"I'm going to get to this one day but when....?" Well an unfortunate tow one late Monday evening and one quick phone call to a new shop led me to great luck with Allen's Automotive. I spoke with John throughout most of my calls and he was everything in terms of communication one would want- transparent and communicative throughout the entire service process. Turns out my car's part had to be completed at another shop (which caused the delay) but I was super thankful that my misfortune led me to a valued shop which restored my car to running again! When I worked in the midtown area I had a shop that was my go to and you click through what services are recommended (and color coded by emergent or to keep in mind for upcoming maintenance) and everything was straightforward. Allen's Automotive operates just like them. I had my hubcap come off, a few days later, a call in and within a few hours, the hubcap was ordered from Nissan and ready for me to pick up thanks to Allen for making this seamless. I had this happen with another autoshop in town and they made me order, pick up and pay for the hubcap which they then reimbursed (so this was so easy!) John up front was super on it getting us the parts we needed- we knew the drivers CV joint needed replaced but Phill our mechanic was so thorough and realized we had a bulge in our rear tire. I'm so glad I found this place. I spent four months taking my car to other shops for a hard to diagnose stalling issue. Everywhere I went would perform minimal diagnostics, suggest thousands in parts and labor for things they weren't sure about, or just act like it was an unsolvable problem. Luckily I took it to Allen's, they are lifesavers. When I called to discuss bringing my vehicle in, John was more confident and reassuring than any other shop I talked to. They did not disappoint. They did more driving and testing in the first two days then the other places did in a week. they did a "full" inspection on my vehicle and then less than a month later we discovered that my brake line was rubbing on the frame and it had worn to the metal and I could have lost my brakes. It was clear it had been wearing longer than a month. They refused to refund me the money for the inspection. offered me a credit. I would NEVER take my car there. its not the end of the world if your car doesn't start but it could be the end of the world if your vehicle doesnt STOP. BEWARE!!!! read more

WARNING!! Terrible place DO NOT BRING VEHICLE! Brought my 1993 Chevy here for them to replace a number of things that came out to 1400 dollars. Not a week later my transmission cracked and I took it to the AAA reapair center for them to be shocked that they would replace spark plugs etc when the transmission was clearly damaged or cracked. The guys at AAA saw my receipt from here and said I should get my money back. Surprisingly enough these shady mechanics did not even give me a dollar but drag it on for a week pretending they were going to help to not do a single thing pls. Save the time pay the extra to go anywhere else! At this point I'm pretty sure a monkey with a wrench would do a better job. Really considering at this point. read more

I've been coming to Allen's Automotive for many years now. My first car was a Honda Civic oh how I miss the maintenance prices on that car. I'm not too familiar with Mechanic Terminology but they NEVER make me feel stupid. They always break down as much as they can. I currently have a Chevy Malibu Hybrid I bought off of FB market broke down a few month after I got it but they fixed her right up. Not gunna lie the maintenance on my car is super expensive since switching from a Honda to a Chevy. I brought my 2014 2/28 Camaro to them for a aftermarket intake to be installed, so I drop my car off and they told me they would call me when it's done it went down to Summit racing. Got a couple things and they called me saying it was done when I go to pick it up they showed me the before and after and everything looked fine I thought they were professionals two days later I am on a drive and I noticed my car is running hot which it never does. I received a phone call from Kevin yesterday informing me your shop will not warranty any work since my vehicle is "custom". This comes after last week I returned to discus the following items which Kevin promised to make it right by refunding part or all of my money. When the master cylinder and brake booster were replaced my hydro boost steering was not re-installed correctly, causing the hydraulic lines to lay against the headers. I found this quickly after leaving the shop due to smoke rising out of the hood. This could have caused a fire and loss of control. If this happened on the freeway the results would be drastic for myself and my family; let alone innocent bystanders in the way of a 6,120 pound jeep. I have been shot, and blown up (twice) by enemies of our country...I do not need to die from someone else's negligence. The front brake caliper powder coat was also ruined by incorrectly bleeding the brake lines as well as the left control arm's custom powder coat. Their claim to fame is boasting about how your shop works on Ferrari's and Porsche's however, a $120,000 Jeep is respected enough to do a careful job? Allen's had my vehicle for a week yet very little was done for what I asked for. The front brake pads were not replaced as requested, nor the front rotors inspected, as well as the fuel pump replaced. I was patient with the timeline and paid my bill without complaint yet I feel completely disrespected by the entire team. read more

Went in 11/23/2021 to get a coolant leak diagnosed and fixed. After one of the guys looked at it, it was determined it was the water pump. I was originally quoted $750 to get the water pump replaced so total job done. After it was supposedly done to find out the bill was $1000 due to they quoted me the job if it was for a Dodge Ram but I have a GMC Sierra. Not very happy but I paid anyway. I noticed there was still some coolant drops collecting granted much less than originally. I was told by the mechanic that was normal was just overflow. Ok so I drove it away. Noticed that the ever so apparent coolant smell just would not go away. I drove the truck the next few days more than 100 miles and still the new fresh coolant drops/leak and the smell that would not go away. So the next week I went in to tell them that there is still a coolant leak that is very apparent even though I just paid $1000 to get it fixed. I was told that it would now need a leak compression test and that they would only do if I guaranteed them to do the job. So probably what another $1000 on a job that was never fixed in the first place. That is a slap in the face really. I ended up fixing it on my own. Do your self a favor for the amount you will pay to get a half job done buy the tools and do it yourself. Exactly what I did. read more

I like Allen's, usually when I need some thing done they can fit me in within a week. I take my truck and my wife's Highlander there for repairs. They are not far from my house so I can just drop my vehicle off and walk home, Normally they will call you between 10 and noon with results on how to fix your vehicle with prices marked out and have you ready by the end of the day. More then once, I have gone to Allen's for a second opinion about getting some work on my S-10 pickup truck. Each time they told me that I did not need the services recommended by other mechanics dealers. Over the years, they have saved me thousands of dollars of unnecessary work that other dealers told me I should have immediately. That is why I am rewarding them by having my oil changes done there, even though I am a low mileage driver and don't need a change all that often.
