i was in the 82nd airborne division in NC , the store does what it can in terms of selection , a lot of the stuff is older/ vintage items , i wouldn't go here to find crye, ferro concepts or high speed shit, either way solid ass surplus store if you need some stuff, got a good selection of firearms and the folks here are friendly , i love these folks , the price of stuff is i would say fair , but being at fort bragg im a little spoiled because so many troops come and go the price for a canteen over there might be 3$ where here its 15$ read more

WOW.... This place is something else. TRY EBAY!!!!! I went in just to browse as I am into and collect military gear, clothing, equipment etc. Well, this was surprising, everything was SUPER overpriced and the guy working at the firearms counter scared me. First off, they are selling pilled, faded and ruined Velcro MASSIFF shirts for $80!!! Those things in good condition are worth like $40 from the right person. Their Gortex jackets shared a similar story and costed $250! Ridiculous.... Go to EBAY of Facebook Marketplace for clothing. Now the gun counter... This was awful, I don't know if the gentleman is new to firearms or just a goober, but this was terrible. I approached without taking a close look and asked if they had any AR-9's. The gentleman behind the counter said "No." I pointed out a Freedom Ordnance FX-9 and he replies "It's kind of an AR-9"... Anyhow, I asked to see it. He never cleared it and handed it to me with the fire selector on "FIRE". I quickly cleared the firearm and placed it on safe. I set in on the counter and googled the price of the gun. BRAND NEW it goes for $750. I asked the price and he told me it was new and worth $750 (mind you he had to search the price of the gun... Who knows where). I observed light rust on the metal parts and scratched all over the buffer tube. The stock looked like it has been stored in a random closet for the last 5 years. When I asked about the condition he stated, "It's just shelf wear." I have been to many gun stores and have never seen "Shelf Wear" in my entire life. Overall, I do not recommend, purchase your firearms from literally any other gun store and purchase gear and equipment from EBAY. It is sad that Andy and Bax and the other joint in Boring closed. I like this place and have stopped in a few times over the years. It's a typical surplus store with all kinds of Military clothing and gear piled up in a heap. The store is small, cluttered and cramped. The staff is great. Prices are good. It's on TV highway so handy to anyone living in the area. I'm a fan of being able to touch merchandise, versus the experience of online shopping. I'm a fan of choice. Aloha Surplus satisfies. Yes, some items are more expensive than their online competition, and some of the items about which I'm knowledgeable weren't authentic military surplus but made cheaply for less-than-discerning buyers, but there's enough worthwhile stuff from _all_ the wars to make a visit worthwhile. (There's also a bunch of silly wanna-be stuff that I'd be embarrassed to own but to each his or her own.) On my one visit the staff were pleasant, although not very clueful about things military. That's a bummer, but the old vets doing the quartermaster thing in private life is probably a thing of the past. If you're near, it's worth stopping by for a look. Called because I was looking for an OKC bayonet for my shotgun. They mentioned they had it so drove to go look at inventory. Was greeted by a nice guy who knew I had called. Only two in the display box, he mentioned they might have some other ones in the back. I wanted to take a look because since it is surplus inventory, I could potentially find a better quality bayonet. When he asked for help an old man started questioning why I wanted to look at other bayonets. Refusing to answer if he had any in the back, I mention I wasn't interested anymore. He began to harass me by continuing to ask why I wanted to look at other bayonets. He was astonished that shoppers wanted to look at other inventory, especially inventory in a surplus store. This place is great! A true homage to real military surplus as well as small local businesses. Alot of the negative reviews of this place I read all have one thing in common. They were all written by the type of people that read and write reviews of places online. Aloha is the type of place you go if you want authentic and quality military surplus to include rare and collectible gear and you don't mind having a real conversation with a military veteran who works there. The employees are highly knowledgeable but they aren't gonna bend over to kiss your butt just because you're a customer. They will watch you to make sure you're not stealing (place is in the ghetto of aloha for christ's sake) and they will tell you all about anything military, surplus, and are just generally knowledgeable. Some of the prices for the collectible gear is a bit high but you can find great deals on military shovels machete's gloves jackets, etc. and ammo here is a killer deal! read more

You can get used and new military equipment some outdoors equipment, and even aerosoft/paintball guns. the price wasn't to stellar but i guess i've seen worst in cali. What i do like is the staff is super friendly and helpful. They do know their stuff, and with the clutter of everything, they know where it is. That is coools! read more

You can not miss this bright yellow house..or the sign stating: $5.99 Machetes. Upon entering the shop, one notices two major things: 1 - the shop appears to be run by teenage boys (high school age) and 2 - the space is packed...almost to the point where it is not easy to walk through without fear of breaking something and angering the teenage shop keeps. The prices are a bit high for an army surplus shop but there is a good variety of used gear and "antique" goods. Overall, this shop is worth a look. Aloha Surplus is seriously overpriced. You can get a wide selection of surplus items here but you will find everything online for 60 to 80% below what they are selling items for. I wanted a sleeping bag cot and they wanted $90.00 for a rusty old army cot. The old boots look like they came from the Salvstion Army garage sale or the Goodwill Giveaway. I had been meaning to check this store out since I first saw it back in 2013. Finally did today. I think it's in a former church. It has a lot of stuff, a mix of vintage military clothes and some equipment (bags, tents, old mess kits), as well as new stuff. The used jackets and shirts are reasonably priced. The pea coats are way expensive but are authentic. You might have to dig a bit, but there's some cool stuff here. The staff were helpful, but not overly attentive - they just let us dig around to our heart's content. It's at least a nice way to spend a rainy day. I'm sure surplus stores near military bases have lots more stuff, but for a store nowhere near such, it's surprisingly well stocked. read more

This store drives me crazy. I always find cool stuff, and you cannot beat them for finding odd uniforms or other useful outdoor clothing. (Think wool.) But if I am looking for something specific, I'm out of luck even if it's something I remembered seeing there a few months ago. The secret to this store is, a great place to browse, dependable for outdoor clothing that is utilitarian even if questionable style-wise. (Why would I want a dutch officer's *anything*?) And their stuff seems to be on the pricey side for surplus, but to be fair all surplus shops seem to be having a hard time these days. I've only had one experience at this big yellow store, and I fell in love with it. Right when I walked in I was greeted, that's a HUGE plus for me. I was helped a ton, and respected in the store. The employees were very kind! I went there for boots for my military school towards the end of 2012's summer. The boots I bought through them didn't make it through the whole six month time period. I don't know if that was because of all the incentive training, or the quality of the boots. But, if I was going to buy another pair it would be at this store again. While there, I learned how to care for the boots and simple tips. With all the knowledge in the building I was told a lot about the military and things I should expect. I was also able to play with weapons, I need to go back soon and buy some. I went to Aloha Surplus for the first time today to try to find a coat for a comic con costume. I had no expectations and was a little overwhelming walking in. You could probably spend hours in the store without looking at everything. Several employees helped me look at jackets, assisted with sizing, and patiently explained the different products they had in stock. What an awful experience!! I have never before felt such discrimination being a female. I was warned ahead of time from one of my other female classmates that they were rude to females looking for "EMT" pants and told I would probably get crappy service. I did, and I will never go back! I was looking for equipment for my hunting trip, and some pants for my EMT program. I chose the wrong size of pants, washed them once to see if they would shrink, and they would not return them for the smaller size even though it was higher in price. I can get over that part.... It was my mistake for washing them. Females just be warned ahead of time. I guess I've gotten used to being treated as an equal human, and haven't felt that uncomfortable in my entire life. I would drive to Salem before choosing this location to purchase any of my other equipment I will need in the future. read more

Absolutely BEWARE!!! Please, do a little research and look around. If you purchase from Aloha Surplus you are being robbed! They are not expensive they are outrageous! They need to go out of business with the prices they are attempting to put off on unsuspecting or uneducated people. Example: Rite Edge Hatchet/Gut Hook New from the company $16.99 Aloha Surplus $44.99 This is just one quick example that i noticed. Not to mention the Rite Edge they are trying to sell doesn't even work properly. The gut hook knife doesn't sheet correctly and the blade is exposed over an inch out of the sheath. read more

They are one of the very few military surplus supply stores in the immediate area. This gives them a huge location advantage for people who don't want to drive all the way to Portland. They do have a decent garment selection, some of which is foreign military. I enjoy my wool coat. They have a strict no-return policy so make sure you REALLY want what you are buying before you go to the register. Their customer service is less than stellar. The staff isn't friendly or particularly knowledgeable. If there was a wider selection of surplus stores in the area I'd give them a lower rating. read more

Buyer Beware. The owner misrepresents military surplus rifles at gunshows and passes them off to unsuspecting buyers at premium prices. Maybe not a big deal on non firearm surplus items. He's selling military firearms that had been welded and decommissioned, then reactivated by who knows who. The welding process on these makes the receiver metal suspect and potentially dangerous. Have stopped in a couple of times just to check the place out.. Figured it was a bit over priced.. I am a bit of a outdoor survivalist and made the mistake of buying a shotgun scabbard without checking online for prices.. Found out later I paid double for what I would have paid at a gun show which is usually over priced.. That is ok since the scabbard is what I needed at the time and the quality is good.. However they have received the last penny they will ever receive from me so I hope the extra twenty was worth it.. read more
