The cafe is cute, clean and minimalist. Had a vanilla latte and nice touch with an earl Grey cookie Before it opened, on the storefront they has advertised "Chocolate Angel Food Cake". Was excited to try but guess it didn't work out for them and they don't make it at all :(

Love the location and decor of this new cafe. We did not get any of the pastries, but the coffee was just okay. The girls working were super nice and helpful though.

Stopped by during the soft opening with my wife and we have been here two days in a row. I think that's a pretty good indication of the taste of the pastries. The team was nice and gave us great details about each of the pastries as it can be hard to pick when they all look good. We've tried the Earl Grey, the Passionfruit Cheesecake and the Tiramisu so far. Our favorites are the passionfruit cheesecake and the tiramisu. The Passionfruit Cheesecake has like a slightly sweet mousse/cream on top that kind of reminds you of a Baked Alaska. The cheesecake itself is a bit different from something like a New York cheesecake but it's delicious. The Tiramisu is another winner, the layers are done well and it isn't too sweet. The flavors blend together very well as it glides along the tongue. It is also one of the only desserts that you have to eat at the store. So if you want that one, plan accordingly. The shop has a more open layout bakery towards the front with seating and then a separate break for the cafe a little deeper in. The lighting is a tad bit darker and the seats are more secluded, so it comes off as a bit more focused/intimate. Great find on Main Street!

Cute and charming French style bakery and cafe with great service and a clean and minimalist aesthetic right on Burlingame Ave. Service was great and my Nikki's blossom was light and delicious -- delicate peach entremet wrapped in a thin layer of white chocolate with peach filling. They're currently in their soft opening phase and expect to have more on their menu in August. I'll definitely be back then!

After our lunch, we walked in the street festival. My daughter saw the Almondette for dessert. We walked in. Looked like it was a brand new shop. Just opened in mid June. The dining room has the warmth and relaxed atmosphere. She ordered our ice cold cafe latte and espresso. We had the Earl Grey and Nikki's Blossom cakes. Not too sweet which was nice. My daughter, who has the sweet tooth, finished the cakes. The ice coffee was delicious. The staff were friendly and rendered wonderful service. When we were leaving, I checked the counter pastries and they all looked beautiful so I took the video. I heard the owner was asking how was the cake if it was good. And we said yes. We shall return if we are in the neighborhood next time.

Wonderful service and beautiful interior. Ample seating inside and outside. I ordered a cortado. Very dark espresso and delicious. The hazelnut dessert was so delicious and smooth. The chocolate was super well balanced with the hazelnut. Loved the crunchy texture with the dessert. Can't wait to be back to try more of their desserts

Welcome to the neighborhood, Almondette! Do we need another high end bakery, selling unique, homemade bespoke pastries? Frankly, the answer is no, but I got the best chocolate chip cookie of my life at Almondette today and new businesses offering beautiful and delicious basics as well as novel things are always going to be successful! iCustomer service is spectacular. I was offered a glass of water in a substantial glass, rather than a paper cup. Kinks are anticipated, particularly for a newer place, but staff have been exceedingly well trained. A delicious vanilla cookie was offered as a sample of their pastry items. It was a great place to sit with my book, listening as the staff, described the different offerings and explained that it would be another month before full breakfast, bread loaves and savory offerings would be available. No question was too small or too complicated. Answers were concise, informative, yet with detail that conveyed expertise. The descriptions of each pastry was clearly communicated and expertly shared. I ran into several friends while I was enjoying my cookie. There are plenty of European pastry shops in the tiny town of Burlingame. This is one to watch. it is pristine, aesthetically pleasing and the chocolate chip cookie is excellent! Four stars only because there are sooo many bakeries in Burlingame right now, and the sample size of a chocolate chip cookie and a vanilla wafer is paltry. I will update!

It's cute pasty shop, I work on Burlingame Ave so it was convenient to walk there. I ordered the monkey and the tomato mozzarella. I got my items to go and I was a little disappointed because the items were cold, so I'm not sure if you sit down and dine if they will warm it up for you, but they didn't ask me. So I saved mine to air fry at home.

beautiful spot across from the apple store, loved the interior as it felt very clean and inviting, i sat on the patio to enjoy the weather which was clean as well. cashiers were all welcoming and polite, and offering table service is a nice touch. also really liked that they offered nondairy options for their coffee. i had the basque cheesecake, which was delicious, pretty light as well considering the size of the slice! will definitely be returning in the future

I watched their reactions when taking the first sip, it was a lot of head nodding and thumbs upping to their friends so I felt like I had to go in and try for myself. Went in and ordered an earl gray matcha and my partner ordered a passion mango tea w boba. The matcha & the passion fruit was so good! The boba was chewy and sweet. I would definitely recommend coming and trying! I really wanted to try their strawberry matcha but I'm always so skeptical (I have trust issues w bad strawb matchas) but the earl gray was good, so maybe I'll try next visit. The interior was nice, menu was straight forward on the wall and on the check out table -- only thing is the description of the drinks weren't shown on the menus until you're on the self check out kiosk. I was curious about the sunny side up matcha thinking it was made with real egg yolk (which I thought kinda weird?) but the kiosk said that it was mango. You didn't really talk to staff at all & the drinks came out pretty fast! Would come back again.

The second time, I ordered a matcha einspanner, and he got the hojicha einspanner again. Maybe I'm just not too familiar with how to drink einspanners, but the cream pretty much sat on top of the drink. At first, I was mostly just drinking the matcha, which was fine because it was flavorful and seemed to be good quality. Once I got toward the end of the drink, that's when I started tasting the cream. The cream was a little too thick for my liking and left a film-like texture in my mouth, which I didn't love. Since I enjoyed the overall flavor of the drink, I'll give it a 4! The ambiance is cute, and the service was easy. You just order from a kiosk, and they call your name once your drink is ready. The first time I went was on a weekend, and the line was out the door. This time, I went on a weekday, and it was pretty empty. If you're looking for a sweet, caffeinated drink as a pick-me-up, I'd recommend trying it at least once.

The room is quietly elegant, its Middle Eastern influences expressed through considered décor rather than theatrical excess. There is an appealing sense of decorum here; a place designed to encourage lingering rather than turnover. The coffee is similarly assured. Turkish coffee possesses the requisite depth and bitterness, while the rose-cardamom-honey latte introduces floral sweetness and spice with admirable restraint. The pastries and sweets--particularly the baklava and kunafeh--provide a luxurious counterpoint without descending entirely into confectionery excess. At roughly $10-$20 per person, Sama occupies a sensible price point for an experience that feels considerably more considered than the average neighborhood coffee shop. Sama is, ultimately, a café with a point of view and that is increasingly rare. The service was designed to provide you with a feeling that you're like a beloved family member. I recently had some pastries and bread from Backhaus delivered to me via 4 hour express air mail…read more Also known as my wife flying some back for me on a recent business trip to Burlingame. I can't really say anything about the atmosphere or service since I didn't physically visit this store. What I can say, though, is that Backhaus serves some stellar baked goods from everything I was able to try. Kouign Amann ($6) - This pastry has a nice tighter brioche-like crumb, clearly constructed without trying to be a croissant like so many other bakeries. There's an excellent thin sugar glaze melted on the bottom. It almost shatters like glass and is not too sweet. Sugar soaks into a pocket on the interior, creating a sweet, soft, almost pudding-like texture. (5/5) Almond Croissant ($7.75) - Really open lamination, airy and chewy. Cut in half and slathered with a dark brown colored almond frangipane. It's by far the darkest rendition I've seen and seems to have higher moisture content than most, so it soaks into the croissant, creating a soggy texture. It's also not strongly almond in flavor for some reason. The sliced almond on top powers the pastry far more than the filling. The croissant is good but definitely not my favorite. (4/5) Croissant Loaf ($22) - At first I thought this croissant loaf was really expensive, but I think it's well worth the price. Firstly, it's quite long. I didn't measure it, but I'd guess it's baked in one of the larger pullman loaf pans, probably at least 16 inches. The interior, while not having as large honeycomb air pockets as a normal croissant, still flake apart easily into layers. The loaf is compressed a bit from being baked in the pan, rather than having the freedom to openly rise. It's deliciously buttery inside, while the exterior is a dark golden brown that flakes apart. Unfortunately they bag the loaf up, so the exterior flakiness softens due to the moisture trapped in the plastic. It's still an excellent croissant loaf and it works wonderfully in sandwiches, as French Toast, and eaten just by itself. (5/5) I wish Backhaus had been open back when I lived in the Bay. I will definitely visit in person next time I fly down.

We chose the blueberry oatmeal scone, which was delicious, tasted almost like a cookie. Also got the raspberry coffee cake which was not my favorite as the raspberry was pretty strong and overshadowed the coffee cake. Finally got the breakfast sandwich which was my favorite item. To drink we all got cardamom lattes, hot. For some reason the drinks came out extremely hot, like I couldn't even pick up my mug without burning my fingers. After it cooled down for 10 minutes, it was really good but perhaps the baristas need to adjust their milk frothing temperature? The space is really cool, they have an upstairs section and if you sit by the window you get a nice view of the outside. They do not have outlets, so it's not designed to sit at all day and study.
