Food is very tasty. Portions are large. Prices are good. They are always prompt with my order. I like everything about East Wok except the staff dynamics. As others have mentioned in reviews, the young lady usually at the register is not a smiling face. I will say that if I was being yelled at constantly by the guy in the back (presumably owner or manager) I wouldn't be too happy either. However, I would definitely recommend East Wok. Lunch portions were huge. Price was low. The food was good, not exceptional but good. Sadly, the young girl at the counter had ZERO personality. She acted as if she was forced labor and seemed like she wanted to be anywhere else but there. Not a smile or a thank you. She's definitely not the person for that position. All in all I didn't see a huge difference in this place vs other strip plaza Chinese places although I will say that this one was much cleaner than many others I've visited. Have lived in area 3 years, but finally tried it today. Ordered the lunch specials of Gen Tso's chicken and Chicken with Cashews. Both came with Pork fried rice and a can of soda. Both were excellent, and were large portions. Have enough leftover for another meal. Best Gen Tso's I have had in awhile. This will definitely be our go to place for chinese takeout. read more

I live nearby, my family and I only order from East Wok, (we HAVE tried other establishments in the area) no other establishments of the like compares to the fresh food you get from East Wok. I also greatly appreciate that you can substitute a few items (for a small, reasonable fee) so you're getting what you want- and not just what is served. The service is always good, whether you talk to the woman or the girl. And they always get our order correct. This is located in the Publix shopping center. Called in the order for take out. They didn't have Mongolian chicken on the menu, but they had Mongolian beef, so I ordered the chicken It wasn't ready in 10 minutes as they said, more like 15, but that's no big deal. The portion size was good. The Mongolian chicken was extremely spicy. To the point I couldn't eat it. I don't know what they did but it was not lithe brown sweet sauce that usually comes on it. They were so nice, took the time to answer menu questions & had our food ready fairly quickly. As soon as I walked in the aroma told me the food was going to be delish & it was! Only negative I can think of is about the rangoons. Personal preference is for them to be formed into basket shape with crunchy edges. Here they serve them in puffy triangle shape so the edges were more cardboardish than crunchy; but eggrolls, springrolls & entrees were perfect!!! I absolutely love that they go the extra mile & place to-go orders in a red, insulated, sealed bag, so if you're like me & don't live in Tavares, food will still be warm when you get home. This restaurant has very good proportions of food, the quality is very good in the service where they prepare the food and also good. The biggest complaint is they have this very young girl who works the cash register and she has no personality at all, she has never smiled in the mini years. I've been going there. It looks like she is very unhappy to be working so they need to get another person behind the register to greet people when they come in because she is very very low on the totem pole of public relations. I understand she is probably part of the biological family that owns this establishment but they need to get her trained better to meet and greet the public. It makes you feel like you made a mistake by coming there. So if the owners do read yelp, I hope they take in consideration about getting her either trained properly or changing her right or someone else that has way more pleasant personality read more

90% of the time i get the same thing: general tso's tofu i use to eat in the little dining area they have, but it's closed now, so i use the outdoor tables that belong to the mexican restaurant or, eat at home honestly, i can't think of one single chinese restaurant that does it better or that i like to frequent more, except for the one i use to go to in the 1980s, in fairfax, va or maybe i should say 'since' the one ... the owners are the nicest, hardest working people i know read more

I was very happy to find eggplant on the menu! It is the only take out Chinese restaurant in the Golden Triangle area I have found with eggplant on the menu. Last night I drove past many other Chinese take out places to get eggplant from East Wok and it was well worth the extra time and driving. The eggplant was cooked perfectly and the garlic sauce was excellent. This is the third time I have tried this eggplant and it has been good every time. I can't say anything about the other menu items because I haven't tried them, but if they can do eggplant this well I bet other items are very good too. read more

Finally an Orange Chicken with some spice. Every Chinese place has this on their menu and it always has a pepper next to it indicating that it is spicy. Usually it is not. My nose was running during and after my consumption of this orange chicken and that's a good thing. Broccoli and white rice were cooked perfectly. We have been going to East Wok somewhat regularly, and have always ordered pretty much the same things. We do that because it always pleases. Today was different. I noticed they had chicken noodle soup on the menu, and my wife has been wanting some for the last week, so I ordered a large bowl. Awesome! I haven't had soup this good in awhile. My wife and I are from NY and know Great Chinese. We have been having a hard time in Florida and where we live in st Petersburg to find good food. This place In Tavares Fl by my sister is awesome. The girl and guy who you deal with aren't very friendly at all lol but the food is really good. My wife got the Pad Thai and I got the pork egg foo young. I have had the Mongolian beef, bourbon chicken before and that was also really good. Place looks very clean and always busy. No delivery is the only down fall and maybe some smiles lol read more

Overall, it's fine when you have a craving for Chinese. We had lo mein, fried rice and hot and sour soup. Acceptable, nothing outstanding. Typical endless menu. Lady who answered phone seemed uninterested. If we had to choose between this and China king, would stop here only because it's closer. Don't even bother ... YEP, it was that bad! Stopped by to try East Wok chinese restaurant, saw that it was a hole-in-the-wall, but gave it a GO due to curiosity. Got three takeout selections, Chicken Lo Mein, Buddha Delight and Kung Pao Chicken ... classic items. All were old and over done. It is easy to spot when the lo mein noodles were in bits and pieces (due to constant reheating and stirring), the broccoli was soft and over cook (again due to overheating) and the other veggies mushy. My husband and I stopped to pick up dinner on the way home from work this is the third time we have eaten there . The first two times the food was tolerable but def. it great, we were told it was under new owner so thought we would give it one more try. Same owners and same bad service and just tolerable food. The young lady that answers the phone and takes your order is about 14 years old and super rude. Very bad attitude she answers phone and speaks to you as if your bothering her, my husband ordered and she repeatedly huffed and sighed and when he asked her to read back the order she said "I got it" and hung up on him. He had the General Tso's chicken and fried rice with no onion. They did not make it without onion as he asked and his chicken was soggy at best, I fried it quick in the pan to crisp it did him. The beef and broccoli was horrible. Beef was undercooked and there was so much sauce it was swimming in it. Very unhappy with this place and will not be back. read more

I always say "a place will be two of the following three: Yummy, Cheap, and Healthy." If not the third one, it certainly fulfills the first two. Pretty much anything you order from this place is great. I've been here at least 10 times and I've never felt disappointed with my experience. I've had the curry beef, the mu shu pork, the ma-po tofu, the General Tso chicken, and the sesame chicken. They were all great, if you are a fan of those foods. The food isn't expensive whenever you go, but it's really cheap during the lunch hours, which comes with a drink and rice along with the entree.
