An amazing office--best optometric care I have ever seen. It helps that this is a very friendly office and everyone seems to be so wiling to be of assistance. It helps even more when I feel like Dr. Krieger is the best optometrist I have ever had in my 68 years. Got my exam done here almost 2 years ago Called to get a copy od my rx and clearly stated if it wasnt signed i was okay with that i just needded an rx to find a place with a lab Instead of emailing me an unsigned copy of my rx rhey emailed me and called me and left a vm that the modesto office could make me some glasses same day No rx I went to the modesto office and they kept trying to upcharge me to a hi index lens when i made it clear their sister office in riverbank said they had a polycarbonate lens in stock They refused ti make my glasses in a polycarbonate lens and left without my business Wich us fine I know now not to go there for any business The doctors are fine but the sales side is shady. 10 out of 10 do not recommend read more

From start to finish it took 11 WEEKS to get my contacts from this place. That's not a joke. I went here because I had moved, so I need a new optometrist and this place was only 5min from my house. Cool. Easy. I thought.... Dr.'s were nice, had to see a different one almost each time I went back, but what ever. Nice office too. Went in, got my eyes checked told them all my eye history, prescriptions Etc. Ordered a six month supply of contacts and a a pair of glasses. I have a special right eye, so they wanted to have me try that special contact in my right eye for a week, when it came in, just to be sure if it fit correctly, before they ordered the 6 month supply for that eye. Nothing new for me. Been there done that. Office lady said, "it can take up to 3 weeks, but they are usually fast, it might only be 2". Sure, no problem! 3 weeks, still no contact, but I did get my glasses though. Thank God because I need to see. On week 8 my special contact finally came in but I still had to wait a week so they could make sure it fit good and order a six month supply. So, FINALLY on week 9, they got my six month supply ordered. They had me wait 8 weeks for one contact, ONE. It had better not take that long for my monthly supply!!! It didn't. Got my 6month supply today, week 11! Only took 2weeks to get those suckers. Yay! Seriously though, I will never return to this place and I do not recommended it. They have another office in Modesto, won't be going there either. I've been in glasses/contacts for over 20yrs and I have NEVER had to wait this long in my life for eye wear. They offered me no discount and even charged me still for a follow up apt, saying my insurence didnt cover the extra exam. As the patient/customer, I dont care what their excuse is, not that they gave me any, but from what I can tell they got some back office paper work/communication shit they need to seriously work on. So, time for me to find a new optometrist again. read more

Ridiculous garage sale decor in this eyeglass shop -- an 1890s framed magazine page of women in those bustle skirts trying on hats. Oh, and a huge caldron like urn packed with crooked sticks ---like witches brooms? The big woman who examined me was not skilled in working with human beings I thought. A tech set me in front of a machine expected me to crouch down to reach it instead of adjusting it up to my height. The OD has a double last name that she signs with either of 2 last names. When she would not release a copy of my records to me I tried to look up her license at the CA Medical Board but all the combinations only bring up one person with a cosmetology license. The referral to a real MD was a mess because they forgot to send my records to the next place where they had no idea why I was there and wanted to diagnose me all over again instead of picking up with Dr. 2 names left off. What a waste. My eye problem was above her pay grade and the referral was botched, so I had to find a real doctor on my own. *That's why I needed my records*. When I finally obtained them (they made it a big hassle) she'd added all sorts of derogatory comments after the fact--like a month after. My favorite is a phone call that supposedly happened on Christmas eve where I hung up in a temper tantrum; but in fact it never happened because I cannot be reached by phone! I photoshoped all the records to both clean them up to my standards and expurgate all her nasty remarks about me added after the botched referral, etc. There were so many it's hilarious. It's actually incredible how many places she insulted me without regard for veracity. I pasted them all together into a document just of her vindictive slurs and used bother her signatures (2-different names) at the end. Its classic how some people, you know, give em enough rope...? I suppose if you're brain dead and need eye glass you could go to this place if you don't have a Costco membership. Or you live within a 2 minute walking distance and don't own a car and need new glasses. Have to admit I'm spoiled by the quality of service I'm used to from before I moved to this area from Silicon Valley. I'm going to have to drive back to the Bay Area for high quality medicine and service--stay in a hotel, etc. This cowboy and ranch area is not the center of medical technology. So I've been with Stanton Optical for the last 10 plus years. I was referred here and figured I'd give it a shot. To begin with, the front desk was very fast at getting my paperwork done since I was a first time patient. I was helped by Kareny and Jessica which are opticians in the office. they both were very friendly and very professional and genuinely interested in making sure I felt comfortable there. Asking the best questions to help me find what contacts would work for me. Coming from Stanton Optical I felt like I was just another patient to them and didn't feel the interest in assisting me as much as this great office has. From beginning to end both Opticians and Dr Krieger were the definition of how a patient should be treated. From the beginning of my tests to the finalization of my correct contacts prescription both Opticians and the Dr were not content until I had what was right for me. Staton Optical failed to tell me I had astigmatism. Within minutes Dr Krieger let me know I had astigmatism and needed different prescription. I was honestly shocked to feel cared for, felt welcome to make sure I was completely happy with my experience. Needless to say I will continue to bring my business to Riverbank Optometric and will refer anyone who is looking for a great experience for either contacts or glasses. read more

I went there to Riverbank Optometric Vision Center, and was very disappointed with their service!! My first vist was terrible! I started getting a headache while I was there because the doctor would shine that light in my eyes for long periods at a time. I would take short breaks to give my eyes a break and asked if I can have some water to take some Advil from the headache it was causing. The assistant said they didn't have any cups or bottled water to give to me so I had to cup my hands under the sink to drink water to take Advil. I was there for three hours for a normal eye exam because I just wanted color contacts. When I got home I had the worst headache that turned into a migraine which I rarely get and it lasted all night into the next day, my eyes hurt to touch! I went back in two weeks, because she prescribed me these contacts that made my eyes worse, she said I was nearsighted when in fact I am not nearsighted but I am farsighted. I have no problem seeing things from a distance it's up close that I cannot see that good. I have been told in the past eight years since I've needed reading glasses that I am farsighted and that I only need glasses for reading. The assistant put colored contacts in my eyes when the doctor came in and saw that I had colored contacts in my eyes, I can tell that the doctor was upset. The doctor then took the assistant out of the room to talk to her, the assistant came back in the room and took the color contacts out and said that she needs to give me prescriptions without the color. So she sent me home with the trial perscription. I couldn't see good close and I couldn't see good far. My vision up close was worse and my vision far was worse! I couldn't wear them, they were giving me bad headaches! I went into the doctor the second time to tell them it wasn't working for me. The doctor wanted to dilate my eyes before she can give me a perscription. It didn't make much sense when she had just given me a prescription for 2 weeks to try. I just wanted color contacts. I told her I didn't want to go through the whole thing of having my eyes dilated and her shining that light in their continually to cause me another migraine, she then stated that she couldn't give me a prescription if I wouldn't allow her to dilate my eyes, so I went ahead and let her dilate my eyes and told her not to shine that light in there for so long. I have never been told that they would have to dilate my eyes to give me a prescription for my contacts or reading glasses! The doctor was so rude when i said that I didn't want to go through all that again and they ware demeaning to me making me feel like I did not know what I was talking about! They made me feel like it was all in my imagination that I was having this horrible headache from her messing with my eyes! The assistant was rude to me after that also! I should have walked out right then and there! In fact I should have never even went back for my second appointment! I just did not want to go through this whole other process again just for colored contacts! I go from just wanting color contacts to going through this whole Fiasco! From all the other eye doctors I've ever been to this office is by far the worst! I believe that she did the up most to make sure she could bill my insurance to get money into that doctor's office! She did everything she could to get me a prescription that cost me lots of money to order through their doctor's office. So I decided to go to another doctor, it was so different! I didn't need what Riverbank doctor's office said that I needed. I got what I wanted from this new doctors office and I was out within an hour. I got the color contacts and they said that the reading glasses I have were good. The new Dr. Said that my eyes were in good condition and I just needed reading glasses and that I was farsighted not nearsighted and they were confused to what Riverbank eye doctor was trying to do. When I went into this new doctor's office they said that Riverbank eye doctor's office had a hold on my insurance and before they could do anything I needed to call that old doctor's office and tell them to take the hold off of my insurance that they had on it. I believe the reason why they had a hold on my insurance was just in case I was to go somewhere else and order my glasses or contacts that I wouldn't be able to get them covered by my insurance. This doctor's office here in Riverbank is a farce and a rip off! They will do what they need to do to get money out of you! I only went to the riverbank Pharmacy because it was close to where I live since I have out in this area. I will travel to a reliable doctors office before I ever walk into that Optometric doctor's office again! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! read more

My family and I have been going here for a few years now. It's a converted house to office, which I kinda like. My most recent experience is the reason I'm writing this. I scheduled an appt and wrote it in my appt book. Apparently I wrote it for March 20, and they made it for Feb. 20. On Feb 20, I get a call saying that I am a no show and owe them $25. Their phone number is unavailable when they call your cel to confirm, so I never answered their calls, and I didn't get their message. I explained that it was a mistake, not sure if it was theirs or mine, but if they charged me the $25, there was no need to reschedule, as I could take my business and my family's elsewhere. They were not happy about it, but waived the fee and rescheduled me. I arrived for my rescheduled appt and the tech took me right back. She was quiet and shy, no problem, just not too much of a people person. I get annoyed at having to sit at one chair for a test, get up and go to another chair for another test, then a third chair for another test. Not that I'm not physically able, but isn't there a better way?? Then get up and go to the actual exam room (another chair) and wait a few minutes for the dr. Thankfully, Dr. Krieger was super friendly and nice! I liked how she explained what she was doing and what to expect. She really made the difference! Then I head to the glasses shop (my favorite part) and shy and quiet technician is back, but she gets called back to another patient, and a sweet and fun lady from behind the counter comes to assist me (Lori). She was so happy and helpful and told me how cute I looked in anything i tried on (sales skills!), but I was so pleased when I left. Can't wait til my glasses come in!! So it looks like I'll continue to take my business here, at least for now. read more

I'm so lucky I found this place. They squeezed me in when I told them I was losing my insurance. Despite being a "squeeze in" I received top notch quality care. Never felt rushed. Everyone is amazing and extremely pleasant. A very nice combination of professionalism with a personal touch, they even toss in a little humor as well. The house converted to office is absolutely charming and very welcoming. During my exam I watch others come and go, all with huge smiles. Dr. Tong discovered I had been mis diagnosed given a prescription of "mono vision" that was not right for me. The mis diagnosis had been overlooked by not one, but three prior eye exams. For the first time in 2 years I could see better immidiately. The mono vision was the primary culprit of my discomfort. There wasn't any high pressure upselling, as a matter of fact they made sure to find frames that were completely covered by my insurance with no out of pocket expense for me. Side note. They went above and beyond to charge my cell phone when the battery went low. Now that's service. read more

I came in looking for a new eye dr and I thought I would give it a try. I'm 25 years old and since I was younger I haven't had the best vision, I've had contacts and glasses always. Well after seeing the eye dr here she told my my eyes were basically very bad and the age of a 65 yr old strange never have I ever heard that from previous eye doctors I've seen. So she was saying I needed therapy to strengthen my eyes and I needed special contacts. Well the price was ridiculous considering all my previous years of wearing contacts I was shocked. So anyways I tried the contacts out and they just gave me more migraines. Anyways I wanted to try to just get normal contacts which I've always had and the assistant I talked to made it seem like it was my fault and that I'm the issue here for the special contacts she kept trying to give me and didn't think I needed to change my contacts. I ended up going to another dr and talked to my previous eye dr who is in Roseville and both were surprised with the results the dr at riverbank gave me and both reassured me my eyes were not that bad (no therapy needed and not as old as a 65yr old lol) and gave me the regular contacts I needed and no more headaches. I think they need to be more serious about what they say exactly and what they prescribe for someone's vision because who knows if I kept using the ones she prescribed It could have made my eyes worse where I needed to rely only on those contacts. Doctor Tong is very soft spoken informative and friendly . When I was done and was looking for frames Lori was sooo much fun and honest about the look and made looking for glasses a fun experience !
