Going for a wild ride!

Everything, we had a great time with our guide. Calvin, Sophia & the rest of the team were a 10!

I'm a beginner and I was with 5 kids on this trip. We took class level 3 with blue sky and it was honestly the best thing I did in Oregon over our four day stay. A fantastic experience with really wonderful views and a great guide. Dan took us down a five mile scenic path on the river and took interest in getting to know us. His ability to take care of us is unmatched and his confidence in rafting made us feel very at-ease. Gary also took amazing photos of us and put on a slideshow at the end. You will get wet on level 3! An incredible feeling. I'm going to bring more of my friends here very soon.

Excellent guides, excellent equipment and an excellent company highly recommended. All the guides are at a minimum CPR and first aid trained in case there is a need (what a comfort to know). The 3 men who came out on our trip showed expertise in their knowledge of the 11 mile river trail like the back of their hands. Our raft guide Spencer I was especially beyond impressed by his level of comfort, direction and knowledge regarding the wildlife and history of the forestry. He definitely is beyond a raft guide offering some educational facts during our full day adventure down the river. My family & I had the time of our lives and to top it all off, Steve cooked us a wonderful steak and chicken BBQ meal served with an array of sides. No boring sandwiches here. Everything was made with care and thought, asked us how we liked our steaks and even prepared a nice area of chairs under a shady canopy of trees. Sweet! We were a party of 14...5 in one raft, 6 in another with 3 other people in the 3rd. The experience couldn't have been more perfect. These guys definitely love what their doing and it showed. We felt relaxed, excited, engaged and a sense of comfort around them. They took us surfing, maneuvered us through rocks and more importantly reassured us that safety was the number one priority. Spencer's safety briefing kept my sons attentive because during the actual river run, they followed everything he detailed from the start. That to me is how you know a great leader is guiding your crew. My two sons are Boy Scouts and they missed their summer camp to make fun memories as a family. This rafting memory is one they will never forget and they can take their experience and knowledge from the wild and into their next scouting adventure. Thank you Blue Sky Rafting for giving this family a cherished moment to last forever. We look forward in sharing the photos we purchased that was captured by Steve as the previews we saw were just amazing! We definitely will be coming back and telling the rest of our families and friends to hook up with Blue Sky. Pete, you have a helluva crew there. You should be very proud

Adventure - check Rapids - check All you can eat BBQ lunch - check Awesome tour guide - check A full day of good times and laughs - check check check If you like the outdoors and adventure, don't miss out on this whitewater rafting experience if you're passing through Oregon. It was high on my list of things to do while on my roadtrip and I'm sure glad my online research lead us to Blue Sky Rafting. The designated meeting point was right off of Highway 224 along the Clackamas River, but many of the landmarks they mention are hard to see, so keep your eyes peeled for a large weigh station with a tiny hut (what they described as a "parking lot"). If you hit the main town of Estacada, you've gone too far (if you're coming from the South). We were driving back and forth searching for the meeting point and cell phone reception was a crap shoot, so it did take us a while to meet up with the rafting company. This little hiccup wasn't the best way to start our day, but the rest of our trip was smooth sailing, so don't be fooled by the first impression. The wind jacket and life jacket they provide keep you warm and dry, even on a cold, overcast day like the day we went. If you're really afraid of the cold, you can rent a wetsuit for $5, but honestly, you can't go whitewater rafting without expecting to get at least a little wet (that's half the fun!) I was expecting a huge group of people, but we were literally the only raft on the Clackamas River. Heather, our tour guide, was AWESOME!!! She's knowledgeable and HILARIOUS, and was definitely the highlight of our rafting trip. Although the water level was a bit low, we still hit some solid, adrenaline-pumping class III+ rapids. There was even a section of the river where Heather pulled over and we jumped off a huge cliff into the water. Awesome, gotta love it! The second highlight of the trip was the all you can eat BBQ lunch break half way through our journey. Boy, did we work up an appetite! We had steak, BBQ chicken, veggies and dip, chips and salsa, potato salad, macaroni salad, chips, cookies, and drinks - all the grub you need to replenish your energy and leave you in good spirits for the last half of the trip. They also take some great action photos of your group paddling for dear life and getting drenched by the rapids, so you'll have documentation you survived! Blue Sky Rafting has the whole package for a fun-filled day of rafting of people of all ages - awesome tour guide, all you can eat BBQ lunch, and great action photos for your scrapbook!

This is a review of the flat water float from Dabney State Recreational Area to Lewis and Clark…read moreState Recreation area on the Lower Sandy River. I know this is not a normal category, but I personally felt a review of this trip would have helped me this last summer. From what I hear the top two most popular flat water floats in the outskirts of Portland are the Lower Clackamas and Lower Sandy Rivers. Originally my friends and I tried to float the lower Clack, but the parking lots where full and stuck in a traffic jam. So after about an hour of driving all over and not finding parking we decided to check out the Lower Sandy River section. This float was just as crowded but the parking lot area was so much larger what we found a spot. Now the first tip I will give out is to go early on a weekend day or go on a weekday and you will have better luck. The second tip I will give you is to park at the downhill park first if you shuttle two vehicles. If you want to combine these two tips, make a plan to spend the day with your friends and leave the first car parked early while you go out and enjoy some activities before the float. Though it is worth noting that you can occasionally find shuttle services these days. I have not used this yet, but will next summer. Once we got setup we found plenty of friendly people, if you bring your own pump be prepared for people asking to borrow it. The section of this river is amazing to check out. The beaches have pretty white sand and the water was not very cold in August at least. The water was slow going for the most part but there was a couple of sections where you will want to maneuver quickly and a few places where there is debris. Be sure to keep an open eye out for strainers and foot entrapment opportunities. The river passes through some forests, neighborhoods and has a cool view of a little bamboo garden that gave it a nice little zen vibe. Towards the end there is a rocky area that has some rapids. I made the mistake of tying off onto some friends inner tubes and was shot in between some boulders and rapids. I got lucky, but you will want be be prepared for that as I was not! Overall this was an amazing float that is sure to have you stoked and relaxed at the same time. Be sure not to litter in this area so this activity doesnt get shut down. Our instructors were Rose and Margot; both were extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and patient! They even helped me when I fell into the water (yeah, I'm not embarrassed to admit it... I totally fell in the water, haha!). It was totally my fault but both were quick to help me and they did such a great job not making me feel bad about it. Helpful Tips: * If you're taking a class, know that the kayak, the paddle and the life vest are provided. * If you plan to bring your phone with you on the kayak, make sure to bring an airtight bag to keep your phone in it. We had one already but I saw that they sold them in their store, too! Oh, and it's worth mentioning... the company was very understanding even though we arrived five minutes late (our GPS turned us around and we got lost heading to the class). Of course, try your best to avoid being late, but it was great knowing they were understanding about it. It made us feel extremely comfortable! My wife and I are definitely coming back!

He did a great job correcting our strokes. It was clear he had the knowledge of the sport as well as the understanding to be able to offer corrective feedback. I have a service dog and they showed great flexibility in working with me and my dog in and out of the water. It was well worth the money. Overall, my experience with Alder Creek was phenomenal.
