Her contributions to the field of speech-language pathology have been recognized by her receiving the highest honor possible from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, ASHA Honors. In short, Dr. Langdon is an outstanding speech-language pathologist. Dr. Maxine Starr is additionally an exceptional therapist. She, too, has extensive experience in working with children of all ages in different clinical settings, in schools as well as in private practice. I sent all my info like they asked and never heard anything back, so I called back everyday and didn't actually get any help until the 4th time I called back and even then, they weren't helpful at all. I already called my son's pediatrician office and told them to please stop recommending their patients to this place. If you can please go to another clinic. Even if the wait time is long, it will still be better than this place. If you're that busy and don't want new patients, please say so instead of wasting both our time. Because of that, he has built a beautiful connection with her. He now grabs her hand to help him open cabinets, and feels safe enough to make strong eye contact with her while she's working with him on identifying toys and engaging in play. I felt that she did not allow enough time for my child to transition and adjust before ending the session, and her manner felt rushed and harsh. As a parent, I suggested that next time my child be given a brief moment to finish cleaning up the toys, especially since there were still five minutes scheduled for parent discussion, which were not used. She did not acknowledge this suggestion and instead stated that she needed to end the session because she had another patient. At that time, our session had not yet ended, and there were still approximately three minutes remaining in the parent discussion period. I explained that allowing less than 30 seconds to clean up helps prevent triggering my child, as children on the spectrum can be very sensitive to abrupt transitions. Unfortunately, her response and facial expression felt cold and dismissive, which made the interaction uncomfortable. I was disappointed by this experience, as I expected a higher level of patience and understanding from a professional working in this field. Effective therapy requires flexibility, empathy, and collaboration with parents, and I did not feel those qualities were demonstrated during this session.

We saw 3 or 4 speech therapist before her and suddenly he's 95% on board with participating while practicing new skill and he was 0% participating with the other ones. So grateful we got paired with her, she pushes him the perfect amount for him and that changes by the moment constantly reading him and seeing what he's up to in each moment while not letting him avoid practice all together.
