    Hand-thrown, sparse topping, pizza

Dine in and carry out Small place One size pizza $12 toppings (that's laughable - meaning they are very skimpy) upcharging for each. Ours pizza with 3 toppings $23 (including tax and tip)... not worth it. Hands-down crust was okay but your artisan style sparse toppings will not have me returning (for pizza). I may try from pasta or sandwiches...but you lost me for za.

This is a unique location for a restaurant. The space has been remodeled and reinvented but it's not huge. Italian cafe feels, but it's just a pizza shop. Decent pies a little pricey some trendy ingredients. Sit down waitress service and garlic knots with the salads, paper napkins , you get the picture. Pretend upscale pie shop with a clean efficient vibe. Tasty enough but nothing special just the newest non-chain Italian restaurant in the Golden Triangle area (Eustis, Mt Dora, Tavares).

Was eager to try this pizza as I'd heard many positive things. Ordered online for pickup. Said it would be ready in 15 minutes. The parking lot is fairly small, people parked poorly, so the limited spaces were even fewer. They do have another parking lot on the other side of the theater, but for pickup only, who wants to carry your food across another parking lot and across the side street? Anyway, they were busy with people waiting. I finally asked the women at the counter if my pizza was ready. It was! I paid online when I ordered but the sign said cash discount, which I missed out on by ordering online (I recommend calling if you want to get that discount). I ordered a make your own ham, pineapple and green olives. The pizza was good, but the toppings were skimpy. Actually they used chunk pineapple instead of tidbits or crushed and half olives instead of chopped. So if they cut the toppings smaller and could spread them out a bit it wouldn't seem so skimpy ( this seems so obvious to me- what an easy solution). The edge crust was good but the base was incredibly thin. Overall, big disappointment and with other good options around, I won't be back.

The Southern burger was great, but I tossed off the raw onions as I absolutely hate them, and added the lovely pickled onions from my wife's salad, which gave the perfect amount of flavor and color. Don't you agree? Give me a LIKE if you do !!! The crepe was next level. Delicate crepe, very soft ripe bananas, sauce was not disgustingly sugary, and the vanilla ice cream was smooth and soft, not icy and sweet. Dunno what brand they use, or if they churn the cream fresh in-house, but it made my day.

Driving back to Georgia after a visit to the mouse and wanting to limit our exposure to the I-4…read moretraffic, we drove through the charming town of Mount Dora. There are lots of delightful restaurants there (according to yelpers) but many were located downtown and parking was hard to find so we decided to go to Fifth Avenue Streatery since we had driven by and there was lots of parking. All of which the tables are outside on a charming patio with lots of interesting decor. It was 11:30 so the day was pleasant and sitting outside was fine. Not sure how I would feel about that in August. Our waitress was Haley (guessing at the spelling) and she was bubbly and very attentive. The menu wasn't overwhelming and I always think that's a good sign that most of the food is being prepared fresh and not pulled from a freezer. My mom ordered the fish sandwich with tomato and cucumber salad. After ordering the Italian Haley said they were out of beef until the owner arrived so I went for the day's special which was a seafood basket: two pieces of fried fish, four huge shrimp and clam strips. Clam strips are not my favorite but these were very crisp and tasty. It was served with fries and cold slaw. We both agreed the food was very good. I asked for some cocktail sauce and after a few minutes she came back with saying she had to make some. It was fantastic, very horseradish forward which I loved. I am glad we couldn't locate our first two choices since we got to eat at this funky little place and have the best server in all of Mt. Dora.

Have you ever wondered what German pastry heaven would look like?…read moreWell, look no further, Yalaha Bakery is what you've been dreaming of! My husband and I have been searching for a German bakery since we both have a sweet tooth for baked goodies. He's been telling me about how legendary German goulash tastes since before we got married (it's been a few years now ) and the Yalaha Bakery menu mentioned seasonal soup including goulash so of course we had to stop here. We visited on a rainy Wednesday afternoon around 4:45 pm. This place has modest architecture and a small parking lot, but don't let that fool you since as soon as you open the door, there are 4 glorious levels of tasty treats under a refrigerated glass display and fresh bread in shelves behind the counter. There were about 4 customers in the shop and a few others that came in while we were ordering. Everything looked so delectable, so it was hard to choose from the huge variety! Our bakery order ended up being quite large, so I'm glad my husband brought the cooler with him. We got 1 rhubarb pie (for a gift), 1 rhubarb streusel (another gift), 1 apple streusel, 1 German apple pie, 1 tiramisu, 2 lavender shortbread cookies, 1 eclair, 1 cream horn, 1 Brazilian caramel bar, 4 pretzel rolls, and 4 large pretzels. There might be a few other things as well. The order was about $125 with tip. Excellent customer service by the counter girl, and she was very patient while we were deciding on things. After we packed our pastries in the cooler, we went back to check out the deli section. They had a lot of German deli items to choose from, but what I was really interested in was the goulash. The very kind counter lady (possibly the owner?) took my order, and I couldn't have asked for a heartier, soul-warming soup for about $6. The meat was cooked to soft perfection. The veggies (peppers, tomato, and potato if I recall correctly) melted away while you sipped the soup that tasted like it was made by your favorite extra-skilled German grandma. I was in stew heaven. Of course, I shared a few spoonfuls with my husband, and it was gone in a few minutes. All in all, we discovered that Yalaha Bakery is a hidden gem in Yalaha, FL. If you love bakeries and handmade treats like we do, this is a great place to visit. Prepare your bank account to splurge on pastries, artisan German bread, and remember to stop by the deli! We'll be back again next time we're in the area on one of our road trips.

This location was suggested as they have an enclosed patio to avoid bugs, and it worked out great! The staff were remarkable and even brought an iced water for the dog without even asking! Appreciate that extra touch. What We Ordered: ~ Dockside Scallops (Appetizer): cooked beautifully, and paired with a sauce that complimented the scallops. Loved the citrus for acidity, while having the sweet chili for some spice. I can see this being delicious with rice and a vegetable for an entree, which they also offer. ~ The Big Cheese Burger (sub Cheddar versus American Cheese): Very delicious and a great price point for $15! Definitely left us satisfied as we cut in half to share the scallops as well. ~ Jumper Juice: only $5 all day, every day? Why not try! Though, I'm a vodka fan so this was not my liquor of choice. Still a very refreshing drink that I'm sure many would enjoy. ~ Coke: A classic for a burger, and tasted great on a hot, humid Florida day. Definitely a place I'd return when visiting in the area, and I can see trying the scallop entree or even getting a burger again. Great food, friendly service, and spacious location.

The waitress was terrific but when it came to the food, we both agreed we would not go back. Fish and Chips were ordered and it was mentioned that they tasted Frozen Long John from a box and the 2 fish pieces were small. We paid $1 extra for onion rings which looked good but needed seasoning aka salt. My patty melt was ok and I ordered it with fries which didn't come out with my meal. When the fries came they were fresh which I was happy about that but I needed to salt them for flavor. Went to use the ladies room before leaving and a 1 stall caused a traffic jam on a Saturday afternoon. Can't imagine what it would be like on a busy night. It was busy in there so if you are in the area, try it just don't order fish and chips.
