I had a great experience here. Everyone was very nice. Dr. Kirk was very kind and informative. I liked that I could fill out the new patient forms online as well. My only gripe is I had originally reached out via email to make an appointment and never heard back, then I had left a message about a week later and still did not receive a call back. Dr. Kirk is the first and only Optometrist I have visited in my adult life. I literally hadn't had my eyes checked since I was in school; in fact the last time I had my vision checked may have been when they came to our elementary school to do a check on every student. Anyways, I wasn't having any vision problems, but I thought it would be a good idea to get a check up so I Googled the nearest optometrist and found myself at Almond Blossom Optometry a few days later. My first impression when I walked in was great. I had been extremely busy at work so I arrived a few minutes late for my appointment and I was on a business call as I walked through the front door. The woman at the front desk waited patiently for me to finish my call and greeted me with a warm welcome when I got off the phone. This was unexpected because I had been rather rude, showing up late and talking on the phone. I know I would not have greeted myself with a smile! Anyways I quickly filled out some new patient forms and was off to see the doctor in a matter of minutes. Meeting Dr. Kirk was refreshing. He shook my hand firmly and even apologized for his weak grip because he had been chopping wood the previous day. A doctor chopping wood??? I live in the Bay Area and I'll bet you can count on one hand the number of doctors there who have even held an ax. So we were off to a great start. He ran me through a number of vision tests including one with a little flashing light and a trigger that you push with your left or right hand depending on which eye sees the pin hole flash of light. That was my favorite exam because it almost felt like I was playing a video game. The entire time he was performing the exam Dr. Kirk and I were engaged in conversation. He took an active interest in my work, we talked about where we grew up, and he told me the story about how he and his family ended up in Ripon. I was amazed at how much I had in common with a man who had a half-dozen degrees and certificates hanging on his office wall. The exam ended with Dr. Kirk announcing that I had perfect vision. I asked when I should schedule another check up and he said he would see me again in about 10 years. That was probably the best part of the entire experience. I tend to be a little jaded when it comes to the medical industry, but this man didn't see me as a pay day. His professional opinion was that my vision was great and unless I was experiencing a problem he didn't need to waste his time and my money telling me that I had good vision every single year. My experience at Almond Blossom Optometry was so great, that I can almost guarantee that I will be returning to Dr. Kirk. Hopefully I won't need to see him again for 10 years, but rest assured if I do experience a problem, Dr. Kirk is someone I can trust to help me out. read more

We have known dr. Kirk (sr.) for years. Not only is he one of the nicest men we know, but he's always provided top notch service. There's been many times he's gone in office after hours to help out my husband when he's had some eye problems come up out of nowhere. I myself see dr. Kirk's son and he was very thorough with my eye exam and answered all the questions I had. Both dr.'s get us in on time and don't keep us waiting forever. The reception staff are super sweet as well. I try and do business locally (in Ripon) whenever I can. I just truly believe that is the right thing to do. My hubby got a pair of new glasses from the VA in the mail yesterday. Of course they needed to be adjusted to his head and face. I told him to take them down to Almond Blossom Optometry in downtown Ripon and tell them he was a Vet and had just gotten his new glasses in the mail and could they please adjust them for him. I was in the process of trying to find a new eye doctor to go to and I was going to call them and make an appointment. Off he went. Ten minutes later he was pulling back in to the driveway. He came in and said the gal at the front desk told him they couldn't help him. WHAT?? They couldn't adjust your glasses? Nope, he said. He said the lady at the desk told him to heat up the ear pieces under hot water and adjust them himself. I said come on, let's go to LensCrafter's on Sisk. We drove to Modesto, went in, the young lady asked us to take a seat and were helped immediately. Hubby told the gal what he needed. She took his glasses adjusted them and had him put them on. They were perfect. No charge, didn't ask if he had purchased them there, nothing! In and out within 10 minutes max. That's customer service folks. I have been a patient of Dr. Kirk's since 1994. I once tried a national chain, just to get prescription sunglasses and would not do that again. I recommend Dr. Kirk anytime anyone asks about an eye doctor. read more
