us in to get food. Driving back to the rental we got to smell food... OMG Pizza - amazing. Made right in front of the customer - nothing to hide. Great sauce and crisp crust that did not get soggy. Greek Salad- very good, fresh and a lot. Garlic Cheese knots - very good. Same dough as the pizza. Crisp on the outside... soft inside. Could have had a bit more garlic for my tastes. I am one people that believes there is no such thing as too much garlic. Cheese sticks - sorry guys but cheese sticks just did not work for me. Appears to be baked and not fried and kind of under-done. Overall a solid meal and I would definitely recommend if you want a really good pizza read more

Not sure what to think. I thought the Bocce's guy was still cooking here. Up until now the pizzas and everything have been phenomenal. I did say this was the best pizza I've maybe ever had in Florida. But now I'd say go somewhere else. The crust was really thick and kind of doughy, almost undercooked in places but also burnt on the outside. The cheese garlic knots just sucked. They had no taste and just had a melted slice of cheese on top and barely any garlic sauce on them. They used to be absolutely soaked in the garlic stuff and full of flavor. Oh well. read more

When I call for the refund (overall a $50 order WITH a TIP) same person who delivered acknowledged the salad was ordered. I asked for a refund and she says "I'm not sure how to apply discount, can I call you back I'm really busy and need to work". This turned from not a big deal to a hassle quickly. She promised to call back but didn't. Thought about going the next day but didn't have time so called and left a voicemail to process refund. Never got a return call or refund . Nothing happened with the status for 40 minutes so I called and was told they didn't get my order and the app doesn't work. I was told I'll need to call the app company and tell them I need a refund. After one disappointment after another, my husband and I thought we would never find a good pizza here in Mount Dora. I am sooo glad we found this place! The size of the pizza is about right if you order a large pizza from up north - 16". And their prices are just right as well! We ordered the de luxe pizza and it was very good. Honestly my favorite pizza spot locally. We go frequently, and get everything from calzones and pizzas, to salads.

I'm from Chicago and have my opinion on NY pizza and pie shops that claim NY style pizza. Having said that, and shared my bias, I really loved the flavor of my first slice from The Pizza Shop. Really. NIce portion. Very flavorful sauce. Satisfying crust. Looking forward to ordering the whole pie next time. I also ordered Lasagna and a Greek Salad. Lasagna's was meaty and full of flavor. If it had more Lasagna Noodles I would have considered it among the best in the area. Greek salad was very much to my liking. Really flavorful dressing and nice fresh vegetables. This place has the best pizza in Mount Dora. This is a New York style pizzeria. The owner, Nick is one of the most friendly guys I've met since moving to Mount Dora. He always has a 2 slice and a drink special for only $6. I highly recommend giving them a try. read more
