I discovered Almost V'gan while in town for work and walking the streets of downtown Cincy. They had a sign out front that mentioned they do vegan food and as a vegetarian of seventeen years, it was like they were calling my name. I also noticed that they are Black-owned,which is awesome to see. At the time, they had only been open for, I wanna say, two-ish weeks so my colleague and I decided to give it a go. The staff was eager to greet us and we got a seat right away. The space itself is magnificent. The bright bursts of color caught my attention first. It's definitely a vibrant space, modern, trendy, photogenic, fun, and creative. You got to check out the bathrooms - so cool! From what I gathered, the owner helped design it himself. The service is what stood out next. Everyone was so friendly, the chef and owner came to our table to check in, which is always a nice touch. As for food, I was only in for a quick bite so I went with the kale caesar salad and a side of truffle fries. I love me a good kale caesar and that definitely hit the spot. The only con with the food was that the serving sizes were rather small for the price. I believe this spot turns into a nightlife experience in the evenings. They have a full bar and even a DJ booth. I would no doubt visit again in the evening. It's great for a date night or evening with friends. Overall, I hope they succeed and recommend you give them a try, even if you don't like vegan food. read more

Such a cute bar right in the middle of court street. The decor and ambiance are beautiful and the servers were great. I stopped in for a birthday celebration and had such a great evening. We entered AV Lounge as a part #UCHC24 celebrations. This was my first time coming here and I had my in town guests trying it out with me. Since it was more of an after hours menu we didn't get to partake in their full menu, but were able to have a drink or two...or three! With it being a popular weekend having Blink 2024 going on at the same time, the staff maintained their service and were very attentive to our table throughout the night. Even as people left and new people came just within our group, they maintained the room and made sure we all had what we needed. The Pros: -really cute space -good location -love that there is a specific vegan restaurant downtown Cincinnati -friendly service & wait staff -nice food presentation -sweet potato fries were delicious The Cons: -they don't make the veggie the star of the show, it's overrun in sauce :( the jackfruit tacos felt like I was eating a bbq sauce taco, the cauliflower wings were good, but also drenched in a syrupy lemon sauce -the prices are not worth the quality of food -they include tip into your bill & an additional service charge, when we asked what the service charge was for they said it was a tip for the bar staff - so 2 tips & then they requested another tip on top of that! I would typically give this 2 stars, but I'm giving 3 because I know they just opened and probably need some time to get their feet under them & make adjustments. I visited Almost V'gan Lounge not long after it opened. The ambiance alone is worth a stop in. It's beautiful-- even in the bathrooms. I love the concept, that folks who eat vegan should have a beautiful lounge to eat in, when this isn't the type of restaurant you normally find much vegan food. You can get most dishes in vegan or non-vegan. I got the caesar salad and absolutely loved it. We also tried the smoked watermelon salad. I liked the concept, but the artificial smoke flavor was a little strong. The fries were pretty good. I would definitely come back to try more of the menu! A vegan place with all the options and a ton of flavor has entered the chat. Located downtown on court street . They have vegan options fish and beef. Everything was cooked to order and brought out by the chef. This place is a breath of fresh, since downtown had more of the same. I left full, and wanting to return. The watermelon salad with grilled slamon has to be my favorite. This will be added to my 2024 favorites. Grab friends and welcome them to downtown Cincy. I literally feel like I just got scammed. I cannot stress this enough. We were charged $80 for $15 worth of food and was not even good, + a glass of cheap draft wine. I could whip up a better version of each of the items we purchased with my eyes closed and I don't even cook. 1. Draft wine. It tasted like a passable red wine. Not sure what it costs 2. Cauliflower wings with Buffalo sauce. It was 5 small cauliflower chunks in what tasted like just Frank's red hot. The breading was nothing special, classic basic bar style deep fry. $16 robbery. 3. Tofu sliders, poorly prepared tofu straight out of the box. Absolutely no flavor. Drizzled some basic bbq sauce and put some salad. !!!!!$20!!!! SICKENING ROBBERY. 4. Mushroom steak. Absolutely no salt. Gross grilled onions with no flavor. $18 They have a few cocktails which seems like their main thing I guess? If that's the case STOP SERVING FOOD PLEASE, or at least make the price reflect the total lack of effort that goes into preparing it. Oh and I forgot to mention... plastic silverware Paid $80 and we don't even feel like we ate anything. Possibly the worst experience I've ever had. Other reviews HAVE to be friends or something. This place is really pretty and a great use of space. My husband and I came in a Saturday night. Not busy at all. Maybe 13 people total. However we didn't receive water for atleast 15 minutes. With service being this slow I am a bit perplexed as to why customer service wasn't the focal point. Now that we have discussed the bad....., the food is tasty, and the drinks were good. I can't with good conscience recommend this restaurant to anyone vegan or vegetarian because they may be served something with meat in it. I went to this restaurant last week because I was in town for a show and friends wanted to try it. Unfortunately, I will not be coming back. Our bill was over $100 for 4 drinks, a salad and a flat bread. It did not feel like we got the quality of food we paid for and that was disappointing because I love the premise of a restaurant with an equal amount of vegan and non vegan options. The service was poor as I was almost served chicken and I've been vegan for almost 7 years. I noticed that it didn't look like tofu and I then returned to the menu and realized what I ordered didn't even have tofu and I was served a meal with chicken! To make matters worse, the server told me it was tofu! I was certain it was chicken (and it was). I then had to prove to my server that it wasn't what I ordered. The server was nice but too inexperienced. Nothing was comped despite our food being served 15-20 minutes later than the other members of our party. Also, we were one of two parties in the entire restaurant. The only reason why this is a two star review is that the cocktails were good. read more

First time at the lounge, which is tucked away on Court Street next to the Kroger. The decor is creative and inviting and the music was calming, a nice change for a lounge. The Smoked Jackfruit Tacos and World Famous Cauliflower Wings were both excellent bites with layered flavors with the tacos nicely spiced. I had the Spice & Ice cocktail and thoroughly enjoyed the drink from the spiced salt side of the glass.
