Fresh and made to order. Friendly staff who was very detail oriented asked if I needed a for or chopstick and offered ginger shoyu and wasabi. Convenient parking right out front. This is my new fave lunch spot. I got two California maki and two California hand rolls all under $20.

Lots of food for the price. Fast and nice service. Great for a quick lunch. Would definitely buy again

This is probably my favorite take-out sushi place in this part of town, and I live super close to it. I've lived in the area for over five years now, but didn't know about this spot, nor would I have sought it out, but a friend of mine took out from here for dinner and shared with me. She got the dynamite roll, which is a shrimp tempura roll topped with spicy tuna and a spicy hot sauce. It was stellar! I decided to take out from here prior to a beach day and got the dynamite roll, rainbow roll, spicy tuna, natto, and vegetable hand roll and cucumber maki. I am only knocking down to four stars because I was less impressed with the food this time - the fish just seemed more obviously "previously" frozen (which of course I already knew given the prices), but we all enjoyed our sushi nonetheless. There is a huge menu so I'm looking forward to trying different items and it's nice to know I can get decent take out sushi so quick and close to my house. I'm looking forward to self soothing with sushi when I have a hard day and want yummy food that is quick, convenient, and delicious. What with it being sushi, it will definitely feel like a splurge without breaking the bank!

Support small local businesses! This aloha sushi location offers a large menu with generous portions, fresh tasty sushi, and very reasonable prices! The workers are kind to answer any questions and accept any modifications if needed. My family and I love their rolls- tuna, spam, philly, tamago, and more!! My fave is definitely the dynamite maki, which is a tempura rolled topped with spicy ahi and sweet chili sauce. They don't skimp out on the filling on their hand rolls! Located right next to the 711 on Nuuanu and has its own parking lot and some outdoor seating. Check them out for your sushi cravings!!

Great spot I discovered yesterday while I was in town. The prices are really good compared to most sushi places I've been to & the owners greeted me weight away & were very polite. I was able to get a bento and a musubi for $13 and it was pretty good. I'll definitely be coming back in the future & I highly recommend.

I placed a take out order here, and placing it was quick. They didn't ask for card or anything like that. Name wasn't needed also. When I got in, parking was super easy to get. It's a small shared parking lot with Aloha Sushi being at the bottom under the stairs. Cute little place, with the entrance & register being right there. Just one table avail inside & a table right outside, so not a place for dine in. The price was a bit pricey. I paid $6 something for 2 spicy ahi rolls. They only take care for $7 & up. The lady didn't greet or smile, just asked what I order. Had to wait a few mins for my order, so maybe a total time of 10 mins from my call in. Anyway, got the food, & it looked good. It was kind of disappointing because the spicy ahi roll was super plain. Just the ahi & spice. No cucumbers or anything. I was surprised because the price of it was too much for what I received. Ahi you could tell wasn't like fresh, it was prob pre frozen & was diced into cubes. I probably wouldn't have stopped by here if work didn't have me close by for a training. Anyway, it's a 4 stars for me, as I wish the sushi roll was at least a little more pleasant lol.

Their food gave me FOOD POISONING. Specifically, the crunch don. Don't come here. I ate it at the store and I had a sore stomach moments later. Throughout the day the pain only got worse. I experienced diarrhea, fever, stomach pain, and chills.

Nice ratio of crab, cucumber and avocado! I could taste all 3 equally. Super fat roll filled me up!

I'm going to call it. Aloha sushi has the best handrolls out of all the fast food "grab and go" places. Way better than 7/11 (no doubt!), and Kozo sushi. Most other places' handrolls are skinnier than Aloha sushi, with less ingredients. I ate a California roll at Kozo the day before I ordered the same roll at Aloha so I really feel like I can give them a solid comparison. Kozo's sushi rice was colder, making it seem less fresh. The avocado was non-existent. You might as well order a crab roll there. The sushi roll was thin, and after eating 2 rolls from Kozo, I was still hungry. Aloha sushi's California roll comes correct! It was stuffed so full of crab, avocado and cucumber, the seaweed wrapper busted at the seam! I could really taste all of the ingredients together. The rice was still warm and delicious. The roll was prepared super fast and the lady at the counter was very nice. She even gave me 2 napkins (I guess she could tell I would burst my roll and get sushi all over myself). Location is convenient, on Nuuanu avenue in a quiet little building with plenty of parking. I also saw burgers on the menu!

Really love coming to this location because service is always fast and friendly. Parking is always available. Prices are reasonable. Quality and quantity are decent. Please see pics.

Love their maki rolls! Their maki rolls are made with a generous amount of ingredients and taste. I ordered a cali, egg, tuna, and shrimp tempura maki and they were all delicious. The shop is small but very clean. They also have some tables outside for customers. I had no problem with parking in their parking lot at night.

They have a pretty wide selection of different items to choose from. My favorite is the dynamite roll and the crunch don. The spicy ahi sauce is delicious.

the very tasty chicken and beef donburi!

A friend recommended we try this place for a late lunch since its kind of in our neighborhood, needless to say I was just a little hesitant with the reviews being either love it or loathe it. The owner was very nice as was her daughter who was doing homework. Of course they have all the essentials you would expect from a typical take-out sushi place like this with the exception of a number of Korean bowls and they serve burgers and fries lol. This has to be the only place that does this, and I will try it later. My friend and I shared a chicken and beef donburi and we each got our own order of the spicy nigiri (3 ct. per order). The chicken and beef don was really good no kidding and the portion was enough for two people and I can eat a lot. The chicken had a char and glaze to it and it was really soft, the beef was tender and flavorful and came with grilled onions. It was just chicken and beef over rice with a little furikaki but it had such great flavor, I was very impressed. The spicy ahi nigiri honestly reminded me of the spicy ahi nigiri at Sushi II in the Sam Sung Plaza. It was'nt the heavy mayonayze based creamy style of spicy ahi but rather a sharper spicier version that you find at more traditional sushi bars. The ahi tasted fresh and packed some heat that kind of snuck up on me. If their spicy ahi always tastes like this then this might just be my new favorite place. I took pics of what we ate and am certainly planning on coming back real soon.

Good selection + awesome cooking = ono food!!!

It was his dream to open his own authentic Japanese restaurant using his special omakase experience from Japan and one of the first authentic sushi restaurants in Honolulu. It was a concept of "bringing Japan's finest to Hawaii" with a desire to "build a bridge between the two cultures of Japan and Hawaii." In 2018, operations were taken over by Testsuya Matsuda. A 2nd location was opened in Kahala in Jan 2024 by Hiroshima Mazda, whose specialty is traditional Japanese sushi (or omakase). Yohei Sushi 's menu offerings include: * Teishoku (or set meal). Comes with miso soup, rice, Japanese pickles, cold soba noodles, seasonal side dish. Main entrees are sashimi, tempura, maguro, misoyaki butterfish, ahi steak, saba. Salmon, ahi belly, katsu, and more. * Sushi Bar. With miso soup. Menu offerings are deluxe & standard assorted sushi, maguro don, Chirashi sushi. * Noodles. Choice of udon or soba with various combinations, e.g., nabeyaki, tempura, tororo, tanuki, zaru, kitsune, tori, tukimi, kake, and ojiya udon. Also, combo meals of tendon/noodle, sushi/noodle; and donburi of unaju, oyako don and ten-ju. * Side order & ala carte. Includes sashimi, chawanmushi, ika, shinkomori, murokyu, soft shell crab, miuzuku, Hiyahakko, edamame, tempura. Ahi belly katsu, misoyaki butterfish, saba, seafood tempura, maguro temprta, ahi steak, salmon. We've had the following: * Tendon and Noodle. Deep fried tempura of shrimp and assorted veggies in a rice bowl with sauce & hot udon. Very filling and tasty! * Tempura Teishoku. This teishoku had 3 large pieces of fried tempura shrimp and assorted veggies, e.g., carrot, eggplant, green beans, pumpkin, that were light and non-oily. Our teishoku meals came with pickled veggies, cold soba, rice, and miso soup with lots of wakame and radish sprouts. Very flavorful! They also offered a complimentary birthday scoop of ice cream with a dollop of an as a topping, which was refreshing and paired well! * Maguro Tempura Teishoku. Hubby's choice of fried tempura tuna set, and he noted that there were 8 large tender pieces of maguro that was lightly fried and non-oily. Very delicious and filling! * Unagi nigiri. The unagi was so flaky, tender, and light and had the right amount of sauce. Loved it! The presentation of the meals was beautifully plated with real, authentic Japanese small dish bowls and plates. The food was of good quality and very flavorful! Customer service was excellent! Diners are greeted by staff upon entering and thanked when leaving. The old-time servers were very patient, attentive, welcoming, and gracious! Our food orders came out in a timely manner, and the servers, with smiles, frequently asked if everything was okay and if we needed anything else. Hours of operation are: lunch daily from 11a to 2p, dinner from 5p to 9p, closed Wed. Happy hour is from Thurs to Tues from 1:30p to 5p. Located in Kokea Center that looks like a run-down strip mall at Dillingham Blvd and Kokea St, the restaurant interior has a great ambiance as if you were dining in Japan, as it is comfortable and welcoming. It was amazing to see almost every table was taken by dining customers. Reservations are a must, as people are turned away. Good thing I called for lunch reservations at 12:15p on a weekday, which was tha last table available. And the restaurant was packed the entire time that we were there! Free parking in the private lot shared by other businesses, as well as metered street parking. Yohei Sushi has been successful over the past years in its presentation, flavors, taste, and customer service, and we hope to return to try different menu offerings!

I ended up getting the BBQ Chicken Teishoku meal which included a salad, miso soup, white rice, & tsukemono. My friend - Gary T. ended up getting a combination plate of BBQ Chicken & Shrimp Tempura. What can I say about da grub? Simply O.U.T.S.T.A.N.D.I.N.G!!! My BBQ Chicken came out on a hot sizzling platter, & underneath the BBQ Chicken there was grilled onions. Yum! The chicken skin was crispy, and the sauce was deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelicious! Nicely executed! My friend also enjoyed his meal & mention to me that he was also glad to try this place, as he's never been here before. Service here was on point, as the waitress was friendly & efficient. Parking here is a bit challenging, as there are only 4 parking stalls infront of the restaurant. If you're unlucky to get one of the premium parking stalls, street parking is your only other option. The decor at this restaurant is definitely old skool. If your dig old skool nostalgia like me, then ya gotta check out Yagura Restaurant!

This place is definitely a throwback. You can feel that vibe once you walk through the doors. Quickly got seated and served water and tea (which I really appreciated). Some places don't offer it or don't even have it. The menu is quite extensive. I settled on the Teishoku with Sashimi, salmon and teri beef. They brought out the miso soup (not the kind out of a tube) and the rice before the meal arrived. I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the salmon, most places that I go to it's pretty small. I could only eat half of it. The portions sizes for all the dishes were good. I actually had to take home some of the teri beef too. Kind of bummed that I hadn't been to this place 20 years ago. I guess like they say, better late than never. I will be back.

Sushi counter has 8 seats and there are some additional tables. Hiro is planning to do some pretty cool things with the space-- so fun! FOOD: Amazing. The first course included saba, which Hiro prepared exceptionally well. The other components of the first dish were tasty too. For the nigiri, our favorites were the chutoro and otoro (unsurprisingly). There was also salmon nigiri with pesto which was unique, but not our favorite. We noticed that Hiro adds additional flavoring components to good quality fish/seafood.. the flavors all complemented each other well, without overpowering the fish. SERVICE: Good. Hiro was chef, waiter, dishwasher, everything (he said he does this on certain nights when it's slower). He juggled all the duties well. The courses were presented at a nice pace and our waters were filled regularly. OVERALL: Wonderful experience. We appreciated Hiro's personalization and flair. It was also fun talking story with him! Plus, BYOB! He said he plans to keep the omakase area BYOB too. We definitely plan to return.

The space is decorated with interesting art that changes in the light. Portraits of Hiro adorn the walls. I love it. There's a huge tv that looks like a painting. The omakase journey was spectacular and the two things I really liked about it were: 1) the yuzu kosho pairings, 2) the black sesame tamago. Everything else was great but those two things really stuck with me. The entire course was peppered with flavor medleys that were new to me. Overall, I had a great time with a special someone and we'll definitely be back for more!

Glad we had a reservation (even though we went for an early lunch). The place hasn't changed, the decor is the same What was nice was that there were a lot of wait help so service, even when it was busy, was attentive. Food was plentiful. Previously I had ordered the teishoku tempura but next time I'll order the tempura and side of rice. My sister did this and she had such a large serving of various tempura. I think there was four shrimp tempura (the teishoku didn't have as much. Most of the time I've been here the parking was available. But because there are so many other restaurants and stores the parking lot was usually pretty full but perhaps because we were lucky or early there were many spaces. I keep telling myself I need to order bitter melon. But I never do. Maybe next time
