You can order direct from the qMenu app a lot of Chinese restaurants use (or from the website). Dinners average $12 - $14. They are fast and efficient here and have practically anything hot and ready in under 10 minutes. I particularly like the Mongolian Beef and General Tso's tofu, but we've tried a dozen different dishes and all of them were good. The family run business is one of my favorites when I haven't taken anything out of the freezer or don't feel like cooking. The food is always fresh and tastes great. The young man that runs the front counter and takes the phone in orders is always pleasant and friendly and his parents always wave from the kitchen area. It's hard to find a great Chinese restaurant in this area. China Chef does a reasonable job of it. It has remained takeout only, so I cannot comment on the ambiance. The Fried Dumplings were cooked appropriately and tasted good. The Wonton Soup was ok. The Shrimp in Lobster Sauce was the first I've had in this area that had the proper consistency. The House Lo Mein had enough shrimp, chicken, and pork in it. Though it's not the best I've ever had, I enjoyed it and will return for more. read more

We had not ordered from China Chef in a while because we felt they were trending downwards in their quality. We decided to give them a try again and we were very pleased. We ordered the steamed dumplings. The dough was thin and they were light and flavorful. Before they were very thick and doughy. Now you can taste the filling. We also ordered eggrolls and we were also surprised that they were not the old thick doughy wrap but thin and crispy. The Singapore mei fun was made deliciously- Spicy and not gritty of curry powder. Best Chinese takeout spot in the Mount Dora area. And I've tried them all. The food is consistent and fresh. The place is cleaner and more welcoming than most Chinese spots. And the service is great - unlike most places that glower at me and have no personality, these folks always greet me with a smile and remember my name. In fact they even gave me a cool Chinese calendar to commemorate the new year. If you're looking for super gourmet fancy food. This may not be the place for you. Great family run Chinese food restaurant. Staff is always friendly. Each time I call in an order I leave my house (10 minute drive) and it's ready for me to pick up. Despite negative reviews, we live nearby and eat here a lot! This place has standard Chinese food that you can get anywhere, is it amazingly spectacular? No... but it definitely does the trick if you're craving some decent Chinese takeout! Ok... I have given this place several chances to see if it's just a bad day that I went but this place is consistent with being the last place for Chinese food that I would go to. The food is so bland, fried rice is almost white with peas that are obviously uncooked properly(hard like pebbles). The wings are ok and I might still go there for them. May 12, 2017. I have ordered here once before. The lunches today were chicken with cashews and beef with vegetable. I do like their vegetables. The meats tend to be some sort of pressed meat (like steakums?). I found a difference this time to last time. This time, the fried rice that was part of the lunch special in both of the lunches seemed not to be today's freshly cooked rice. If you have ever cooked rice, and put left overs in the fridge, sealed, have you noticed the next day or the day after, that the rice seems almost undercooked? No longer moist. That is what the fried rice was like today as opposed to the last time I ordered two lunches here. I am guessing, without any proof, and from 45 years of cooking experience, that that fried rice was at the least from yesterday, maybe even the day before. This restaurant has fallen slowly downhill I'm sorry to say. The people are nice at the counter but the cook is lacking in the flavor and technique categories. Our General Tso Chicken was a total disaster, no flavor, so bland. I give the rice a 4 rating for texture, nice and fluffy, very good. However, when you order General Tso Chicken the restaurant asks you if you want "fried rice" and this did not seem like the fried rice I've had AT ALL! More like good steamed to me. First time I got food from this place it tasted like old cooking oil and the fried rice was a weird color. Didn't go back for 6 months. Thinking I might have been to harsh I ordered again. I was and still an hopeful this place gets better since I live right next to it. However, I've ordered there 4-5 times now and there's no consistency. I always order dumplings. I tried the fried ones first and they were fried, to the point you couldn't even bite into it. Everytime since I've ordered the steamed dumplings, this way I can pan fry them at home. It works but last night (8-23-2016) when I got them the meat inside had a funny taste and the meat inside was different. The seasoning was not the same as before and the sauce tasted only of soy sauce. The boneless spare ribs are bland and fatty. Generals Tso chicken had no flavor. Beef lo mein was just ehh and the fried rice wasn't that good. Now I can keep explaining what I don't like but this place won't be in business long enough to really care. I tried this new place three times, and each time, the food was bland. The egg rolls had no flavor and were all cabbage. The hot and sour soup was neither hot, nor sour. I had to add siracha and vinegar to fix it. General Tso's chicken was okay, but that dish is hard to screw up...China Wok by the Gold's Gym in Mount Dora has way better soup, lots of veggies and flavor in their hot and sour soup. We order from China chef 2 or 3 times a month. My husband, who generally isn't a fan of Chinese take-out, really enjoys this place. The food is always fresh, and made to order. Veggies are crisp, and the sauces aren't think or gloppy like some places, so you can really taste the food. I appreciate that special requests aren't a problem, they are always happy to make something the way you want it (no mushrooms, extra garlic, etc...). If you want your Chinese food to taste like it has been sitting under a heat lamp all day, and overladen with chemicals, then this is not the place for you. I tried all the Chinese take out restaurants around the Sorrento area ,I been to the new China chef in Sorrento twice now, the first time I ordered the shrimp and vegetables ,to many vegetables not much shrimp barely any sauce not much taste , I ordered the donuts for desert i thought it would be fried dough , it was frozen biscuits with sugar on them ,not very good , I figured that maybe it was just because it was newly opened , so I tried it again , ordered the beef with vegetables the veggies we're good but the beef was chewy and grizzly, the shrimp rolls were ok . Iam normally not a complainer but usually when I get beef from other Chinese take outs the beef is usually very tender , it is what I usually get. I don't know if I will go back for a third time.
