CRO and the staff (Luke, Albert, lady on the phone :)) were amazing. We rented 3 tubes and a tandem kayak for the 5 of us, along with the shuttle service. Pickup from Barton County Park, shuttle to McIver, float down 6 hours (the water moved slowly in some spots so it took us longer). CRO answered all my questions around booking, and accommodated a reschedule during the 4th of July weekend. Even on the day of, Luke patiently gave us instructions and options to pick the upper (bigger rapids) or lower (slightly calmer) starting point. Couple of tips - take the earlier 10 am shuttle slot because car parking at Barton for the pickup can get full quickly on popular days. It would be great if we had a paddle for the tubes because in some spots the water was very still. Also, take a phone to text and coordinate towards the end of the float. read more

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THEIR PCC CLASS (Flatwater Paddleboarding Tour) They changed the location to Milo McIver State Park. The only instructions in the email as to this new location was "lake launch inside Milo McIver State Park". No directions were provided. Thus it would be assumed the actual location would be easy to find. I gave myself a 10 minute buffer to park and find the group. Map directions guide you to south entrance road. Once you pay & drive down, you come to a fork in the road (pics below showing signs). How do I know which boat ramp; there are 2? Since the directions indicated lake launch, I chose the right for Estacada Lake. Cut to 30 minutes later; I have now driven BOTH forks and there is no sign of a group that would indicate Clackamas River Outfitters or a paddleboarding group. I am so frustrated over the wasted time and money. When you are being paid for a service, it is your job to provide clear instructions; not just for the class itself, but how to get there. The best choice would have been for them to send a google/apple map pin to the exact location. If for some reason, that wouldn't work, then you should provide step by step instructions on where the group is to meet (IE, after entering, make a right/left, etc). I would have loved to call someone, but phone service was really shoddy in the park. Don't waste your time or money. read more

All of the employees were so wonderful! Albert, Luke and Tanley were so helpful with our first experience tubing down the Clackamas. We rented two single person inner tubes that included life vests with our rental. We also suggest the shuttle service they just started. We were picked up in Barton Park and driven up to McIver Park. The tubes we rented were super industrial, in fact a local who drifted by us pointed out how nice our tubes were. Super affordable and great quality. I had so many questions and each one of the employees there offered us so many tips and I feel they went out of their way to make sure we had a successful and enjoyable time. I cannot thank them enough for providing us with all we needed for a great float down the river. Would highly recommend over and over. read more

Took a kayaking trip from Milo McIver upper boat launch to Barton. It was initially only myself and there are not many companies that will do single person trips, but CRO had no issue with it. Luckily there was a group of 4 that joined us at the last minute. Luke was a fantastic guide and it was a great time! We met a group of three people on the river that had rented CRO equipment and the service provided to them was excellent as well. When I talked to the owners of Clackamas River Outfitters about safety and renting a kayak to take our 5 year old child down the Clackamas River, I felt that the owners misinformed me and endangered my family. The portion of the river we kayaked was not suitable for families with young children or beginner level kayakers. We will NOT be renting from Clackamas River Outfitters again. read more

My girlfriend and I were visiting Portland from the UK and wanted to do something active and fun whilst we were here. I have to say that Luke and Tanley provided us with a brilliant experience. In terms of organisation, they were really flexible and communication was easy. Then when it came to the actual paddleboarding itself, they were fantastic. Luke was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable and knew exactly where to take us based on our (lack of) skills. Great shop for renting gear on the Clackamas, and more convenient than a downtown rental shop, because CRO's location in Estacada is right off the highway, and perfect to pick up and drop off gear after your float, whether it's on the Upper or Middle Clackamas. Also great place to buy gear, or do a guided trip with Tanley, or some SUP training with Luke. Great river people, great shop, support local. Respect. ;) read more

CRO saved the day when they LENT me a paddle because I forgot to bring my own. A friendly kayaker told me where they were (I didn't know they were so close!) and even towed me over on my SUP, and then CRO let be borrow a paddle for a while - since I didn't have a dime on me (my car was parked on the other side of the river). I found CRO while biking during one of those 100 degree days in June. Luke really saved our day by locking up our bikes and renting us SUPs! He was flexible on time and included all the gear we needed for an afternoon on the water. The location on N. Fork Lake is lovely. Head up-river to find steep, shaded moss-covered cliffs. read more
