I'm pretty sure somewhere in Japan a master sushi chef would be preparing himself for hara-kiri if he saw the pictures, but we loved it! Tried the nachos, poke' "taco" with Cheeto dust and the shrimp "hot dog" sans Cheetos. All were amazing and a delight to just see on the table. I just want to take a minute to shout out the staff especially Jonathan the FOH manager who helped me in a major way. I received a gift card for the wave in October 2025 and digitally could not find it anywhere . I called the wave and Jonathan was incredibly nice with me and stated he would call me back and work with his tea to locate it. I thought they wouldn't be able to find it but he did ! And that next day went to the wave and used it. Our server was very nice as well! So all in all the staff was super . As for the food, I would say 4/5. We had the Krab Rangoon cheese sticks and they were just okay- I heard people rave about them but I didn't see the hype. We ordered soup which was just okay. Wave has such a unique menu! It's hard to pick one thing to try. We had a cocktail and I ordered a sushi taco. This may be one of the best sushi presentations and taste I've had. I did have them add spicy mayo to the taco since it doesn't come with it. We do not live in the area but would definitely stop in again if passing through. Tried the Golden Buddha roll (shrimp tempura with plantain + mango sauce) and a chicken hibachi bowl - both were incredible. The roll had the perfect touch of sweetness from the plantain, and the hibachi was packed with flavor... everything cooked perfectly. We showed up at 7:52 with no reservation (they close at 9) and were quoted a 35 min wait. I double checked that it was okay with the kitchen closing soon and they reassured us it was no problem - and they meant it. They kept taking names and never turned anyone away. The staff was seriously impressive - everyone was moving nonstop. Hosting, serving, running food, packing to-go orders, bussing... a full team effort and it showed. We were seated right at the 35 min mark, never felt rushed, and our waitress MyKayla made sure to let us know when the kitchen was closing so we could get anything else in. Super thoughtful. Also, some of the menu items are WILD. A guy nearby got his dish, started laughing, and said "how do I even eat this?!" The creativity of the dishes was nothing short of exquisite and tasted divine. The food options are truly a sushi lovers dream. The Krab Rangoon Mozzarella sticks were the perfect amount of cheesy and warm flavor and then fried to perfection. Oh my goodness! We sat down at Wave for an early dinner during our Mount Dora trip. Just looking at the menu alone is amazing! This restaurant does a fun twist on the Asian fusion theme. Their fun and creative ideas made placing our order just a little bit harder. The krab rangoon mozzarella sticks were my absolute favorite! Fried perfectly with an extra crisp and creamy on the inside. Another favorite was their mocktail that came in an actual Chinese take out box! It was fun to drink. My friends loved the sushi fries and sushi hot dog. I was not a big fan of the sushi burger. The buns are made out of fried sushi rice. I thought the buns were just too thick. I ate half of one bun with the spicy salmon filling. However, portions are fairly large and shareable. Over all, food was good and presentation 10/10! The vibe of this restaurant is chill. The walls are painted with cool graphics making it a cool spot for photos. Our waitress was helpful with recommendations and checked on us often. My only complaint: there is no WiFi here! Had an absolutely amazing experience at wave!! It has been on my must try list for a loooooong time. The food absolutely lived up to my expectations. We ordered the crab rangoon mozzarella sticks, sushi tacos, sushi tots, a sushi hot dog, and ramen. Every single thing was delicious and well prepared. I can see why this place gets great reviews. First, I love the unique artwork inside of the restaurant. The service was quick and for sushi for a table of four I thought the sushi came out very fast. I love the different and unique options they had. I saw sushi burgers, sushi, pizza, sushi, nachos, and other things. I had the pork baos, this super Mexican role and the Godzilla role. Excellent food and service! Came here based off of some TikTok videos I saw. I arrived and was able to join a mobile waitlist from my vehicle. Once seated, I ordered a Holy Crab, Over the Rainbow, and a Godzilla. All three were phenomenal! The Holy Crab (not on menu) was crab and you dip it into a warm butter ponzu. Holy cow this was my favorite. Over the Rainbow was a California roll topped with diced tuna, salmon, yellowtail, spicy mayo, eel sauce, masago, and scallions. The Godzilla roll was tempura shrimp, smoked salmon, avocado, topped with seaweed salad, fried shredded krab, and eel sauce. Loved the seaweed salad and the fried shredded krab salad! I also ordered a soft shell crab tacos to go. This was a tempura fried nori shell filled with a fried soft shell crab, seaweed salad, sushi rice, scallion, sesame seeds, eel sauce, and masago. As usual, this restaurant always has delicious food for us when we come to Mount Dora. I love all things sushi, and you can't go wrong with any of the rules here. If you've tried any of their fun sushi creations like their donuts, tacos, pizza be prepared should just order one because it is very filling. My sister and I love sushi so decided to check out Wave for their Bite30 promotion since it seemed unique. Appetizer, entree, and dessert for $39 was a great deal considering their normal menu prices. For appetizers we tried the crab rangoon mozzarella sticks and the Wave nachos. The nachos had a great spice to them, and I thought the use of wontons as chips was clever. The mozzarella sticks stole the show though. They were by far the best thing I ate all night!! They were huge, stuffed full, and ate so cheesy and gooey. As a bonus, they came served with the most delicious dipping sauce. For entrees, we chose the sushi hotdog and the tuna supreme sushi pizza. I didn't taste the hotdog, but it was huge and packed full of stuff. The pizza was really good. I actually enjoyed just eating the toppings off of it (without the rice) instead of biting into it like a pizza. It was very spicy, which I enjoyed, plus every inch of it was packed with toppings! It was very filling. Dessert was a Vietnamese tiramisu. Not sure what made it Vietnamese because in my opinion it tasted like a regular tiramisu. It was just ok, nothing special. It needed more cream and coffee flavor. That was the only real disappointment of the meal. Overall this was a fun and tasty take on some sushi classics. read more

I was seated quickly and the friendly Mykala was ready to take my order. The Harumaki (veggie rolls) with sweet chili sauce was good, though a bit more doughy than I prefer. The restaurant is actually quite big with ample seating downside the chairs a little rough - metal chairs with not much padding - better have some natural cushion...lol Wide variety of menu options with the not so traditional sushi items. Service was a bit slow this day with average table occupancy but was accomadating with special request to our orders. Ordered the Sushi Pizza - with all Salmon and the sauces on the side. Sushi Donut with non spicy krab mixture and the Bulgogi no fried egg and Kimchi. Everything tasted great and our special order request was made exactly as we wanted. Jessica was our waitress and she did a great job waiting on our family of 5. We ordered the Wave nachos, and calamari as appetizers. It was very busy as it was the day after Thanksgiving and many people were in downtown Mount Dora to look at the Christmas lights, which are beautiful as well. Parking can be a bit of a headache in downtown Mount Dora so you may have to walk a little bit ,but if you are sushi lover, definitely try Wave! If you're in Mt. Dora, I'd give this place a try. It's not worth a long trip if you're not in the area, but decent enough to go. Don't wear your best shoes as the entrance was off of a dusty, gravel alley. I don't know how temporary that is, but that was the experience at the end of 2024. The Crab Rangoon Mozzarella Sticks were soooooo delicious. One of the more creative things I've seen in my adventures. The were gooey and had a nice mix of mozzarella and crab rangoon filling. The chili sauce was a great touch too! Bring more! 5-Star Dish! The Poke Taco was loaded with fresh fish and was absolutely amazing. The price seemed high until it came out, then I understood! So good! The atmosphere is more church basement turned into a restaurant than the cozy modern asian fusion place they're trying to portray. The cocktails were terrible. They're all Sake based and they tried to mimic "real" cocktails with them, and for me, that failed. Just push Sake and Beer instead of this. They looked amazing, but ewwwww. We weren't fans. I doubt I'd go back as there are other restaurants I'd like to try in Mt. Dora and it's a good hour away from me. The atmosphere and cocktails kinda ruined the experience for me. Came here with my friend for Bite30, they had a 38$ pre fix menu which was a steal. Really good place to eat when you want to spend a day/night in Mt Dora. All of the sushi creations they make and post on their instagram page are so cool too. In regards to what we ate I wasn't a huge fan of the krab rangoon mozzarella sticks it was more cheese than anything but the nachos were even better in my opinion. We also ate the sushi hotdog and the sushi pizza and both were really good. They were out of the Vietnamese tiramisu, so we switched for fried Oreos which you can't go wrong with. read more

Went to lunch with my daughter at Wave Asian Bistro & Sushi. We arrived as soon as they opened at 1100, and were immediately greeted and seated. The wait staff was very polite and attentive checking on us several times and collecting our drinks. She offered to answer any and all questions. This is not your typical Sushi place! They take Sushi and present it as other types of food. I had a sushi crunch wrap. It was so large that I gasp when it arrived. I chuckled at my daughter's dish. She ordered the "hot dog" sushi, which didn't have any hot dog in it at all. It simply appeared to look like a hot dog. It's certainly a conversation starter. So if you are into sushi and you want to try something that tastes great and looks unique, look no further than that the Wave Asian Bistro. I did look around the restaurant and there were lots of other people eating normal or regular sushi, rice bowls and everything you would find at a typical Asian restaurant. Our visit left a sour taste in more ways than one. The rice was underseasoned and stiff, not the glossy, lightly vinegared bite you expect from a fresh roll. But the real disappointment came from the imitation crab in the roll. It tasted processed and artificial, with a sweet, chemical flavor that overwhelmed any other ingredient. The texture was mushy and paste-like, not the satisfying, slightly chewy snap you get from real crab. Color looked unnaturally bright, which didn't help the perception of freshness. It felt like the crab flavor was being shoved into the roll with too much sauce, masking the lack of real seafood rather than balancing it. For a place to call itself a sushi spot, these fundamentals were off. If you're going to use imitation crab, at least ensure it's of better quality, properly seasoned, and used in a way that doesn't dominate the whole roll. I won't be back, and I wouldn't recommend this option to others seeking decent sushi. read more

The environment was very casual. The kitchen is open to the public view. So you'll likely come out smelling like food and oil from the fryers. The servers were nice and helpful with recommendations. Always check out photos before you order. The menu is huge and it's hard to picture what you're ordering without the photos. They had the most interesting options from burger, wraps, burrito, donuts, taco, pizza and other typical rolls. Their appetizers are also out of the ordinary. I got the salmon taco with the hot Cheetos crunch. It's basically a seaweed taco shell covered with crushed hot Cheetos, the inside had sushi rice, seaweed and topped with raw salmon. I also got the sushi tots as appetizers but it was a bit overload on the tots. It was actually made of rice and fried on the outside. It is then loaded with spicy tuna, some sauce and avocado. The tots are good with sauces. But it's a bit too much rice for me. I also had the oasis roll to share. It had no rice and loaded with protein. It's probably a great option for someone avoiding carbs. The restaurant is located in downtown Mt. Dora, so it's very hard to park. There's a parking lot next to the restaurant with no spots open. I actually parked further out by Watson realty. The perks is having lots of stores to see and walk around before or after your meal. There was plenty of seating inside so I didn't have to wait long. There's construction on the outside of the restaurant which makes it hard to go in on a wheelchair or stroller. The restrooms have baby changing station. read more

For starters we had the egg rolls and a pork belly and butter crab bao bun. All were delicious, but the butter crab bao blew me away. The pork belly was also a great cut of meat - pork belly can be kind of hit or miss sometimes. We shared the Orlando roll and a poke taco. The Orlando roll was fried which I love, and it had chicken in it which I typically wouldn't order in a roll, but it was so good!! The poke taco was delicious, with a shell of tempura seaweed. 100% will be back here again to try the burrito next time!
