China 8 has easily become my go-to Chinese takeout spot in Mount Dora. My usual order is the chicken with mixed vegetables, and it never misses. The vegetables are cooked well, the sauce is flavorful, and it's just one of those meals I know I can count on. Their egg rolls are also a standout for me, especially compared to some of the other Chinese takeout places nearby. We've also had the fried chicken wings, which come out extra crispy and delicious, and the house fried rice is seriously the bomb. My fiancé usually rotates between the Hunan chicken, Happy Family, and General Tso's chicken, and those have all been solid too. The staff are genuinely kind and welcoming, which makes me like this place even more. Just know that they get busy in the evenings, especially going into the weekend. It's common to see a line out the door, so order online when you can and bring a little patience. It's worth it. read more

Was at Hobby Lobby and decided to grab some Chinese takeout. Order at the counter and although there were 3 tables nobody was eating there. They have a large menu selection and prices are reasonable. They said 25 minutes to wait (they were very busy) so I went shopping at TJ Maxs and Ross and even peeked in at the Hallmark shop. It was ready in 24 minutes! I got the house fried rice and joy of joys they don't have peas!! I always say no peas as I hate picking them out. The rice had lots of shrimp and was really good. This spot is mostly to go orders. The prices are reasonable and the portions are as expected. The crab Rangoons (on menu listed as cream cheese wontons 8/$6.95) are so good! My niece paid for our food. They told her food would be done 10 mins. We sat in our car since there was no seating available and it was looking like it would rain. Since, It started to drizzle/rain I opted to go into the restaurant to pick up our order that was paid for. At first she was confused about my order. I told her what I ordered so I went to my car showed her the order number from my phone. She said oh, and got the box from the back. So I got the order and walked out. Never had someone run out accusing me of non payment when I paid. She said her boss told her we didn't pay for our food. My niece tells her I was just in there you took the payment from me. She still accuses we didn't pay. So I showed her how my bank got drafted the payment for the food. She still stood there saying something I rolled up my window and left because that was ridiculous.. I will not be going back to this place because of this. The girl in the front does not know what she is doing and doesn't pay attention at all. They always have everything that belongs in the bag when I get there. One of the best Chinese food places we've found on our travels through Florida. Peter was very helpful and made our orders according to our special diet of no eggs, no fish sauce and less oil. The texture and taste were spot on. We had the tofu chow mei fun, vegetarian fried rice with tofu and the vegetable chop suey. This is another "Go to " place when we are near Eustis, Florida again. Your classics like General Tso's, orange chicken, sesame chicken, beef and broccoli, etc. are on the combination special which comes with an egg roll. Prices of these individual meals can range up to 10 dollars but portions are a good size. I have tried several different combination specials and each have been tasty. I ordered Orange Chicken and pork fried rice, and came with a canned soda. The chicken had candied orange peel in it, and was delicious. Business has plenty of socially distance waiting inside and outside chairs were placed. They also have a plexiglass wall where you order. Food came fast at lunch. This is the best by 85% it would be 100% if they had crab ragoons like wok n roll but they don't even have them on the menu nor do they have hunan chicken. Great Beef on a stick,springs rolls, & egg rolls (they were generous & gave 2 extra). Vegetable lo mein was great but could use just a bit more flavor & last was the szechuan chicken which was great as well but I asked for extra spicy but wasn't spicy at all. I ordered delivery from here tonight and it's sad to say that the white rice was the best part. The terrible service started when the phone was taken away from the nice gentleman who was originally taking my order, to then the impatient man who just wanted to get my order in quick and hang up. My order consisted of the mu shu chicken combo, with an egg roll (which didn't cost enough for delivery according to the impatient one), and an order of moo goo gai pan. I made sure to double check and say that I'd like an egg roll. I told him that I was in an apartment building, gave him the code for the building, and even gave him directions on how to go downstairs to get to the apartment. 45 minutes later I get a phone call with someone yelling at me-I had to ask them to slow down (I'm 31 years old with great hearing btw) They TOLD me to come downstairs in five minutes when he got there. This left me somewhat perplexed as I thought I'd ordered DELIVERY?? Anyway, I went downstairs after four minutes and continued to wait an additional five minutes for him. He got out of his car while talking on his cell phone with the speaker on. He then asked me if I had a pen to sign for it. I had to laugh-where exactly was I going to pull that from?...the bushes? Since I had been told to go outside, was I supposed to bring his pen too?? He really should have TOLD me to bring a pen on his rude phone call prior to. The best part of our visit was when he asked if I wanted to leave a tip..while still talking on his speaker phone. I of course said no thank you. I felt like I was the one that needed the tip at that point. It didn't get any better once I went inside. The mu shu CHICKEN had barely any CHICKEN..it was all shredded cabbage! Good thing I was forced to order more food because the moo goo gai pan (which looked more like soup) replenished my need of protein. There was NO EGG ROLL after I double checked to make sure there would be one. The mu shu chicken was supposed to come with soft shell style wraps and..wait for it..none! Shocker, I know. I love this place! They hand make all of their pork and shrimp egg rules, spring rolls, meat wontons, cream cheese wontons (crab rangoon), etc.. Every order is cooked the way you want it (veg or no veg, spicy or not, add extra meat, veg or egg). This is the only place I'll go for Chinese food! read more

My Boyfriend ordered the Beef Lo Mein with Pork Fried rice, and the lo mein tasted like they boiled spaghetti and added 3 pieces of beef - plus super bland! Same with the rice! Always good. Always fast. Always lots of fresh vegetables in their dishes. China 8 has been my go to Chinese fast food take away for over 10 years. I prefer to order from China 8 because of their white rice. I believe one can usually tell what the food will be like by trying the plain white rice. China 8 has fresh and clean and long grain jasmine rice. I have ordered white rice many times from many places around here when I am making a big dish of fried rice at home. It's an easy cheat as I only have a 4 cup rice cooker at home. I have tried China star. Lampu. And the other Chinese place at Stoneybrook plaza. Out of those places, I prefer China 8. During Covid the delivery is super fast and I haven't had to wait long for my food 20 min from phone call to my door. You just can't beat it. Plus the veggies are so great. Their green curry is pretty close to a Thai version with coconut milk base. It's all good- even the chicken wings. It's worth giving them a try. And remember if you ever want to make fried rice and don't have a rice cooker, getting a few large containers of plain white rice is an easy cheat for rice done right whether you plan to cook with it fresh or day old.
