I have been a patient of Dr. Boyd for a couple of years and have always found her to be professional and thorough in the examination. Since I have a family history of macular degeneration she has been helpful in giving me information that will hopefully help me avoid suffering from it. But the day she became my granddaughter's doctor I felt we had been blessed. My granddaughter was born with a cataract and had surgery at 7 weeks. She has worn a contact lens since she was 8 weeks. We took her to Kaiser in Roseville every three weeks for two years. But then my son's insurance changed and we had to find a new doctor for her. Needless to say this caused a lot of stress since saving our granddaughters eyesight is a priority in our family. I suggested to my son and daughter-in-law that they take her to Dr. Boyd. Dr. Boyd had to deal with a little girl who becomes hysterical when anyone approaches her eye. Although we did have to hold her down so Dr. Boyd could examine her our granddaughter loves her doctor. And most importantly Dr. Boyd transitioned our granddaughter from a hard lens to a soft lens. Anyone who had to put a lens in a screaming child's eye knows this is a big deal. Dr. Boyd felt this was the best move and she was right. Our granddaughter is able to see better, the lens fits better and although we haven't quite mastered putting in the soft lens taking it out is a breeze. The most amazing part is Dr. Boyd let us practice on her! To me that is still amazing and above and beyond anything I have ever seen in a doctor. She had us bring our granddaughter in after hours so she would be comfortable coming to the office. If I had to pick the best thing that happen in this crazy year it is having Dr. Boyd as our eye doctor. Another great thing about the office is the staff. Everyone in the office is friendly and helpful. I want to give a special shout out to Kylie who I called by the wrong name for two years! She never once said anything and is always so sweet and helpful when I have a question about insurance or ordering our granddaughter lens. I can't stress enough how lucky we are to have Dr. Boyd and her staff here in Oakdale. I don't think we could go to a major hospital and receive any better care than we receive from her. Super easy and quick, very professional, Dr. Boyd is very personable and doesn't try to upsell anything to you. Very easy visit.

Short version: Dr. Boyd is professional, competent, and caring, and I don't plan on going anywhere else. She explains things clearly, and answers questions willingly, and I understand more about my eyes and their quirks than ever before! Long version: The office staff is all friendly and helpful--when I call or walk in, even if it's been a year, they remember me, which is an amazing feeling! I was immediately comfortable with Dr. Boyd, who's also great with little ones, by the way (baby and toddler). She doesn't use scare tactics (for example, when I confessed to not changing out my contacts as often as I should), but takes the time to explain why things are important. She answers questions clearly--both without dumbing things down, and without using too much industry jargon that most people wouldn't understand. Noticing some risk factors in my eyes, Dr. Boyd has helped set me up to take the best care of my eyes that I can for years to come. I also really appreciate the updated exam methods and equipment. Dr. Boyd's office uses retinal imaging to take pictures of the back of the eye (which apart from just being really cool to see the blood vessels on your eye!), means that dilation drops aren't needed. As someone whose eyes are already relatively light-sensitive, I'm glad not to deal with dilated pupils for hours after an appointment. The selection of glasses frames is one of the best in the area, and the staff does an awesome job of helping choose frames that look good and fit well, instead of just trying to sell the more expensive frames. UPDATE: After seeing Dr. Boyd for a few years, I just called the office to order more contacts, and found that she had the order ready to go, and just waiting for me to ask. This office has been great from the first phone call, to the visit, to getting the glasses. All the office staff were so nice! Dr Boyd was great with my daughter who was really nervous about it all; since it was her first appt. She treated my daughter more than just another patient and really made her first experience great. Shelly who fitted my daughter for glasses was so nice also. The glasses got ordered so fast that I was able to pick her glasses up in 3 days! I highly recommend them to everyone. read more
