Excellent service! I got a medium Thai iced tea and a lemon poppyseed muffin. The tea is a little sweet, but I don't mind for this early in the morning. The muffin is good if not a little crumbly, but I think it would be a nice sweet treat or good late night snack to buy early in the day and look forward to after my classes. read more

Been attending CSUF for 4 years now and never tried this place. My goal is to finish classes and go home but my GF bought me coffee so I can stay on campus longer... it worked! The shop is a little hut located between the Humanities building and Gordon Hall. I liked the matcha green tea because the flavor wasn't overpowering and tasted more sugary. The Vanilla Latte was great and honestly a top latte that I've had. Bagel was burn't but still good. Recommend both drink! Tips: theres tables all around and line can be long, just depends if it's passing period or not! read more

I always see this on campus, so I decided to try it because the reviews were pretty decent for a campus cafe, but oh how I wished I didn't ! (Obviously, you cannot expect much from these type of stands, but the reviews were a little deceiving) Drinks: Matcha latte (hot) 0/5 Whoever said this was good, I want you to taste real matcha and come back here to revoke that statement. This drink is nowhere remotely close to the word good. It literally tasted like they melted 10 bars of white chocolate, decided it didn't taste sweet enough so they dump in an extra 5 grams of sugar. Then proceed to melt some kinda concoction in there that caused it to taste like plastic. Perhaps the matcha was the friend we made along the way! ADDITIONALLY, they surely implied the hot cause this thing was hottt. Service: 3.5/5 Not much you can say since it's a takeout spot, but they took long to prepare mine and there was only one person ahead of me and no one behind. read more

The service was good but my god the coffee I ordered was the worst coffee I ever had in my life. It tasted like watered down dirt. No flavor. And I ordered an iced drink and it was LUKE WARM. I visited Aloha Java for the first time this morning and had a pleasant experience. I've been working at CSUF for a couple years now and I still never got a chance to stop by until today! There was two people in line. One girl had a longer transaction but it was maybe because she had to get gift cards. My coworker and I ordered and I decided to get a hot small matcha green tea which came out to be $4.00. I thought the small is a little too small (LOL) but this drink and others were pretty reasonably priced. Our drinks were prepared rather quickly and you pick up in the back. My matcha green tea was just alright haha. It was rather sweet. I had ordered with light whipped cream but my drink didn't taste like quality fresh, matcha but more like a generic powder. It also tasted very vanilla, which I've grown to not enjoy as much. Overall the drink was okay, I think I'll definitely try to stick with the coffees next since they seem to have a great selection! Note: There is a 4% Customer Service Charge applied to all Credit Card transactions so my drink was $4 flat when I paid in cash. Overall, my experience for the drink was more of a 3-3.5ish star, rounded up to 4 for the nice staffers/customer service. As many have mentioned below, I recommend the chai bomb. I personally like it blended which is about $4.25. I love passing by this small box of a coffee shop because the aroma is so inviting. They're always playing good music as well. This is a good substitute from when all the other cofee shops (Starbucks) on campus are too crowded which from anytime before 6PM they all usually are. This is an outdoor establishment with the seating as the round tables nearby. You order by the cashier side of the box and pick up at the opposite end of the box with all the sugars, creamer, etc. I've never had any of the pastries but I've tried the red eye, black eye, and chai stuff. All of these were good! Last favorite thing is that the drinks are already fairly priced and they don't add tax into your total. As a college student, these little "discounts" matter. read more

Overall, their prices and quality blow Starbucks out of the water. Every time I go in the morning there's this kinda rude, emotionless girl working. ICED CHAI BOMB. NUFF SAID. It's essentially a chai tea latte with a shot of espresso. I think I found my new go to for coffee on campus! Service was definitely 5/5 for me. When I got in line before class I saw that there was about 6-7 people ahead of me and was a bit worried that it would take a while .. since it takes forever at the Starbucks in the library and in Mihaylo. Surprisingly, the line moved really fast! My entires transaction took less than a minute to complete. I got a medium chai bomb thinking that it would be the size of a Starbucks' grande ... nope. It was even bigger than a grande! I was pretty pleased with that. The drink itself wasn't overly sweet, and the cup wasn't filled with all ice. BONUS POINTS. If you bring your own reusable cup it's $1 on iced tea, hot coffee, and iced coffee! read more

That's funny... I don't recall ordering a cup of flaming hot dry FIRE. I came with low expectations, but boy, Aloha Java, you managed to float right beneath them. I can make better foam for a capp with a whisk on a stove. I ordered a small dry cappuccino with soy milk and it was burning hot, the foam looked like... dish wash suds.. but worse. I come here for the chai bomb, which is a chai tea with a shot of espresso. It is also amazing! I usually get it cold, but I can assume the hot version is just as good. For a small hut the service is decent. I'm pretty sure the pastries are from Costco or a warehouse store equivalent, but does that make them less delicious? Absolutely not, I would recommend the cranberry orange scone if they have it. Which is another thing about this place: they never have the same pastry options. What I'm trying to say is you should scope out the goods before getting any hopes up. So the Starbucks line is too long and it's too early for Carls Jr? This is probably your place. read more

The worst espresso on the planet. I am sorry to say that anyone that gave this place more than one star for their espresso drinks DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT. I have been a Barista for many many years and I am also from Seattle and we are coffee fanatics! I absolutely know what good coffee should taste like and what average coffee should taste like. This is WAY below average, into "taste like dirt" category. First off, let me just let you all in on a little secret they are keeping from you- a 16oz espresso drink only has ONE shot of espresso in it. That means you are paying for 15oz of milk! An espresso shot is only 1oz, so you do the math! This is completely out of the ordinary for ANY coffee shop. Standard is always 2 shots for a 16oz drink. Always. So you are being ripped off just FYI. The taste of their espresso is burt and grainy, like they have NO idea how to pull a shot and it also tastes like they use old espresso beans. You can tell by the way it tastes like dry dirt. The Baristas (I use this term loosely) clearly have NO idea what they are doing. The milk is watery and of poor quality (how hard is it to get decent milk??) and this place is totally overpriced for what you get. PLEASE just go to Starbucks! There are several locations all over campus, dont waste your time here. And that is saying A LOT because I HATE Starbucks. But at least you will get 2 shots of burnt espresso in your drink instead of one. read more

Located on the CSUF campus, Aloha Java is this little drive by cart type of coffee shop - similar to a mobile home . The shop itself has wheels . That being said they make some delicious chai ice blends. Very creamy , reminds me of the vanilla chai offered at gypsy den in Santa Ana The small is $3.75 for around a 16 oz. Totally worth it! Aloha Java is awesome if you want good coffee without paying so much for it. We have two Starbucks on campus, but this is definitely my go-to place. The hut can take care of your need for caffeine with ease - and a TON less sugar than Starbucks. I also love that tt is significantly less crowded than its competitors. Although there can occasionally be a long line, but the wait time is nothing in comparison to the two Starbucks on campus - which are CSUF's version of a Disneyland queue. In addition, the staff is always super nice, and they get the job done fast, Not to mention their drinks are really yummy, which also helps. I used to come to this place every Wednesday night last semester to get an iced chai. This semester I have a Monday morning class. I've noticed that one girl who is there at this time makes her drinks differently. I stopped getting the iced chai because it just tasted like milk with a bit of sweetness. Today I ordered a medium hot chocolate. When I picked it up it felt a little light. I got to class and opened it up and it's almost half empty. Mind you I haven't taken one sip of it. I'm very glad I have this place a try at school. I got tired of starbucks' quality of drinks and their ridiculously long wait time and wanted to try something different so I tried Aloha java's chat bomb and dawn, it's good. I'm a huge sicker for chat and their chat bomb which is essentially a dirty chat tastes oh so rich almost like hot chocolate. Their house coffee tasted burnt and bitter the one and only time I tried it kind of threw me off but it's okay. The workers are nice and are always at work. Drinks come out in under 2 min. Overall it's way better quality drinks and a lot less wait time. I will be a regular here. read more

I still refer to this place as MJ's and remember the confusion I felt the day I realized the name changed. I usually order the Orange Slider since I'm not a coffee drinker but their hot chocolate with soy is pretty good too. I like this location because it's pretty much the only place on campus where you'll see faculty, staff, and students interacting without being all awkward. The staff will let you pay next time if you're a buck or so short, but be sure to go back and actually pay. Not feeling the music? They've been known to play CDs that patrons bring, especially world music. Can be hard to find a seat on nicer days but when you do find a seat it's a great location to do some people watching :) read more

The new alternative is the full service Starbucks in the business building. This place will constantly be referred to as "MJ'S" by Faculty. Interesting Coffee Combinations, such as a combo of coffee and hot chocolate, a "Mocha java." They also have an array of Italian Soda, but I could never figure that one out. Sometimes I would order a carmel macchiato hot, and it would be quite bitter at the top, and then the last few sips were like crack with sugar, please stir in my caramel. Please. It makes the whole thing better. Be sure you have some sort of parking permit, since a CSUF ticket is vicious. read more

Came here because I needed a quick coffee. I ordered the coffee strait up in a large. Didn't get a Café mocha or anything elaborate since it was my first time. I wasn't happy with the quality of the basic coffee. It tasted like "cowboy coffee" and hardly had any flavor. For $3 it was not worth it. I think I'll stick to Starbucks. read more
