I really enjoyed my experience at Alora! I saw they had good ratings, and I really wanted to get a haircut and a treatment before the next month, since I needed low maintenance hair. I got a Brazilian Blowout, which can be more of a challenging service, and they did a great job. The salon's vibe is quite calm and they didn't make me engage in any conversation more than I wanted to, since I really prefer to relax quietly at salons. I believe I had Elizabeth and the salon owner (?) and they worked on me at the same time, so I was out of there really quickly. I wish I had been warned before sitting down that I'd have two stylists, since the Brazilian is an hourly cost appointment, but they worked quickly and efficiently and it actually cost just about what I pay at any other salon for the same service, and I got out within 2 hours, so I have no complaints. I visit salons a lot and appreciated the cleanliness of the salon, and got a wonderful haircut, but I will say that I did feel slightly judged about the hair I came in with. I did my last haircut myself, due to my old stylist moving, and both stylists gave me slack for doing it myself, even though I was quite upfront about the poor haircut quality, and it didn't really make me feel very good about myself. I do understand that it made my hair harder to work with, and I appreciate them having the time for a trim, but I've had a lot of hair stylists show more grace and understanding of the financial times we live in. That being said, I really enjoyed the experience overall and have made several appointments for nonhair services, too, since the haircut went so well and since I love that this is a full service salon and everything can be done in house. As it's been a week or two since the Brazilian, I can say it is holding up wonderfully and is everything I asked for and more! UPDATE: Mickie is, perhaps, my favorite nail artist of all time. I've seen probably 100 nail artists and over 50 shops, but Mickie did the most PERFECT job on my builder gel set. I have never had such clean cuticles or had someone pay that much attention to detail, as well as continually making sure I liked the shape and style of the french. She was so helpful in picking out colors and styles and I will continue to come back as long as Mickie is doing my nails. She also completed a Lash Lift and Tint, and it was great! read more

I originally had an appointment scheduled for Saturday, but got off work early Thursday and called around 5:30 just to see if they had any openings for a Keratin Express Blowout. I told them no worries if not, but they said to come in. I arrived less than two minutes later and they took me right away! Kris (I believe that was her name) did the wash, and she was very gentle and thorough. Honestly one of the more relaxing shampoo experiences I've had. From there, Mary took over and did an amazing job. She was professional, kind, and checked in with me throughout the process to make sure I was comfortable. Everyone I interacted with was friendly, and the salon itself is clean, quiet, and very relaxing. They also offered drinks with a menu. I got the strawberry milk tea and it was great. What really stood out was that Mary went above and beyond. She finished my hair treatment at around 7:05 PM, yet she offered to do my eyebrow wax that I originally had booked for Saturday. I told her it wasn't necessary since they were already closed, but she insisted it was fine. My brows came out exactly how I wanted -- just cleaned up and evened out. She stayed late -- at least 20 minutes past closing while I was there, and likely longer to clean up. Pricing was very fair: $150 for the Keratin Express Blowout, $25 for extra long/thick hair, $15 for the brow wax, and $6 for the tea ($196 total). I'm very happy with my hair and overall experience. So I'll start by saying my mother(God rest her soul) was a salon owner and did our hair obviously for all our lives. When she passed, we didn't realize for along time that we needed someone to do our hair. Initially I started utilizing what she taught me and trimming our hair but as my kids grew up and had complex wants and me wanting layers in the back etc., I knew we needed a professional. 2-3 disasters later, I realized we needed to find "the one". We showed up with a corrective need because we took another run to find a stylist (that when so terribly wrong) and she exceeded our expectations!! I have been going to Lena for many years and when she moves to a new salon I always follow her and I was elated when she told me she was opening a brand new salon with 2 other stylists. This salon is definitely chic looking and very tastefully decorated. The 3 stylists, who own this business are always courteous, friendly, and true professionals. Lena is the best stylist I have ever been to and she cuts my hair exactly the way I ask her. They have a lot of both women and men customers and can do most any style and color you want. Salon Alora is very clean and has a really cool atmosphere and the customers are treated special. I have been to salons where the owners are not friendly and it is obvious they are in it just for the money. Well, not at Salon Alora. They are very customer oriented. Samoeun (pronounced Simone) at Alora is amazing! I've done full color, root touchups, mini highlights, and a couple of haircuts with her. She's thorough and client- responsive. If you're not 100% satisfied, she is willing to work towards a solution so you are - just communicate with her. I went ahead and did my nails during my last hair appointment while waiting for my color to process and I couldn't be happier. Mickie was attentive, detailed, and fast. The salon is clean, well-kept, offers tons of services and has a welcoming atmosphere. My college-age daughter accompanied me twice: once for color correction, and cut with Sandy; and a second time for a wolf cut with Jessica. She was thrilled after each visit. I adore this salon! I'm surprised to see a review about a personal issue from a former employee. As a customer, my experience at this salon has been consistently positive. The staff is professional, friendly, and talented. Considering this is one side of a story.. I personally think it's unfair to let one persons (past employed) behaviors reflect on the entire establishment.. and to judge the entire salon based on one person's actions, especially since they're no longer employed here. I walked in to meet Emma, a 19 year old!!! I wanted to run!!! No way did I imagine she could cut my wavy hair!! Obviously it would've been rude to cancel!! Samoen works magic with this "old-lady" hair - managing to bring texture and shape to my super straight hair that is soft as a baby's. My hair was a mess before I started seeing Nangkam yam at Salon Alora. She has exceptional coloring skills and cuts my hair to my liking every time.
