When I got home and checked, they didn't discount some of the end items which equated to around $15 that should have been discounted. Not sure if they are doing this on purpose, but my time and gas is worth more than it would take to go back and ask for that back. Just be aware and check your receipt before leaving.

I recently visited Tonquin Trading while on a vacation to the Oregon coast. My husband had left…read morehis hiking boots at home, and since our trip involved a lot of hiking...we were sort of screwed. To make matters worse? He wears a size 16. Not exactly the easiest size to find in a pinch. Tonquin didn't have size 16 either-- but the super, super helpful guy working there understood our dilemma, and gave us a recommendation of where we COULD find a size 16, in exactly the type/brand of shoe we were looking for. He saved us from driving around all day to every Famous Footwear trying to find something that might work. So. Although I didn't end up buying anything at Tonquin, I was really impressed (and grateful!) by their "can't-get-it-at-Macy's-get-it-at-Gimbels" attitude, which saved our vacation. If I go back (and I loved the area...I'm already planning my next trip), I'd totally patronize Tonquin with my outdoorsy needs!

The store is huge, has many departments - swim, camping, women's, men's and children's apparel, hiking, biking, hats and accessories, fitness items, winter coats, rain gear and more. But within some areas, there is hardly any merchandise. For example, the Swim section was minimal. There was a big sign and display, but turns out that was it. Literally just a handful of swimsuits, one or two rash guards, no goggles, fins or gear. Did I mention just a handful of swimsuits? Was highly disappointed but since I was there, decided to walk the aisles. The vast majority of the store is filled with clothing. Racks and racks of clothing. Like it's sister store and neighbor, Marshall's, they must get leftover clothing from other stores and sell at a discount. There are definitely good finds among the racks, but I wasn't shopping for clothing and didn't have the patience. Ended up buying a wide brimmed sun hat with SPF of 50 for just $16.99. There were only three customers at the checkout but it still seemed to take forever. Of course this area is filled with a plethora of spontaneous purchases - trail mix, gadgets of every kind, hiking books, flashlights, etc. For me, Sierra will never be a destination like Marshall's where I will go far out of my way to visit. But for those who want outdoorsy clothing, this could be your Marshall's.

Since I'm in Cedar Hills often for various appointments, it's easy to stop here when I need something. REI took over the previous Bed Bath & Beyond store. Amazing what they did with the footprint! There is plenty of room for the various departments - backpacking, camping, sleeping gear, camp kitchen, dog gear, sunglasses, women's, men's and kids clothing and shoes. The store is clean, well lit, and wide aisles So easy to navigate. Today I stopped in to get a new pair of Hokas and another pair of Oofos slides for the pool. The person working in the sandal department was so helpful and was able to locate the right size when I couldn't find one. There is tons of parking out front. Super convenient in every way.
