I went to Allerton Diner because IHOP, doesn't make grits and they told me they do. I wanted to get some grits for my mom, who is at the nursing home down the road. Well I do not recommend this diner under any circumstances. Their food was just terrible, I ordered grits with corned beef hash, eggs and wheat toast. The only item in my order that may have been fresh were the eggs. The grits were undercooked, the hash must have been at least six months outdated, and the wheat toast has mold on it. I'll leave a picture. The service was subpar as the merchant taking the order didn't have much patience, she didn't give me much time to ask questions or to give suggestions, etc. My order was to go, yet and still the ambience was also subpar especially for the price I was being charged, because for the same price you can eat from IHOP, and get better everything. Better customer care, better food, etc, even when you order to go. Please avoid this establishment. read more

Order a bacon egg and cheese that was all and it was $7.35. That's INSANE. Sandwich was good but way over priced. The stores and other restaurant around the area I went to eat cheaper. Highest I paid before this was 4.50 for bacon egg and cheese or less. This place has nice people but price is ridiculous for a breakfast sandwich. I was going to order 2 but hell no. I really enjoy taking the family here! My ONLY complaint is that the breakfast (which is when we go) could use a bit more spices. The kids love it and that's really what's important! It's easy to get to from the 2 train, the staff is nice and it's hasn't been over crowded during the times we have gone on Saturday mornings. Horrible customer service: Called up to ask about the Thanksgiving special at 3:00 p.m. on the day before Thanksgiving and the impatient guy on the phone rudely said that they didn't even have a menu let alone a price for the Thanksgiving special, I said I'd call back later then he just hung up on me. This restaurant definitely deserves more stars. I've ordered from them multiple times and the food is always delicious. Not to mention the delivery is always on time and their customer service is excellent. Food was great delivery was a little early than expected time which was great. My fav food to get is medium well done burger with fries or onion rings and for breakfast its 2 eggs over medium and bacon with potatoes(home fries). So disappointed! Ordered food at 10 AM this morning and they informed that it would take 45 to an hour to arrive. It came at 11 AM and as my fiancé and I were eating he had a chunk of plastic that he had to pull out his mouth that was mixed in with his eggs and grits. We called them right away at about 11:10 AM and informed them what happened and the last said to see if the plastic was eggs and I informed her it was definitely plastic because my fiancé pulled the big piece out of his mouth. They said they would send another order and of course said that would take another 45 mins. Also in my grits there were ton of lumps in it and my food was cold. I've eaten at Allerton diner and ordered from them plenty of times and know that the food they served me today was not Allerton diner quality. Not sure if it was a different chef or if they were overwhelmed, but they have to get it together. Maybe that's why they have only 2 and a half stars on yelp. Since under new ownership, this place is starting to draw regulars once again. As I pass by, there's more customers and the seats are starting to get filled. On weekends, there are times I have to wait to be seated, but the food is worth it. Not bad...I like going to Coffee Shops for lunch around the Bronx and this one is just like any other one. I've been here 2xs and just had one issue, not involiving food. It's an okay restaurant. The burgers are good when they don't over cook them, which they tend to do and if you like brisket stay away from it here. The brisket is hard, thick and dry for my taste. The breakfast is pretty good. I do love their coffee. Overall it's ok but nothing to brag about. read more

an ok diner on allerton ave in the bronx serving the typical diner grub of breakfast. lunch and dinner. this place was once a jewish deli many years ago so the layout is the same with booths from front to back with the usual greek diner interior decor . i been here twice once for breakfast and other time for lunch . good burgers and pancakes but i really can't say that it's a place i would go out of my way for but it's in the area that i grew up in so that's my reason for a visit. overall friendly service and prices are fair and sometimes going to your local diner is better then a visit to mcdonald's . 3.5 stars on my yelp meter . read more

I order at 11:02 am was told it Would get here at 12:10pm it is now 1pm and i am still waiting for my food call three different times and each time i was told something different give it 10-15 mins then another time give it a fee more mins i waited 20 mins after i was told give it a fee more mins and the last time i called i spoke to a lady that was rude to me telling me give it a fee more mins and i told her i have then when i tried to explain whats going in he talked over me and told me to cancel my order that was already paid for and was getting nasty with me i asked to speak to someone else and she told me she was the manager. After waiting for the food for an hour and a half, our order was incomplete, but the restaurant charged us for an order that we did not receive. When we called the restaurant, I asked for price of the order we received to confirm pricing inconsistency. Once confirmed, I told them our order was incomplete, but we paid delivery guy for the FULL price of the original order and asked if they could please send the missing item we paid for or send back the money we were charged for the missing item. She said all they could do for us was give us a "credit for next time." I told her there wouldn't be a next time since this isn't the first time they screw up our order and that we needed either the food or money back today. She refused to help over the phone and we were forced to go in person to handle the situation. Food we did receive was cold. Horrible service. Will never go again. Find another diner.
