I NEVER write reviews...so this review is a testament to how livid I am about my experience with All Surface Renew. I wish I could speak to the quality of their work (which I'm sure most people are interested in), but unfortunately, our relationship never quite got that far. I had a series of bad events with Jose, who I believe to be the owner (?) - and that, to me, is MOST unfortunate. 1) I engaged the company via email/ per their website. Jose responded quickly, while on vacation at that, and I thought, Great! This is a good sign. He requested photos of the work I needed done, to which I responded within hours. It was then that the cracks started showing...he never responded. 2) I made an allowance... figured he was probably buried in work since I knew he had recently returned from vacation...and said I'd give it up to 2 weeks. When he didn't respond, I followed up via email. After 2 days with no response, I followed up again. After yet another non-response, I gave him a call. Jose was pleasant enough, seemed somewhat scatter-brained, but well-intentioned. He said he would revisit my email, then respond with a quote within 4 hours. 3) When the quote came in. It seemed off. It sounded like he had quoted me for my master bathroom only, although the pictures I had sent (accompanied by a very detailed description of my request) included both my master & guest bathrooms. I responded to his email with a couple of clarifying questions; but -- yes, you guessed it! - got no response. 4) Again, I called him to iron my questions out. He was rather abrupt, cut me off a few times actually, but after hanging up then calling me back, admitted that he had misquoted me. He then revised his quote and sent it to me via email. I thought the price was steep, but was willing to pay for the a good job - so I didn't flinch 5) Jose then emailed me an appointment, for Tuesday the 23rd, with arrival between 9a - 10a and a call 30mins ahead of arrival. I work M - F, and am in the middle of a massive project at work - but I prioritized this appointment, and shuffled everything around so I could clear my day for this appointment. I confirmed the appointment with Jose over email, and allowed myself to get excited about the imminent tile "facelift" On the day of the appointment, I call him at 9:30a to check their arrival status. Jose doesn't even know who I am!!! Tells me he's in the middle of drafting a very important email, and has to call me back. When he calls back, he admits that he had forgotten about the appointment, and says he would do everything to "squeeze me in today and make sure the job gets done". Folks, if I'm paying you over $1000 for a paint job, the LAST thing I want is to be "squeezed in". I - very politely - expressed my disappointment in the entire experience, told him that I had taken the day off for this. In a nut-shell, Jose told me that he single-handedly fields about 200 emails /texts per day. This was the last straw for me - I told him I would take my business to a company that can better handle their workload. In summary, I found Jose to be one of those arrogant men who furnishes his rudeness with perfunctory "please"s and "my apologies" and "thank you"s! Word to the wise, actions speak louder than words...so PLEASE spare us the niceties and focus more on being a true professional. read more

Our 20 year old discolored tub was in need of attention. Replacement and tub liners were expensive options. So we decided to have it refinished. I am so sorry to write this review, as I had read so many favorable reviews, but I need to let people know that there are mixed experiences. I texted José to arrange a tub being resurfaced. I agreed to a day other than my ideal one to suit his schedule. He phoned me an hour and fifteen minutes before the time we agreed twice within fifteen minutes. His second message canceled my appointment. When I was able to answer his voicemail, and I indicated that I hoped he could resolve the matter before I made this post, he replied "I can come back later today, not out of fear of a bad reputation but beca... If you keep threating me my offer is off" (I am typing the message verbatim). I rang my husband, and we agreed that we were not comfortable with such a person being in our home. I am truly stunned. In 25 years of living in Austin, I have never had someone be so unprofessional and aggressive. If you can sit at home and wait on them, this may be a good choice, but (unless you want to be attacked as well as not to have the work done) please hesitate before hiring this company. read more

Jose came out to fix my brand new bathtub after it had a divot taken out of it while the bathroom was under construction. He told me upfront he wanted to manage my expectations, and gave me an idea of what to expect from best to worst case scenario. He was very friendly and professional. The result is that it's totally repaired, can't tell there was any damage at all, he did a great job. We had a problem with our scheduled appt. though as the appt. was scheduled bet. 12-3pm and we got a call at 9:15am saying he was on his way. Small mix up, wasn't a big deal to us. read more

Jose and his crew came out and did a great job on our plexiglass tub. It's an 80s model that they reinforced and refinished in about three hours. The best part was Jose explained everything they were doing and laid drop cloths from the door to the bathtub. I have not seen many contractors who take as much care for others' property. We just had Jose and his crew resurface 2 double vanities and 2 bathtubs. They were in pretty bad condition and they look brand new. They were very professional and did a great job prepping the work area and keeping things clean and dust free. Had a large job. Bathtub, garden tub, shower, two tiled areas, two vanities, large kitchen counters with at least 7 area stations. We decided to resurface instead of tearing everything out. It was only a 1/4 or less of what it would have cost us and we couldn't be happier. All my neighbors came over to look at it and were amazed. This was a great option for our house, because we have construction situations that would have been extra costly for us to rip out. Jose Olmedo is a professional and courteous gentleman and was helpful with any indecisiveness on our part. I am a do-it-yourself-er and will tackle hard jobs. I looked into buying a kit, but couldn't imagine that it would turn out ok. or that I had the quality of machinery, it would take. I watched Jose's process and skill and in no way recommend anyone do this themselves. Everything looks brand new. We discovered our 20 year old Roman tub had a crack and was leaking. We feared it would have to be replaced, that is until we found Jose and his crew with All Surface Renew. They first came out on Monday, but made us aware of a plumbing problem that needed to be addressed. They could have not told us and done the job, we wouldn't have known, but instead they did the right thing and rescheduled us after we had the plumbing fixed. That brings us to today. These gentleman treated our home with great respect. Tarps were laid to protect our flooring, towels on our counters. Anything that had to be moved they asked our permission to touch. They were extremely professional while being incredibly friendly. And the end result, a gorgeous bathtub that doesn't leak! read more

Jose and his assistant did a great job on my old bathroom sink. It looks like new. They arrived on time and were very careful to cover the floor around the work area and the fixtures. Jose took the time to tell me how to care for the sink after it was resurfaced and asked me to call him if there were any problems after he left. Jose takes pride in his work. He refinished a sink for us last year which was a fairly painless process for us and came out great. This year we were having trouble with rust stains coming from the overflow drain for some reason (not related to the work he did). Jose came to the house the day after we called him and filled the hole in the back of the sink with some kind of epoxy and touched up the finish and now it's good as new! All Surface Renew repaired a few small chips on our bathtub. The service was professional and even though the work was backed by only a 1 year warranty we were told with good care it should last many years. After 18 months all repaired areas have almost completely flaked off. I never use abrasive or harsh cleaners & our kids use foam bath toys. We are disappointed the repair didn't last. read more

I used Jose to renew my old butcher block laminate kitchen counter. He did an excellent job and in just a day I had an updated very nice kitchen counter! His work was very clean and he did an excellent job. He delivered exactly what I wanted for the price I wanted. Had a clawfoot tub with a large chunk of porcelain missing and several small chips. These guys took my 1928 tub and made it look brand new. We used All Surface Renew last month to repair and refinish our cultured marble corner whirlpool tub that was leaking from one of the cracks. I had called a total of six places to get estimates. After describing the size of the cracks in our tub, two places declined to even provide a quote. Of the remaining four, All Surface Renew was within the same price range as the other businesses. They were also the first ones who were able to come to my home to provide a more accurate estimate. My husband was at home to meet them, and he was very impressed with Will's professionalism. After providing a price quote, Will informed us that they were available to repair/refinish our tub on a SATURDAY, so my husband booked the appointment. I must admit, I was a little worried to use this company after seeing some of the complaints on Yelp. I would like to address some of these problems as they have made a great effort to correct some of their business practices. There was a complaint about All Surface Renew not providing references. At the time of our consultation with Will, we were provided a list of references ranging from other homeowners, to realtors, and investors. In all, eight references were listed. It seems there were also cases of "no call, no show" with other clients. Will showed up to the consultation on time, and they showed up on time to do the work. They even called earlier that day to see if they could start work earlier. Each time I spoke with Will or Jose, they were courteous and professional. They seemed very determined to make my 20 year old tub look as good as new. Given that other companies refused to even provide a quote (or rather, even BOTHER with trying to get my business), both Will and Jose were motivated to earn my business. Now, let's get to the overall work process and quality of the finished product. For those of you who are not familiar with the "refinishing" process, I would like to insert a little bit of a warning here. This process is SMELLY! We had every window in our house open, as well as the bathroom door shut the majority of the time and I could still smell the chemicals almost two days after. This process also takes several hours, so make sure you do not make any other plans that the day the work is scheduled. As I mentioned before, Jose showed up on time for the appointment. He and his helper immediately set to work. Once the work was done, they did a very good job of cleaning up the area. When Jose provided us with our invoice, it also included their work warranty (in WRITING). He also provided a paper which included care/maintenance information for our newly refinished tub. This is helpful because it informs you to say "bye-bye" to any abrasive cleaners/tools. It also tells you to wipe down your tub after each use, which can be tedious but it's to avoid any kind of hard water staining on the finish. Be aware that any plumbing issues (leaking water) left unattended that ruins the finish is NOT covered by the warranty. I purposely waited to write this review so that I could give an honest review of the work quality. To be honest, it's ALMOST perfect. There are a few trivial finish issues such as an obvious "run" in the finish (only visible when up close and personal), and I can see where the repair to some of the cracks was performed because it is not flush with the rest of the tub. HOWEVER, I would like to make it known that I had 8-10 cracks/chips in my tub, some of which were almost a foot long running horizontally around the tub. Given the amount of cracks and the size of the tub, I really am not going to complain about a few imperfections. I will say that the color is consistent throughout the entire tub AND the surround as well as tub skirting. Since I have a five foot by five foot corner tub, I am surprised there aren't more issues with the refinish just because of its size. All in all, the refinish/repair job is PHENOMENAL in my opinion. We are so happy with their work, we are already planning to have them refinish the sink in the same bathroom so that it will match the tub, as well as have them put a granite finish on our laminate kitchen counters. After all was said and done, I not only got a follow-up call from Will 1-2 days later but I also received a "Thank you" card in the mail. How often do you get a handwritten card in the mail in this technological day and age? If anything, we should have sent THEM a card for doing such a great job on our tub and sparing us THOUSANDS of dollars on replacing it with a new one. read more

After a year, the white paint yellowed and even the sink mismatched the pedestal base. It looked bad, like paint. It was not appropriate for a bathroom sink. I took it to be stripped and powder coated ($240), which I should have done in the first place. If you can take your fixtures out I think this is the best option for old cast iron tubs and sinks. read more

I recently purchased a 70's fixer-upper, and rather than doing a complete bathroom remodel, I hired Jose and his crew to come in and refinish the vanities and bathtubs in both bathrooms of my house. If you don't know how this process works, it basically involves cleaning the surface of the soon-to-be-resurfaced area, fixing any damage to it, and then spraying it with a type of plastic epoxy coating that is designed to make it look new and last several years. It's something I've had done at other homes in the past, and I've always been pleased with the result. Jose and his team are pretty much at the top of their game, and they came in and did a quality job with no mess left behind. They had to come back and perform one touchup because of a drying mishap, but I can't ding them for that, because Jose was gracious about the repair, and returned quickly to address the problem. That kind of customer service goes a long way in my book. read more

I had an old tub redone. Owner came by, instructed two guys what to do, and then left. I chose the grip bottom to avoid dealing with the messy rubber tub mats that tend to get moldy after a while. Well, the grippy bottom is not that grippy, and we have slipped more than once. However, now we cannot put the tub mats down on this new surface (per instructions). I'm also not happy about their being overspray everywhere. During the process, they covered some surrounding surfaces with brown paper, but they didn't cover everything, so now the shower head and other surfaces feel like sandpaper. Couldn't talk with the workers after Jose left as they didn't speak English. I wish I had a better idea of what my money was paying for before starting. The youtube videos do show you a before and after, which usually look nice by comparison, but the real experience however, can be a different story. read more
