Ruaa is incredibly sweet, patient, and intuitive. Our son takes a long time to warm up to people, but she never rushed him or pushed past his comfort level. Because of that, he has built a beautiful connection with her. He now grabs her hand to help him open cabinets, and feels safe enough to make strong eye contact with her while she's working with him on identifying toys and engaging in play. Those moments may seem small to some, but for us they are huge milestones and they speak volumes about Ruaa's ability to truly connect with children where they are. She meets our son with so much compassion and respect, and it shows in the progress he's making. I went to Physical Therapy at Arrowhead orthopedics which is down stairs from my surgeon very convenient. I requested this office for its great therapist. Krista is the manager and top notch therapist. She helped me last TKR and I was there it felt like half my life with a stubborn knee. I was there 60 sessions with my first replacement this replacement I was there 12 amazing. My therapist was Shelly and she did a good job but she was not there a few times I was and I had the Therapist Assistant Alexia. She was so patient and sweet and very helpful. I also LOVE Amy! She has been there since my last surgery and she makes me laugh, and she is extremely motivating which is very important in recovery. I felt that she did not allow enough time for my child to transition and adjust before ending the session, and her manner felt rushed and harsh. As a parent, I suggested that next time my child be given a brief moment to finish cleaning up the toys, especially since there were still five minutes scheduled for parent discussion, which were not used. She did not acknowledge this suggestion and instead stated that she needed to end the session because she had another patient. At that time, our session had not yet ended, and there were still approximately three minutes remaining in the parent discussion period. I explained that allowing less than 30 seconds to clean up helps prevent triggering my child, as children on the spectrum can be very sensitive to abrupt transitions. Unfortunately, her response and facial expression felt cold and dismissive, which made the interaction uncomfortable. I was disappointed by this experience, as I expected a higher level of patience and understanding from a professional working in this field. Effective therapy requires flexibility, empathy, and collaboration with parents, and I did not feel those qualities were demonstrated during this session.
