This place is on the outside of a strip mall. Plenty of parking. Unique opportunity to participate in a group event. Staff is really nice. We had plenty of time to practice the archery. They provided all the materials. I will return.

Great customer service, friendly staff and friendly environment. Excellent place to go and enjoy shooting compound or re-curve Bows. The pro desk is really knowledgeable about getting you fixed up the right size of bow or Archery equipment. Also they have Cosmic Archery, competition Archery and other fun activities. Highly Recommended.

Go to shop. Purchased a new Mathews and Hoyt from them, both set up with care, tuned well, Shop guys know their stuff and the range is plenty to tune anything in or bring the family. Highly recommend to any archer or hunter. Decent supply of accessories too!

I purchased a deal to come with a small group of friends. None of us had any experience but I thought it would be a fun activity to try. We checked in at the front counter (it's also a sporting goods store) and they took us next door promptly. Our instructor showed us what to do and then led us nextdoor to their indoor range. It wasn't too busy which is nice because you have to clear the range for safety. So the fewer the people the faster you can shoot. They had lots of bows to choose from and you can shoot arrows as long as you want. It was kind of cool watching people who clearly know what they're doing. Although we could stay all day, after a couple hours we were satisfied with our experience. It was a lot of fun and it's nice to try out activities like this in a safe, friendly environment. We all had a great time and would definitely do this again.

When you call to sell any used equipment they will tell you that you will need to talk with "Robert" in order to sell it. When you show up suddenly Robert is out of the shop and they are only authorized to spend so much on any equipment. This is a SCAM "Robert" doesn't exist and you will never be able to reach this phantom person. I called on Sunday 7/7 spoke with them about the recurve's that I was looking to sell, they stated that they were interested in them, I let them know that I would be driving up from Eugene, they said oh yes Robert would be there till 6:30pm on Sunday which would be best for them and that they were very interested in purchasing. When I arrived "Robert" had left just moments before 5pm but they would go ahead and take a look at the sets. They then proceeded to tell me that they didn't really want any high end recurve set up because they wouldn't be able to sell them. Earl resisted to even give me a price and then proceeded to tell me that well they'd give me $350 for both sets, just to clarify my local Ace Buyers pawn shop on Highway 99 had told me that they would give me $375 for both sets (they guy at the pawn shop couldn't even pronounce the word Hoyt) Archers Afield knew very well that the limited edition and Numbered Hoyt Recurve set up with Carbon Ace Limbs is worth. They intentionally were looking at a female thinking that they could simply get one over on her. Buyer And Seller Beware, clearly they get their stuff super cheap and mark it way up.

This place deserves more accolades due to it's fun and very friendly atmosphere. It's a great spot for anyone who has never done archery before or with lot of experience. You can also take classes here, owners are willing to help anytime with form adjustment. Very clam, non-rush and easy-going place for archery practice. You can ask the staff for recommendation on bows and arrows, especially bows come in different weight and they can be quite heavy for beginners so get some advise before hand and it will be easy on you. Make sure to wear wrist covers, finger gear to protect from scratches and redness as those bow strings will burn you a lot if you're not used to archery. Finding this place might just little hard as it's tucked away inside a small strip mall in Tigard, plenty of parking. Tip: First focus on short distance shooting rather than long distance as it will help a lot on form, focus and accuracy.

Thank you, Katniss! Thank you for making archery cool for girls AND boys. We started visiting Archers Afield about a year ago for time on the range. But my most recent (and best) experience was hosting a birthday party there. Talk about easy... It is hidden in the lower level of a strip mall just a few blocks off 217 and Highway 99. To adequately set your expectations, this is what I consider a no frills venue. As the mother of boys, they really aren't terribly interested in amenities, so it was perfect. But, as the host, you really need to bring everything with you to make it festive (food, drinks, decorations, cake, etc.). Although they do have some drinks and a freezer full of novelty ice cream treats. The party space is a private range with six targets and a long table and chairs. This was great for kids because the space was entirely ours (we didn't worry about bothering other customers on the main range with the noise) and the targets were much closer. Because it was a birthday party, the staff added small balloons to the standard shooting targets. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/s3OdkXVSdb9mTY4IGuXA5w?userid=j4BMT5Oyrt15-pwK3cRSZw#osKgztEcYopsoUptDLBlSA It was easy to reserve the space and no deposit was required. Overall, I found the prices to be very reasonable, especially in comparison with some of the other venues I've chosen in the past (Sky High, Lasertag, Bullwinkles, etc.). The party package included rental of the bows and arrows, some instruction and 2-hours of private range time. A few ways to make your party even better: 1) Customize targets. They were receptive to us bringing in our own (within reason, I'm sure). 2) Decorations. Space is very utilitarian, so you could really have some fun theming it out. 3) Food. Unlike the vast majority of other venues, you can bring in outside food. This was so refreshing. There is also a pizza place nearby, so they can include this in your party if you want them to take care of it for you. 4) Freezer. They do have a small freezer, so having an ice cream cake was no problem. We had a child with a nut allergy that I wasn't aware of ahead of time, so he got to choose one of their ice cream treats instead. Problem solved. I thought the instruction was good and she found a nice balance of surpervising our group of older kids and then letting us manage the process. For kids, you do need some parental/adult supervision depending on the age and ability of your guests. It wouldn't have been nearly as relaxing for me if this was a party of 8-year olds whose parents did the drop and run. We also visited Broken Arrow in Milwaukie as an alternate venue. A whole different beast. And while they may have excellent products, they really aren't set up to host parties (one range, long targets, more expensive). We are considering purchasing a bow for our son and the entry point for a compound bow was around $500 there. We are more interested in a used starter bow, and found better options at Archers Afield. They also have all the related materials including camo bikinis. Katniss would not approve.

The range. We were packed pretty tight together.

Ask the Community - Archers Afield

Am I able to practice my shooting at their store? I ask because I use a wheelchair, and though I love Washington Park archery range, it's difficult for me to take it across the field.

Yes. They have 5 archery ranges. Two are for sure wheelchair accessible. Washington Park also just recently became much more wheelchair accessible.

Clearly just not a great environment for him and who knows how long he had been there that day, he was very loud and chaotic and just being a kid. I kept hearing the staff member who was the kids caretaker harshly reprimanding him, borderline yelling. I get it's stressful to have to bring a child to work with you but it's not his fault. There were like no customers in the store and it was pretty quiet in there so hearing him being a crazy kid & then this woman loudly reprimanding him was very hard to ignore. I looked at bags for a really long time, and no one offered to help. Many of the hanging bags were missing identifying tags, so I was going back and forth trying to match the samples to the shelved bags for sale. Eventually I pick one, buy it and leave. I go home, open it up and it's just not what I had expected. It was huge, and very heavy. Today I brought it back for a return and had no problem. I went back to the sleeping bags to reassess what was available and that same woman who was yelling at the kid the day before, (who was not the employee to process my return) likely didn't realize I was the person who brought in the return and with a very nasty and annoyed tone she said something about how the sleeping bag policy she be like the air mattress policy - which is that they won't let you return it if you opened it. Her energy was terrible two days in a row, just totally drab and on edge. I maybe would have stuck around and kept looking at other sleeping bag options, probably would have bought a new one if someone stopped leaning on a counter talking shit about other employees to ask if I needed assistance, but instead I left. I didn't want to hear her drone on about how annoying everything is, customers/policies/coworkers alike (major projection) The pink haired woman needs training on customer service Big 5 has an opportunity to get some new regulars with the closing of next adventure - which had inherited many regulars from the outdoor store when that closed a few years back. It would be wise to have employees who are passionate about outdoor gear and the experiences customers have with the gear and in their stores, because that's what keeps people shopping. Reliable return policies are how you get customers to try things out and find what works for them. You retain those customers by showing some effort, curiosity and really helping them. That's how you sell products. Guess I'll be going to REI.

Well store opened at 9am my husband and I were literally second customers of the day!! First customer was greeted by Jacob "store manager". Stuff unorganized and on the floor boxes are opened. Trash everywhere I mean everywhere like they had no vacuum cleaner so they said F it. I got some items asked if I can try them on the girl that was working with the manager was also rude didn't ask if we need help I had to go up to both of them while they were chatting away. I asked to try on the items I found. As she opens the door to the fitting room I was literally like WTF!! Fitting room looked like musicians crashed a hotel see posted photos. Mirror was grimey as heck something broken on the ground a piece of wood idk. Litter on the floor. That whole store was just ewwwwww... as a former manager of retail stores I would never have a store like that or let my employees walk around not doing anything they had so much things they could've been doing. There store needs to get checked up on by DM or a RM. They also should be trained on customer service, attentiveness, knowing products. Will not be coming back to THIS location again!!!!
