Brandon was incredibly helpful in finding the right bat for my son. Even when we had an issue a week after purchasing, he went out of his way to make it right and offered thoughtful, knowledgeable advice. I really appreciated his patience as I'm still learning the ins and outs of baseball as a newer baseball mom. Thank you again! I understand the customer isn't always right, but if your own receipt shows differently, maybe don't die on that hill and just ask for help or guidance. Over the weekend, our family decided to go to DSG, we ended up spending $149~, it was $100 gift cards and the rest was cash. I didn't realize my toddler slipped in some random $17 socks, so I went in the next day to return them. I was met with Oscar, he was nice. I asked if I could get a cash refund since it was a small amount, he said no, due to it's based on whatever majority payment method was used. I leave it at that, I am disappointed because I really don't need $17 gc, I would like cash back. As I am walking back I am reading the back of the receipt, where it says refund will be made on initial form of payment, not majority used like Oscar advised. I spoke with my husband who was frustrated, told him what I read and what was said. My husband thought of work around, we can buy a more expensive item, use cash first for the majority and use the gift cards for the rest. So my husband goes in to try that. Oscar explains, no we can't do that, that it's the system gravitating towards a card. My husband points out what the receipt says, Oscar says it shows on the website, but does not bring it up. My husband returns to the car frustrated, because Oscar just lied and instead of asking for helped, insisted on dying on the hill the customer isn't always right. At this point, I'm going back into the store. I see Oscar talking among his colleagues talking about what just happened with my husband. Im still nice, but I request a supervisor. Supervisor explains Oscar is wrong it's not Majority it's just how the system works. I ask him, how does he want to correct this, and he just offers to cash it. It was such a simple fix. Oscar just needed guidance on how to navigate. I felt like this issue didn't need us as many times going into the store, If Oscar just asked for guidance in the beginning. It was frustrating experience overall. I'm glad we got the result we wanted, but just having to go through hoops, and it was a waste of time. Personally for me, this location left a poor taste, just because I am in customer service. I felt like the training could have been better. I appreciate the supervisor making it right. read more

I went in recently to buy a couple pairs of shorts. I noticed that there were no price tags on the merchandise or on the ranks on which they were hanging. I figured I'd be paying around $50, but it rang up at $92! Good golly, I ran for my life! Two pairs of shorts! Insane! A shame, since I have gotten nice items there. Buh-bye! read more

When making comments about how a special needs child "needs to get out of the store", employees should be sure they aren't assisting a family member of the special needs child. It is disgusting that an employee would make comments about a 5 year old child in the first place, but to make negative comments about a special needs child is a new low. You have no idea what a child or a parent is dealing with or what the situation is. I understand that it can be frustrating also. However when the parent is actively trying to resolve the situation and get the child out of the store, making fun of the child and making comments is awful. I have always bought most of my sporting good and school clothes for my kid's at Dick's, as well as purchased all three of my kids' sporting goods there. I will be finding another retailer. You are 100% free to voice your opinion, and I am 100% free to decide where I spend my money. Thank you Oscar! My candid advice to the cocky urchins working at this store: 1) A customer should never be made to feel like he is inconveniencing an employee. 2) A customer should never be made to feel as though his reasonable question was a dumb one. 3) A customer should never be left wondering if retail stores even train their employees on great customer service anymore. 4) After engaging with a customer, if you need to disengage to speak with a colleague or manager don't just freakin' walk away from the customer. Tell the customer what you are doing and that you'll be right back. Moron. All of these things happened to me today and I left the store feeling angry. No major complaints. I've made a few purchases at this store over the years and the product quality has been fine and the prices have generally been reasonable. Dropped by today to buy a pair of wrestling shoes which they didn't have in stock... not terribly unusual since they often don't have what I'm looking for. Found a pair of running shoes that will work for me on a wrestling mat. They seemed to be decent quality (Nike brand, which I don't care for due to their anti-America corporate attitudes)... on sale at a VERY attractive price. Minus one star for not having what I wanted in stock. There were a few employees in the store but all of them seemed to be engaged with stock management chores. No one was helping the few customers who were in the store and all had a very standoffish, "don't bother me, I'm busy" demeanor so minus one star for that. There were three guys manning the checkout area with nary a customer in sight so my checkout transaction went quickly. The employee was cheerful and efficient so no negatives there. As an occasional customer the above review pretty much sums up my average experience in this store over the past many years. IMHO, this branch could benefit greatly by bringing in a GM who actually knows how to run a retail business. read more

First time here, I agree with the other reviews... it's hard to find someone and even when I did, she said it wasn't her department and called someone on the little mic, that never came... Anyways, this is a nice, large store which seems to have a lot, yet what we came for was out of stock or possibly didn't carry them. I'm still unsure what the clerk relayed to me. Making our way to exit it was hard to ignore all the sales signs on Nike products etc. Their womens section had a good selection of discounted items. They have beautiful, quality brands here and everything seems nicely organized. We ended up with a few of these great deals and had a pleasant experience checking out. However, situations like this just make me want to order on amazon and not drive all over wasting my time only to buy things that weren't on my list. it's still an "Ok" store though. read more

Have to update on the store. Came in today to purchase a hybrid bike. I did my research prior to coming in so I had an idea on what to expect as far as brands and price. I tried different bicycles in the store and found that most were assembled half ass. Little to no air in the tired, loose handle bars and pedals. Anyhow I decided on a mode and the salesperson assisted me. He was a nice guy and attentive the whole time I was looking. When I asked if he assembled them he said no, he had only been working there 8 days. Still no issues since he said he would give it a once over as policy prior to me leaving. As he was checking it out, he couldn't get the chain to not run against the. Him guard. *red flag*. He summoned another worker over who also couldn't remedy it. So they called the store manager. So....in lieu of all of this I walked out. I read the reviews of bike son line and several listed poor assembly of bikes as a problem after they got their newly purchased bike home. I don't want to drop money on a new bike and have issues with it. I am heading to REI to see what they have... read more

I hope the manager takes time to read these reviews because it looks like I'm not alone in my experiences at this location. It's a clean and orderly store, with a ton of clothing selection especially which I like. But it's the employees here who make me want to take my business elsewhere. I've interacted with many over time and none of them were kind or friendly at all. Not sure if this is poor management, poor training, poor hiring, or all the above. I make regular stops trying to get ammo for mine and my son's guns. This is getting tougher and tougher to do. Thanks Obama. The bad guys are getting ammo, how about us good guys? I digress. This location has one big deficiency, no help. Try to find someone, I dare you. I almost ALWAYS have to hit the button on the gun counter to get 9MM ammo from behind the desk. The funny part is they just hand it to me, so I can go up front and pay. If you keep it behind the desk why hand it out? Breakdown. The check out is easy. The best thing about Dicks is being able to see the items your looking for, try them on if clothing, and then go online to order. Dicks prices are very high, to cover the glossy brick and mortar. Had a great experience at DSG tonight. Bought four soccer balls and three sets of cones for my three children to start playing soccer tomorrow. Pretty random review, but: Week before 4th of July. Decide we want pedalboats for guests coming to visit to play with before/after fireworks. We live on an island west of Seattle, so we do all the normal things - Walmart? Can't get here in time. - Amazon? Can't get here in time. - Cabelas? None in stock - Bass Pro Shops? None in stock Ok, that's not great. Fall back to the smaller stores. Dick's has them on sale on the website, but none in stock in Washington... but there are at least 2 in Hillsboro, OR. It's a 3.5 hour drive, but at least we can get them before the guests arrive. Only problem? 2 Pedal boats, 1 SUV, no trailer hitch, and 200+ miles each way. Renting a UHaul would be cost prohibitive. F it, let's see if one will fit in the SUV, with the other on top - no specs on the site showing dimensions, so it could go either way. Ordered online. Pickup the next morning. Drove down bright and early. Show up, they've got the boats waiting, but they're bigger than expected - there's no way they're fitting inside. Either we find a way to stack 2 boats on top of each other on top of the SUV, or I'm doing another 7 hour round trip the next day. Luckily for me, a couple employees (one male, one female, didn't catch names, wish I did) came out and helped me load those suckers on top of the car. It wasn't easy, and it was hot, and they didn't complain, they just helped heft those things up in the air, one on top of the other. Couldn't have done it myself, so it was great that they offered to help without me even having to ask. I don't imagine I'll be back to Hillsboro again, but I appreciated the extra effort. read more

I drove from the North Portland store to the Hillsboro store to pick up an item that was out of stock in North Portland. The item was put on hold in "The Lodge". It took me longer to find someone in the store to help me than it did to drive from North Portland. I honestly think it took 30 minutes from the time I walked in the door until I walked back out. I did no shopping. I simply wanted to pick up an item. They better hire more help or online retailers will put them put of business because based in the fact they are at least 30% more on most items than A. prominent online retailer. If a store is going to charge premium prices based on a retail experience they need to remember that store personnel are part of the retail experience. Oh how I miss GI Joes!!! read more

This location seems to be catered more towards the outdoorsman rather than the jock - the quantity of guns and fishing poles trumps the team sports items on the shelves. You're wasting your time visiting this location if you're remotely within range of the flagship Dick's Sporting Goods at Washington Square. read more

I end up stopping by this Dick's at least once every couple of months due to its convenient location (for me). I don't have any issues with the prices or selection, but I do have problems with how incredibly difficult they make it to purchase things. Even if you are buying something small and there is one person ahead of you in line, it feels like it takes at least ten minutes to get out of the store. I purchased my elliptical from here, and while I love the equipment, the ordeal of actually buying it was ridiculous. It probably took me fifteen minutes to decide which unit I wanted, and then forty five minutes to check out. Essentially, you will probably find what you need here, but you had better not be in a rush. read more

Since GI Joe's vaporized into oblivion, there's been one less place to find a large variety of sporting goods and clothing under one roof AND everyones been wondering who was going to move into all of those vacant spaces Joe's left behind. Not any more! Ok, this place is another chain store, but it does stock a fair amount of good quality and name brand products including long guns, accessories, clothing, and ammunition. I did buy some ammo on sale when they first opened. The sales are not bad and the regular prices on some of the Buck and Kershaw brand knives were good. Never can have too many sporting goods stores!!! read more

I am writing this review about my on line purchase, not so much the Hillsboro store. I ordered a 100$ rod and reel combo. It came today in a huge box. 12"x12" and 5 feet tall. There was nothing holding it in place so the two parts had been hitting each other in transit causing scratches on both the pole and reel. This must have been a display model because the oil cap on the reel was gone. On top of everything else they left the store alarm locking cable on there so I would have had to take it to the store anyways to get that removed. The only reason I am giving it the one star is that the Hillsboro store gave me a refund without too much drama and I walked to the back of the store and bought what I wanted. Totally disappointed in the overall experience and I probably won't be buying anything from them online again read more

Overall, I don't have problems finding staff to answer my questions. They aren't hovering over me. But they aren't actively avoiding me either. They know what the prices are on stuff - they say "Tell them "employee name" said it was 20% off". They also tell me to come back in a few weeks when sales will come on for various athletic items (softball gloves in my case). Overall, I like going to Dicks. Maybe not *the best* prices on things, but when you need to grab some tackle for fishing, yay. They have been out of bicycle items (inner tubes) when I wished thy weren't. I have been a long time loyal customer of Dick's and have shopped at over 10 different locations. The Hillsboro location is by far the most poorly run location. I recently came in to purchase a tent, 2 bikes and a GoPro camera, and could not get help from a single employee. After asking for assistance from the manager Brandon, I was brushed off and told someone would come to assist me. They never showed and Brandon (needs proper management training) was off gallivanting around with a fellow employee conversing about what he did over the weekend (unprofessional). I was completely offended by my experience and just about decided to end my shopping experience with Dick's until one employee (Heather) recognized my frustration. She was able to talk me into continuing my loyal shopping experience with Dick's, but I refuse to spend anymore money at this location. read more

I bought my bike around April 2019, due to where i live and i didn't yet have a bike rack for my car i was not able to really take it out for a good ride, i did ride a couple times up and down my drive way. I finally got a bike rack and took my bike on vacation to Calif. I took for a ride and noticed my breaks were squealing when i used them, i took it to a Dicks store in Mission Viejo Calif for adjustment, they had my bike for 2 weeks, for just a break adjustment, wow. My bike was only a couple weeks old, why did i need to get the breaks adjusted so soon, I got it back, it was great, took it down to the beach, had the best ride ever. Coming home through the cannons with lots of twist and turns somehow the bar that goes down over the bar in the middle of the bike jimmied up and my bike fell off, lucky i had the straps around the wheels so it didn't fall off completely but i did drag it before i notice it fell off. Dragging it damaged my breaks again. When i got home from vacation i took my bike to the Dicks store in Hillsboro. The clerk told me it would be about 3 wk, i said that was no problem, they called me 3 wks later to say that they got the part but i was smaller they the left break and did i want him to use it anyways, i told him i would really like both breaks the same size, he stated it would be another 3 wks, he stated that where they buy their parts its really hard to maneuver around the site, i suggested he ask someone for help. I called on Wed 10/9 and they put me on hold 3 times, finally a girl picks up, i was not happy at this point. She said that the part has not come in yet but she would check to see where its it. I told her i can't believe its takes 6 wks for a part, she explained that they work with a 3rd part company and they are having problems with them. I told her to find someone else to buy parts from, i told her i would be buy to pick it up and take it somewhere else. I picked it up today, they had taken breaks from another bike and put them on my. I rode it a little up my driveway, i noticed my back tire is flat, i also notice i have a small scratch on the bar in the middle. Just terrible. I dont come here unless i absolutely have to. It's just terrible. The service is plain obnoxious. The selection in cycling is just plain inadequate. It's expensive. If only 0 stars were an option. If you don't mind a terrible selection and even worse customer service, then this place is for you. We went to buy our daughter basketball shoes. They only had 8-10 pairs of shoes to choose from, with limited sizes in each kind. This is right when basketball season is starting up, so that just shows poor management to have very few shoes when they are in the highest demand. We were in the store for 20 minutes and never had a single employee talk to us. They weren't busy at all either, so there was no excuse. This isn't a one time thing either. We've been here several times and customer service is always well below average. We've encouraged many friends not to go here because of their poor selection and will continue to encourage everyone to take their business elsewhere, which based off of how little they value their customers, I don't think management would care if you went somewhere else. read more

Now that I've taken up fishing, I find the selection here a bit better then the sporting good store in Tanasbourne. You can pick up everything you need here for fishing, a pole, line, power bait, wadders, tackle box, fishing pliers for removing the hook and much more. A typical sporting goods store with a good selection of just about whatever you'll need. They're customer service however is lacking. The employees are all super friendly and more than willing to help, if you can find one. They are spread so thin throughout the store that getting something as simple as ammunition from behind the counter can take up to 15 minutes. I bought some a few days ago and ended up on the other side of the store pulling an employee out of his section to get me what I needed. This is the third time I've bought ammo here and it's been exactly the same all 3 times. But if you're willing to work for it, they do run some good sales on ammo. read more

I was here recently to purchase a swim cap for my dau. She wanted to get something from target like her friend but I thought being sports goods store they would have better quality and more variety to chose from a sports store. They only had a handful in neon, which my dau didn't care for.....disappointed. I could find a store associate really quick to check on the swim caps who said that is all they got. But also offered to order for a store pick up, which I had to reject as the swim lesson would start in few hrs. Unlike others experience with unfriendly or unavailable associates, my experience here has been different. I ve shopped here before and upon talking to a friendly associate, purchased a yoga mat. It was pretty decent quality for $30. Only I found out the same mat on amazon.com for almost $15 less. read more
