I was visiting a friend and she brought me here for lunch! Upon entry you see & feel a simple and comfort space. Apparently the place is owned by an Amish couple. We approached the counter and were greeted with warmth and smile. The cashier took our order and we found a table while we wait. Surprisingly for enriching freshly made it came out quickly. I end up ordering the cheesesteak omelette and my friend her usual, the Andy sandwich. Since we were starving. We got a latte and the apple cinnamon loaf while we wait. We were so hungry that as soon as the food came we gulfed everything down before I realized I forgot to share what the food look like. The Way Cafe has some pretty solid healthy options in an area where to be quite frank there isn't a plethora of options. I've ordered several things from this place but a personal favorite has to be the harvest salad. The apples + pecan + turkey + spinach combo just works, what can I say. I wasn't a huge fan of the poppyseed dressing though but it wasn't a big deal, I'd just prefer some traditional balsamic instead. All in all, glad that this place is in the Bronx. read more

While wandering Castle Hill, I was in need of a tea break and discovered The Way. Immediately you will notice the scripture decor, the calm atmosphere, and the cashier wearing a cape dress. Excited to see where this will go, I walked in. Food: 4.5/5 I got the turmeric bliss loose leave tea. My partner got a cafe au lait and a bacon pesto egg breakfast sandwich. My tea came out first and then his items. To be honest, my tea was similar to an apple spice with a sprinkle of turmeric. Not bad, but not my favorite. My partner throughly enjoyed his sandwich as there was barely anything left for me to taste. Considering this was all under $18 with tip. Definitely worth it. Service: 5/5 This is a café not a table service restaurant and honestly cafés shouldn't be. I was happy to be greeted at the register and thoroughly explained the difference between their loose leaf teas. Then, my partner picked up our order from the counter. We sat at one of few open tables that they have available (plus there were wall outlets)! After finishing our items, we placed on the dish bins on top of the garbage can. We definitely stayed for a good hour and really enjoyed taking a break there. All in all, this is now my go-to Cafe in Castle Hill. The tea, food, wifi, and calm atmosphere is a great way to start my Saturday morning. The only sad part is that they are not open everyday and close in the afternoon on Saturday. Both the large Oat and Almond Chai Lattes I got were good, so were the plain, buttery croissant and almond one too, plus my mom enjoyed both her Café Au lait and croissant BEC. Have you ever been to the corner of Happy and Friendly? This. Is. It. Monica(?) was super pleasant and Andy was incredibly helpful. To add, someone had her hands full (literally) as she headed out and a woman working on her laptop was nice enough to help her with the door. That's number one. Price at the end for me was a doable $30 and change. These folks got it all right and EXACTLY what Castle Hill needed. I'm a fan! I say the following with all due respect... but the line has to be drawn somewhere. The portions and quality of a lot of the food items have gone down to a level that I can only consider a disservice to the average consumer. The prices are also mind-blowing given the locality and AMI of the neighborhood. +$1.25 for alternative milk is more than any other cafe I have visited in Downtown, Williamsburg, South Bronx. The only thing this place has going for it is that it's clean, and that it's family-run (or Amish-community run). The drinks are still good, but the prices have totally spiraled. The people here are friendly and have never not been friendly but I implore management to rethink its pricing strategy and to reconsider the quality of provisions and execution of food menu items. I have been a management and consulting professional in this industry for a while, as well as an avid consumer of different fares in different restaurant service styles. I say this all with nothing but the best for this establishment. The approach your establishment is probably missing is likely one of outreach and inclusion in the neighborhood, not one of alienation (by pricing consumers out). I will be giving this place a break for a while but will revisit at some point to see if things get better, worse or stay the same. read more
