Hand-thrown, sparse topping, pizza
Phil E.

Dine in and carry out Small place One size pizza $12 toppings (that's laughable - meaning they are very skimpy) upcharging for each. Ours pizza with 3 toppings $23 (including tax and tip)... not worth it. Hands-down crust was okay but your artisan style sparse toppings will not have me returning (for pizza). I may try from pasta or sandwiches...but you lost me for za.

This is a unique location for a restaurant. The space has been remodeled and reinvented but it's not huge. Italian cafe feels, but it's just a pizza shop. Decent pies a little pricey some trendy ingredients. Sit down waitress service and garlic knots with the salads, paper napkins , you get the picture. Pretend upscale pie shop with a clean efficient vibe. Tasty enough but nothing special just the newest non-chain Italian restaurant in the Golden Triangle area (Eustis, Mt Dora, Tavares).

Fifth Avenue Streatery - Mount Dora Burger

Driving back to Georgia after a visit to the mouse and wanting to limit our exposure to the I-4…read moretraffic, we drove through the charming town of Mount Dora. There are lots of delightful restaurants there (according to yelpers) but many were located downtown and parking was hard to find so we decided to go to Fifth Avenue Streatery since we had driven by and there was lots of parking. All of which the tables are outside on a charming patio with lots of interesting decor. It was 11:30 so the day was pleasant and sitting outside was fine. Not sure how I would feel about that in August. Our waitress was Haley (guessing at the spelling) and she was bubbly and very attentive. The menu wasn't overwhelming and I always think that's a good sign that most of the food is being prepared fresh and not pulled from a freezer. My mom ordered the fish sandwich with tomato and cucumber salad. After ordering the Italian Haley said they were out of beef until the owner arrived so I went for the day's special which was a seafood basket: two pieces of fried fish, four huge shrimp and clam strips. Clam strips are not my favorite but these were very crisp and tasty. It was served with fries and cold slaw. We both agreed the food was very good. I asked for some cocktail sauce and after a few minutes she came back with saying she had to make some. It was fantastic, very horseradish forward which I loved. I am glad we couldn't locate our first two choices since we got to eat at this funky little place and have the best server in all of Mt. Dora.

Our first time here as we live 60 miles away…read more Puddle jumpers has a very nice menu to choose from and in today's case we had the fried mahi finger bites, which were very good. They were tender. They appeared to be fresh and they were not overly breaded. We also had their onion rings which we found to be very delicious as well. You could actually bite into them and not have the onion come pulling out, which was a plus and once again, not heavily breaded, but a good taste to the breading they did use. We also tried their fresh pork rinds, and they were excellent if this is your type of food we've only been to a couple places that actually know how to properly make them and puddle jumpers is one of them. The other place was in North Carolina, which went out of business and then one in South Carolina near Charleston, which was a barbecue joint. Our guest had other items as they come here on a regular basis and I know they all enjoyed their food, but I didn't ask to get information for this posting As for ambience, it was a very nice place. Stand at it set alongside the lake with of course the sea planes out front although we didn't see any land we did see some. All the staff was friendly, and our server was Bianca T who all I can say is she was very good and I stayed on top of our table I honestly can't think of anything negative to say about the place other than the ink pen ran out of ink when it came to signing the bill lol

Cutely decorated place The food was really good, gigantic,…read moregenerous portions, and some healthy options but a lot of fried food We had the pitas which is a quesadilla with a pita, which was very good and the bees knees burger, which has a jam and brie, and that was delicious The sweet potato tots were good as well Our server was very sweet and attentive overall a good experience
