I'd driven past here probably a hundred times, and never noticed When the Shoe Fits. I needed a new pair of running shoes, so I stopped in to see if they had what I was looking for. The person who helped me was EXTREMELY knowledgeable about what I asked for, and offered to order them for me since they didn't have them in stock. She also offered to help me find something that may be suitable, but also said that if I've had great success with what I came in looking for, that it is generally a good idea to stick with it. I asked how long they'd been in business, and the employee said almost 19 years. That is very impressive. The store was roomy and clean, and featured a very large selection. When the Shoe Fits store has a professional on their staff who will help you with all your needs. David was truly an angel. He's gracious and compassionate but also explains everything in detail. The shoes are great but they carry brands that I can get anywhere. The service was TERRIBLE. With so many options to buy shoes online, or even other stores, I'd think a brick and morter store would try to have the very best service to make customers want to go back. Selection was very good. This store is driven by a bonus program or commission. The girl who was helping me went off and helped another customer and would not let another employee help me. She was more comfortable having me wait then getting me shoes to try. Shoes are very nuce but there are other stores With better customer service. read more

I have had fairly good luck and service for many years here. As of late the lady who works there has pressured me twice into buying shoes that were not quite my size saying a 1/2 size bigger or wider width would be better because my size wasn't available. I realized after the second time it's just about a sale not the customer. This last pair nearly rendered me crippled. I couldn't walk well for several days. I will be back but if I see she is working I will not purchase. Spending $150 on a pair of shoes that doesn't fit well is infuriating. I should have brought them back. read more

I purchased a pair of shoes from the Fishers Landing location here in Vancouver WA last weekend, the 18th of this month. I was told they would arrive at the store in one week. Today, I called to check on my order as I had not been called for pickup. I spoke with Matt who accidentally hung up on me. When I called back, I spoke with Ryan who informed me my shoes had never been ordered and now, they were out of stock. He said he was away on a business trip and that's why my shoes had never been ordered. He offered no apology. He did send an email with a refund amount, going to the credit card the shoes were purchased on. Because of the horrible service I received at this location, I will not be back. It is unfortunate as this store is close to my home and I looked forward to shopping there frequently. I wish that I had been treated as a valued customer. This place is great! I went there yesterday to find insoles for my running shoes and had great service. I expected the trip to be like buying a car -- miserable with me having to lie to get out of there without being pressured to buy an expensive shoe/insole (or both). But it was totally different than I what I expected! I told the sales lady what I wanted, she got it straight away, put new insoles in my shoes, had me walk around in them and that was it. Granted I had to go through several insoles to find the right fit for me, but the lady was very patient and super friendly at the same time. I measured my feet on the scale and she gave me pointers on how I'm walking/running and how I'm compensating my weight into my feet. It was all very informational and helpful. And she kept repeating that my feet aren't supposed to hurt - that if they were, apparently that insole wasn't the right fit and she'd do her best to make sure I was happy. It actually felt like I was a person in there, instead of just another number in line. AND I spent under $100, which is awesome, considering the fact that I was prepared to go higher (and I'm a total tight-wad!!) Needless to say, I'd recommend this place to any friend in need. read more

I'm from out of town, and boy do I wish this store was in Pierce County, WA! I have had multiple foot surgeries and have suffered for decades for lack of a good shoe or the resources to find some. Maggie helped me and she was so patient and took the time to measure and scan my feet and explain the results, then bring out shoes and orthotics that just blew me away! She also told me about the company's Workplace Wellness Program, and I am going to pitch that to my superiors for a partnership into the wellness program for my company's facilities in the local area. I bought 1 pair today, and already have my next pair picked out, and I will come back again even though I live over 2 hours away! read more

Went in because I've had awful foot pain and my foot only feels good if 1) I'm bare foot or 2) I have my Dansko shoes on. I needed more pain-free options! The lady that helped me was very knowledgable and explained to me WHY my foot is in pain and why Danskos feel so good on my poor foot. She was nice and patient and SO helpful. They are not "sales-y" and just trying to get your money. I had a great experience. I know I can buy these shoes other places and MAYBE save $5, but they were so helpful and wonderful, I plan to buy all my shoes here in the future and enjoy being pain-free (and stylish!) :) Support our local shoe store! read more

The short guy with the big attitude about his board certified membership on whatever - you don't know nearly as much as you would like other people to think you do no matter how loud you talk. Having a shoe sales person in a speciality shoe shop tell you that you are not experiencing the kind of inflammation you have been diagnosed with by an MD, Sports Medicine physician and a Podiatrist is the kind of manager material Comcast is looking for. NO stars. Will be returning to the Walking Company where they respect customers and treat them with attentiveness and a helpful and knowlegeable attitude -- and empathy. read more

When not working, I'm training for the next race or marathon. This has been the case for the past seven years of my life and I've tried many different shoes. I was in need of a high mileage trainer and happened to stop in today to see what they had to offer. Bill provided me the highest level of service that I've ever received when out shoe shopping. I'd just left a running store that allowed me to try on seven different pairs of shoes but offered no advice or assistance. Bill analyzed my situation, asked me detailed questions, and educated me on why I'm not getting the most out of my current footwear. He then proceeded to fit me with a Mizuno that was off the clearance rack. At that point, he could have sold me on any shoe in the store but determined that the sale Mizuno was my best option. I appreciate Bill's honesty and level of service. This store and their workers have gained my trust. I'll be back! read more

Good quality shoes, not competitively price. It's hard to think in the store simply because the sales woman's 'normal' volume is megaphone loud. She seems very nice but screaming to her customer, "THOSE LOOK GREAT ON YOU!" repeatedly gave each of us headaches. Was happy to leave the store. read more

Could not have found a more efficient, professional and empathic person to help fit my mother-in-law for her diabetic shoes - I was very impressed with David Vincent. He took the time to explain to mom-in-law exactly what he was doing at each step so she felt a part of the process rather than "having something done to her". He was very thorough with the examination of her feet and also knowledgeable about the programs she was on. Wonderful experience and so helpful to her! Went to get inserts to help my son combat knee and foot pain during his junior year varsity football season. They just grabbed some inserts off the wall and wanted him to "try these out". Had they paid more attention, looked at his shoes, put him on their machine or asked more questions they would have seen he walks on the outside of his feet unlike most that pronate. They gave him hard inserts that put even more pressure on the outside of his feet. First day of practice the inserts helped cause a stress fracture and my son is out for the season. They may be nice and have a 90 day return policy, but they can also do great HARM. I will never return. read more

This is the place to go to find the right pair of shoes for your feet and lifestyle. They do a proper fit, check your gait, and help you find the best type of shoe for your foot. I have a hard to find size but never have a problem finding it here. Excellent customer service. I once bought a pair of shoes I wasn't sure about (the look) and wore them around the house with different outfits and decided they were not for me. No questions asked full refund as the shoes were not worn outside. I believe with shoes you get what you pay for, so you might as well come here and get the right fit and type of shoe you will be paying good money for anyway. A lot of stores have great service the first year or so after they open, and 5 years after I first started shopping here, they still do. read more
