But the real reason I'm writing this review is because I knew they were awesome with kids... but I also took lessons as I'm a first time skier. They are exceptional with adults as well! I went from putting on my first ski to now skiiing with confidence at the blue and some black diamond level! I have had 2 instructors when I took classes... first putting on skis with Tom and then once I was skiiing i had the opportunity to learn from the G.O.A.T. Russ! As an adult to learn a new skill and enjoy it is such an amazing experience. This school has excellent instructors whom know how to level with you, explain how to do something... all with a caring spirit. I keep wanting to do more lessons myself as each lesson I see serious gains! This school is the absolute BEST!

It has such a classic look, it is the hotel that was used for the external shots in the original "the shining" movie.. on the inside, it's also very nice, it has a kind of rustic "lodge" feel. The hotel sits right at the base of Mount Hood, with beautiful views of the mountain from the back patio of the hotel, and there are lots of outdoor recreation, possibilities, for both the summertime and the winter time. The hotel is open year-round. They have a gift shop, There are plenty of food and drink options, but they are definitely expensive. I get it. This place is up in the mountains, there is a lot of overhead in keeping the place up, and of course, they have a captive audience. The nearest food and drink away from the hotel is like 6 to 10 miles down the road. The menu in the main dining room room looked good, but I can't speak to the food as I didn't eat there. I hope it's better than the blue ox bar. I had a slice of pizza there, and I wasn't impressed (see separate review...) This really is a beautiful property.

Second time, not as busy got a nice table in front of the mountain and drinks came out right away. But our tiny order of one flatbread took over an hour. The server was super nice about it and gave us some free bread but the wait was kind of wild for what we ordered. The food itself is pretty good and the hot chocolate is even better! A little overpriced but that's what you get for the setting I guess!

Which you can do on sight, either outside or inside the office when you come in. Also if you drive here, you will need to print a parking pass for your car. The tubing itself was a lot of fun. You have people mover/ conveyor belt to get you from bottom of the hill to the top. You can also do single or tandem tubes. There is a lodge on top of the hill that has restrooms, food/drinks, and two fire places. Overall a great way to spend a few hours enjoying the snow. You can also do other snow activities and can rent equipment as needed

It was nearly impossible to practice in under 50 feet of slope. You just can't get anything going enough to practice. The only other option is to take the chair lift up and hope you don't need to test your health insurance out 3) after prepaying for a few days of skiing and realizing day one this wasn't the place for us they refused refunds for the following days we weren't going to use. That's just kinda crappy. Not saying they're rip offs. But as a customer I feel Ripped off. The rental guy was nice. The lady at window taking down the rental info was kind of cold and scary. I wouldn't recommend this place. Oh and NO BATHROOMS. Just gross portapotties. it would be nice to have a place to wash your hands wouldn't it?

Cooper Spur is a great place for families to learn to ski…read more First, lets start with the price. For $400, you can get your *entire family* a season pass that is good for lift tickets *and* rentals. If you can commit to going 4, 5, or 6 times, that is a killer deal. Pencil out your alternatives, and you will definitely not find any less expensive options. You can use some of the money you save to get some ski school or individual instruction, which is well worth it. Consider it an investment in your families' future entertainment for years to come. The lodge is cozy but unpretentious and comfortable enough. Free wifi is handy, so you can send messages to family members (even if you don't get cell service on the mountain, at least they'll get the message when they get back into wifi). Food is just fine for what it is. The ski lift and runs are nice for beginners. They have a good rope tow to get started with, and then the ski lift isn't too difficult. They have a handful of runs ranging from beginner to intermediate. Even though the runs aren't long, the ski lift doesn't get too busy. Parking can be a problem, and sometimes you need to ride a shuttle up from the lot down by the resort (about 1 mile away). Also the rental center can be very busy, and a line can form that can take 30-45+ minutes to get through. Neither are a huge deal, but all things considered it is a good idea to arrive as early as possible to get good parking and avoid the rush. If you do have to wait, just practice some patience -- you'll get on the mountain eventually. They also have a very small tube hill (I haven't done this, but it looks pretty measly, so I wouldn't make a special trip up just for this) and options for nordic (cross-country skiing / snow-shoeing). If you get the family season pass deal, for another $40 you can add-on nordic rentals and access, which seems like a good deal if you'd like to have some variety. One other nice option is that, coming from Portland, you can take HW 26 (through Government Camp) or US 35 (though Hood River). It is good to have options, as traffic on 26 can back up on popular ski days. Also, there are lots of great restaurants in Hood River that can be enjoyed after a full day of skiing.

After purchasing my pass online in January and driving from California up to their resort but something always going wrong (freak snowstorm and the resort shutting down and an insane line to get in at 8am), we made sure to plan our trip accordingly since it was the last time we would be able to do it as a result of moving to the east coast. Their website was down and I couldn't access my pass but I had the sale ID and email confirmation. When we got to the resort, a young lady wouldn't help us AT ALL. All she kept telling us was that we needed to buy new passes if we couldn't pull the other ones up. If YOUR website is down, why would we need to buy more passes?? She was uncooperative and said things like "this is why we don't recommend buying them online", there were absolutely no refunds and was not helpful one bit. We ended up buying more tickets for the day because we didn't want our 14 hour drive to go wasted. Cue Miles, who worked with me after I sent in an email regarding the situation (how we couldn't access our passes due to their own website being down but somehow being responsible for not being able to use them). He was BEYOND helpful and got me all sorted out within an hour of sending me an email saying he would help. Honestly they were going to lose my service (I usually go to Mt Hood Meadows) after what I experienced but he has made me do a 180 and heavily consider going her again. So thank you Miles!!! Their lifts are fast to the top and slow down immensely so it is easy for beginners to get off of need be. I did not use it immediately. When I did attempt to use it Timberline would not accept it. I had all receipts and information. I had everything any reasonable vendor would issue on a purchase. Timberline simply refused. WTF?? Then, recently, right after I turned 65, I bought a day pass not recalling I was now eligible for a senior pass- $44 difference. Timberline would not credit the difference between the adult day pass and the senior day pass. So the heck with Timberline. Just another greedy ski resort. And now that we're talking a review, let me just add that Timberline offers the flattest terrain in the West. .
