I don't know where you got Nick from but he has incredible customer service skills. I'd recommend him to friends if he didn't already have a job. I wasn't planning on purchasing today. But because Nick was extremely knowledgeable and allowed me to have my own opinion (with help from his input). I made the purchase of a new archery system. Nick got two bows set up for me and I was able to shoot both of them on the spot. Thankfully they weren't overly busy. Looking forward to picking up my new bow and accessories. Archery World is beyond amazing - with the best caring owners and staff. We found them when searching for a great activity for the family. We started out with renting equipment and range time. From day one we were treated like family. Every staff member was caring and passionate and invested time in helping us. They create an environment of camaraderie with both the staff and their clientele. We enjoy both the Vancouver and Troutdale locations and have since purchased 4 bows and all accessories for the kids and adults. They were beyond amazing helping us to pick out the best purchase options balancing need, cost and quality. You won't find a better and honest place. I wanted to get my girlfriend a bow for christmas so we could enjoy shooting together. We went in and with Mackenzie's help, got her a bow that she likes, and set it up on the day we went to pick it up. I am a range member and really like the 24-7 access in case I have a night of insomnia. Everyone has been nice and helpful. read more

My DH and I took a one hour private lesson with Kyle, the lesson took place after the store is closed. Keep in mind that we have no knowledge of archery. Kyle was extremely patient about showing us the proper etiquette, form, technique, and helped us find good bows to get us started (don't worry: there's no up sell for equipment at all). They also have a range there: the lesson really helped with being more confident next time we go practice. As far as the range goes, they have a 20 yard area and 30 yard area. The shop selection seems to be good and the prices are comparable with the Internets. read more

For my first time ever shooting a bow and arrow, I had a blast! My arms were hurting and so were my shoulders at the end but it was well worth it. Shot for about an hour and an older gentleman helped us with technique and was extremely patient and kind. I will be back again! $12 for a rental of a bow, and $8 for use of the lane (all day use). $20 for a new hobby isn't too bad! read more

We've been coming here as a family for about 6 years I would guess. We started with the knock above classes for my husband and our girls, I would come as I could. Recently I finally got a compound bow, don't get me wrong I still love my recurve, but that compound is sweet. Megan took a bit to help me learn how to shoot my new compound and about 30 min after getting it all set up I had two bullseyes! Nothing feels better than hitting that target. This is such a great place to take your family and have some fun. Locally owned by great people who really care about their customers, this shop just can't be beat. Archery is a great sport for me because I have to use a wheelchair on and off. I can do archery from my chair or if it's a good day I'll stand. It doesn't take me long to adjust between one way or the other. So even if you're handicapped like me come on down. The great staff will help you out and answer any questions you have. read more

I'm defiantly a supporter of local business, and will go out of my way to patronage them, but I was pretty perturbed when I left this store today. I have been eyeballing this place for a bit, (I live really close) and when I drove by today with money in hand I felt like the stars aligned And I was going to get a bow. I shot tournaments and bow hunted for years but I have been out of the game for so long and things have changed so much that I went in looking for a bit of guidance. I walked in and was super impressed with the layout. The pro shop was well stocked so I figured I was gonna have a blast. I checked the bear compound bows and the recurves and had some questions. There was a lady there who was very nice but she was busy fitting other customers. I told her I was patent plus with all the bow candy I figured I could keep my self entertained. I ended up talking to the guy at the counter and he was pretty dismissive . I asked him questions regarding new improvements to bows. I got short answers. I told him that I primarily shoot with my fingers without a release aid. I was told that I could not do that on a compound because it derail the string. I asked if there where compound bows that I could. I was told they didn't have any. I was going to ask if I could order something but at that point I was basically doing this guys job for him and he walking away anyhow . I walked back to the bows and was going to wait for the lady to finish. The man at the counter was obviously finished with me. I began to examine the bows I was interested in . Went online to review specs and see what things have changed, then I realized in a world where I can literally look things up online and buy them with one click, and no indignant salesmen, why am I'm looking up information online in a store as highly regarded as this one. I'm giving this place 3 stars maybe because I wanted it to be good and I'm probably gonna patronage the range but ultimately the Bottom line is this: I went in excited and left pretty disappointed. read more

I have taken both of the Nock Above archery classes they offer and highly recommend them to anyone wanting to try archery. I purchased my first bow here and use the shooting range weekly. Megan and Joe the owners, as well as their staff, are extremely knowledgable and only carry products they test and believe in. What an amazing experience my wife and I had purchasing archery gear for the first time. We visited the Troutdale, OR store and met with Joe (owner), Nick, Henry and Kyle. After being measured for draw length, we mentioned our desires and the guys took it from there - from showing us potential equipment to cutting the arrows to fit and then shooting the bows to fine tune the sights. Couple things to be aware of: 1) they don't try to sell you anything so ask questions (e.g. "Do I need anything for bow maintenance?") and 2) plan to spend a few hours there, especially if they are busy. It doesn't get any better than this - high quality advice, service and gear for a fair price. read more

Love this place! My friends and family just started out with archery and these guys are super friendly. We haven't gotten any lessons or gone to their after store shooting activities because our work schedule is such a conflict, but I hear they're pretty great. They have a 20 and 30 yard range and it's cheap. I live out in Beaverton and prefer this place to archers afield! read more
