I LOVE coming here! I first tried out this place a little more than a year ago, with aspirations of starting a new hobby. I then tried to fish for trout out in nature but due to my track record and queasiness of what to do after I catch, I just end up continuing to come here!! The staff has ALWAYS been extremely helpful for me when I have issues removing a hook, or any questions I may have. They even give advice and show you how to do XYZ. You can bring your own gear, or use theirs for free! No license required since it is a farm. You will pay based on inches of the fish, and they will gut it and cut it and you will be on your way to a delicious dinner!! read more

We visited this farm recently and unfortunately had a very negative experience. The staff we interacted with were unfriendly and spoke to us in a harsh and unprofessional manner. We were told that if the roots of the fish became tangled, they would not replace them, and we were advised to bring our own equipment in a way that felt unnecessarily aggressive. The interaction was uncomfortable, even for the children with us. Based on our experience, we would not recommend this place. "We've visited this fish farm many times, but this visit was extremely upsetting. The staff refused to give us the equipment we needed and spoke to us in a harsh, unprofessional way. When the owner came over, he was aggressive, told me not to speak, and asked our whole group to leave -- including our two kids (9 and 11) who were checking in with us, and even my daughter's Girl Scout group who had not spoken to him at all. He raised his voice at the children, leaving them very upset. Based on this experience, we cannot recommend this place. read more

This place has really fallen. About half of the ponds are not operational, and the fish seem rather sick. The new lady that runs the place is very rude. Last time I showed up, there was no one even running the place. Seems like the perfect place to have a young person working a summer job, but I guess that would be too much to ask for. Not what it used to be and not kid friendly. They want to charge for everything, bait and even $10 for use of a picnic table. The grounds have been cut down to a small area with the big field with nice grass now private property. The restrooms are filthy and overall run down. read more

This place is fantastic! I was hesitant to go here because I was under the impression it was for little kids. I was pleasantly surprised to find it was six different ponds in natural settings. almost any complaint I'd have would be either not their fault, or a necessary evil because people suck. There was an assisted living group there for a field trip and to make a long story short; they had the time of their lives and the employees were very patient. Good job representing your business! Family friendly | lots of fun guaranteed Our 6 yr old daughter has been into fishing since she was 2 yrs old. She started off with a Fisher Price fishing kit and then was given a real set of her own. We took her to places like Bishop, Leavenworth, Clear Lake and Lost Lake, and other camping spots to practice her casting, but yesterday was her first time catching REAL trout! This may be the highlight of the summer for her. Easy to navigate finding this trout farm. There are signs everywhere in what seems like a residential place. We were greeted by this friendly woman who gave us fishing rods, some worms, a bucket with some water, and a net. She told us that ponds 1 & 2 have smaller fish, ponds 3-5 have medium to big fish, and the pond further in the back has the biggest fish. They were restocking ponds 4 & 5 when we arrived on a Tuesday. This is an excellent place to take your kids and for everyone to learn how to fish. We were told by friends and family we were guaranteed to catch fish here, so we expected to easily get our first one within an hour of arriving, but we ended up spending a couple of hours here first before catching our first one. We learned a lot! Everyone was catching fish all around us, so we stepped up our luring game and bought a small jar of power bait. We even put a worm with the power bait and that's when we started catching fish. I did see some folks catch with just a worm on their hook, and there were some others with power bait. My kid was so excited to catch her first fish. It's exciting to feel the fish fight back when you reel them in. We caught 3 trout at pond 5. There are benches to sit on. Lots of trees for some shade. Two 13" and one 14" rainbow trout is what we walked away with. The man at the cleaning station was friendly and did everything for us. All we had to do is show up and have fun at this place. Two portable potties in the parking lot and flushing toilets near the cleaning station. In the women's restroom there is a smaller toilet for the kids next to an adult toilet. I have finally given up on this place. Went here a couple weeks ago, and while a man was helping us, a couple of teens came up and politely asked if they could buy a bag to put their snacks and such in. Instead of just being a decent human being, he talked down with such disrespect, that it was actually appalling. All for a little bag! And then continued to use foul language towards them even after they left visibly upset by it. So, I would recommend if you have any children at all, don't bring them here. We brought family that was visiting from out of state, to the farm and they had a blast! There was 8 kids between our two families and all the kids had a chance to reel in a trout. The staff and owner are very kind and helpful in getting us started, they even walked by a couple times and checked to make sure we were doing ok. The fish cleaning is an added bonus! Our grandsons (6 and 8) got adult fishing poles recently, and we wanted them to have a successful maiden voyage. Mission accomplished! The 6 year old caught a monster trout in pond 6. His brother caught two large fish in ponds 5 and 6. Side casts kept their tackle out of the trees, and slow rolls got the fish chasing the worms. They had a blast and the whole family enjoyed a delicious trout dinner. read more

We've been coming here for a few years now for our annual family fishing day. We celebrate my late brother's birthday by getting together and catching some fish, which he loved to do. They have a variety of ponds, throughout the property, to choose from. They vary in size and the size of fish in the ponds can vary in size too. There's a list of which ponds have smaller fish and which have the "lunkers". You'll have to pay for the fish according to their size so if you're looking for a less expensive outing stick with the small fish. We love the "lunkers" so we always head straight over that way. This trip we discovered the bigger ponds in the back of the property are closed because they're building an outdoor event/wedding venue. I'm sure it will be a great set up but we'll miss fishing in our favorite pond back there. They supply fishing poles with hooks, buckets, and even hooker removers for your use there. They're first come first serve for poles but there are several of them to go around. We always bring our own poles and bait but we borrow their buckets to carry the fish in. After you've caught your catch of the day you will head over to the cleaning station. They'll gut the fish for you, rinse them down, and pack them in bags with ice. This is also where you'll pay. Don't forget a cooler to store your fish in on the way home. We generally BBQ or smoke our catches. The meat is surprisingly good and flavorful. We really enjoy our fish feed for the night after spending an afternoon here. The whole property is wooded with grassy areas and picnic tables to be able to plan a whole afternoon here, relax, and spend some time with the family. We'll be back in a few months to celebrate the next birthday. Thanks for keeping this great place going. We absolutely love it! read more

This place is a nasty place to go. I used to enjoy it, but the staff whomever they may be just nasty the old nasty woman that hands out fishing poles even swore at our kids and was very nasty to me. 1 star for being an idiot we will never go back there ever. Rude was on the manure pile, today. I arrived with my family for a fishing outing, as it was much needed, we brought the daughters triplets and her grandson along with her friends' son. so, there were 4 adults and two 6 six-year-olds. we arrived at the pole center where they hand out fishing poles. we asked for 6 poles and the very nasty woman say's no you 4 need to take care of your kids. I thought what in the world I some strangers have telling us how to take care of our kids, so I was like still being quiet, but she refused to give me a bucket and 4 more fishing poles. I took the two poles, so the kids could fish for now. I than was confronted by the woman again and her swearing either at our lids or in front of them was the ultimate success, that lead to this scathing nasty deserved review. We were not the only ones to be bothered that day, a woman in the bathroom was walked on by most likely the daughter of the facility the trout farm, she too was nasty saying I guess I would not have walked in on you, if you locked the door. How about for the sake of being nice stand there for a few minutes then fill up the toilet paper role, rather than being nasty to somebody simply waiting their turn for the restroom. read more

Oh my gosh this place is amazing! It's super clean, beautiful Atmosphere and the owner is so nice. I wish he was my dad, he was just so sweet and caring. I didn't catch any fish but will be back. It was hard as parents don't teach their kids fishing etiquette. Give space, don't be screaming and acting crazy. I spent more time untangling my line with kids because they came up next to me and cast over my line. I get that it's a small place but when people are there well before you and your family just jumps in where they want to and starts messing up other people's time it's rude. Heard about this trout farm and we had to check it out its not too far from the city, roughly an hour. The kids loved it. Make sure you follow the signs to enter the site. Your gps will take you a slightly different direction. Came in on an early Friday morning. Place was clean, quiet and shaded. The staff was friendly and helpful and got the kids set up right away. What a cool place. You only pay for what you catch. Simple as that. No throw backs. Caught the tree branches a couple times but the kids had a great time reeling in the bites. There is a private property in site so you must look out for the signs on which pond is accessible. In total we caught 9 small and medium size and paid $26.50. That included cleaning and gutting the fish! And they packaged it with ice and gave us a recipe in how to cook it. This was a great place for first timers and I'd highly recommend checking them out. Lazy? Get it at the groceey store. We enjoyed the couple hours spent out here and baked our our meal that evening. Recommendations - get there early to beat crowds. Bring gloves if you don't want to get your hands dirty to put bait worms on. But hey that's part of fishing and getting dirty. Otherwise they have buckets to rinse your hands and restrooms on site. These people are so wonderful. They raise their trout from fry, and they're all so knowledgeable and friendly. I actually live right around the corner on the Sandy river, I bought my house early 2020. I'm ashamed to say I've never been able to catch a single fish in the river in my own backyard. Never fear, Rainbow Trout Farm to the rescue! Sometimes it takes longer than others, but I've never walked away disappointed. They raise delicious, healthy trout that want to put up a fight if you catch them (and you will catch them). I love pan frying them in cornmeal. well apparently you're n able to sit on the benches around the pond! thesdultsonof the owner wouldn't let mt daughter and I watch to see if others fishing were getting bites. they weren't! we were told we had to check in with his mom at the office and we were then escorted to a shack which had appeared unoccupied upon arrival. A friend recommended that I give this place a try with the kids for a guaranteed catch.. and I must admit, the catches are guaranteed. Well, so long as your pocketbook allows for it. As was said by some other reviewers, the owner was cranky, irritable and thorny. We walked up just as she was scolding some other children. To her defense, she has to deal with some uncouth characters throughout the day but.. people break the rules and they are trying to make a living too. It would have been more pleasant is she killed with kindness instead but oh well, she wasn't the reason we were there. That said, I'm going with 5 stars.. it's a cute little place and super exciting for kids.. and adults! Next time I think I may invite my friends for a time-based competition. read more

This is a beautiful place, but be warned: you will catch fish, and you will catch them FAST. Within 30 minutes at the big lugger pond, we caught $110 worth of fish. We had two kids with two poles, and one wasn't out long enough for the second poles cast before we got a bite on the first. I didn't experience any negativity from the owners, but when my daughter innocently said someone threw a fish back (she saw a dead one and assumed), it drew a terrified and angry look from a worker until we explained that we didn't know that for sure. read more
