This is the second time having my deck done by this company. Fist time was perfect, I was happy and had no complaints. So this time, I went right back without comparing them to other bids; that was a dumb mistake. The quoted price was 30% more (well outpacing inflation...but I know construction costs in the bay area have been doing that). Did I overpay? I'll never know for sure. My bad for that one. The communication could have been better. This time just like last, Al came out and did the estimate and told me what work would be done. That was practically the last time I saw him. A different guy showed up on the scheduled day and started moving furniture. Some of it is heavy and he was dragging it. I didn't want any wood damage or lawn damage so I helped him. It was just him and me, moving all the furniture. Luckily I didn't have physical issues preventing that, but if you do...you might want to make other arrangements. I'm sure Al could have sent a second helper if I had asked. Second, their worker was nice enough and very diligent, but there was a severe language barrier. We only understood a few words from each other, and misunderstandings were common. That prevented us from clarifying several things like the furniture moving, timing of the second coat, and most importantly, color choice. He seemed to not have any info from Al about the job, and didn't know what color to apply. I told him to keep the same color, but he suggested a different one than we used last time. So now our deck is a darker shade than I wanted. He also said clear coat would be better; but couldn't tell me why and only suggested it after alerady starting on the...inferior...semi-transparent color he chose for me! Not horrible, not a deal breaker, but not 5 star yelp review service and communication! read more

Al, Jessica and the crew are fantastic! We had them perform a full deck restoration, including replacing some planks and supports, sanding the entire deck back to bare wood, including all flat horizontal surfaces as well as the top of the rails, and adding two coats of stain. This is the second time we've used All Pro Deck in the 18 years we've owned our home. They do not disappoint! Great communication. Professional. Good value. And the deck looks like new! Highly recommended! Thank you Al and Jessica! read more

Everyone on Al's team was polite, knowledgeable, and did their work carefully. My deck needed to have some boards replaced, and Al sent a carpenter who expertly fit in new board sections while maintaining the still-good sections of each board. Then Al's team sanded and washed the deck in preparation for staining. Here's where things went a bit sideways, because of me. I know I can be a PIA, and I found it difficult to finalize the stain I wanted. Al was VERY patient with me while providing 5 different samples. Finally, I settled on one and his crew sanded off the sample patches and completed the work. Their workmanship was outstanding. My deck looks GREAT! Feel free to contact me with questions. read more

Overall excellent experience. Timely, competitive pricing and excellent workmanship. The job was not easy -- multiple aged ipe decks that had been neglected and were exposed to direct sunlight. When the job was finished they looked as good as they ever had. And the stain used was top quality and has held up quite well. I'd hire them again. read more

All Pro Deck has cleaned & re-oiled our cumaru wood deck for 2 years now, and they do a great job every time. They are reliable, hard-working, and have an attention to detail. They are also one of the few contractors that actually responded to our call for a bid in the first place. Highly recommended for your deck needs. read more

If you want to restore your decks, do yourself a favor and give All Pro Deck Restoration a call. Al and his hard working crew did an outstanding job. Kudos to the hard working crew for their expert and professional workmanship. The crew worked with precision and paid attention to details. They spent a day+ sanding and cleaning the deck, which was done to perfection. The application of the stain was applied with care. We couldn't have been happier with the final product. Great people, superior work, and excellent price and value. We got much more than we paid for. read more

We hired All Pro Deck to renew the badly-weathered 500-sqft redwood deck at the house we recently bought. They sanded the deck, washed it (including getting the crud out from between the boards), applied a brightener, and finally stained it. Al, the owner/foreman, came out promptly to give us an estimate for sanding, cleaning, brightening, and staining our deck. We had several other companies give us estimates before choosing All Pro. They had the lowest bid, and also seemed like a professional operation that actually specializes in deck maintenance/repair. Al was also patient in thoroughly answering my many questions about different types of stain, whether our deck was in good enough shape to warrant repair, etc. Al's workers arrived on time when the work was scheduled to start, and they were courteous and accommodating of my requests that they not damage our plants/hot tub, etc. They did a great job, and our deck looks a million times better than it did. We would recommend All Pro to others who have decks that need some TLC. read more

They refinished our redwood decks and stairs. Needed some carpentry, such as replacing old boards and building a staircase. Everything looks great. We were very happy with their work, which was done at a good price. Will use them again. read more

Al and his employees are as professional as it gets! They transformed our old, rotten deck into a beautiful entertaining space. Al was very attentive and really listened to what we needed. His employees were on time and so very meticulous about making sure we were happy. We got many other estimates and felt All Pro's estimate to very reasonable. I highly recommend All Pro Deck! Best company I've dealt with in over 25 years of owning 3 beat up homes that have needed much love and work. Clear communication, appointments kept, really great work, and really great prices. Did extra work that I thought of after the quote, and threw it in for free. Can't imagine how they could have been better. I never write reviews, but felt compelled to for All Pro. read more

Al and his crew were great. Very friendly and professional to work with and they did a terrific job on our deck. Refinished the entire deck including lattice section in less than a week. It looks like new! We will definitely be working with them again. read more

If you are looking for a deck restoration company, All Pro Deck is it. When I purchased my home the only problem I had was that the previous owners didn't take care of the deck. It was looking old, dark, brown and terrible. I looked around for a company and got different estimates. All Pro Deck was by far the most professional and the quote was comparable if not better to other companies. They came, did the work and were gone within hours. Even a year later my deck looks amazing. I will definitely use All Pro Deck again. Ali and his crew were super nice and hard working. So, in a year or so I will be giving them a call. read more

All Pro just finished refinishing a 20 year old redwood deck of ours and we could not be happier! It looks like new. They were on time, efficient, courteous and especially helpful with removing heavy items from the deck before working on the wood. Great advice from Al on the treatment and finish. We will use them again! Phil E. read more

Excellent job! We hired All Pro to pressure wash our patio; repaint our porch and steps; and refinish our deck. They did incredible work all around -- especially on the deck, which has been restored to its original glory. (It may look better than its original glory!) They were very friendly, showed up exactly when they said they would and were efficient with their time. Very upfront and fair about costs. We will use All Pro for all our backyard jobs! read more

After a few nightmarish encounters with different deck restoration contractors, I finally found the one which I can trust and use again. After about 10 years of neglect (not by me, I just bought the house) my deck was looking pretty horrible. I knew there was a beautiful deck hiding beneath, waiting to come out. Initially, I contacted a few companies in the area and had no luck, until I contacted All Pro Deck. Negotiating the price was super easy. Al made sure I feel comfortable with the price and treated me with outmost respect. He took his time explaining the process and gave me a detailed timeline. After Al and his trusty team were finished I was in awe. You could see the beautiful red color gleaming. It was like a brand new deck was installed. The whole process was so easy, short and very professional. I definitely recommend to everyone and anyone in need of serious (and not so serious) deck refinishing to use Al and his All Pro Deck company. read more

All Pro Painting was extremely professional thru the restoration process of my deck. I have a fairly large deck which has been neglected for several years. After looking at different companies I decided to go with All Pro Painting because of the Owner professionalism. He educated my on different types of options I had and why. Work was clean, on time and well done. If you are looking to refinish your deck or re-stain it, look no further. This company is the real deal and I highly recommend it. read more

I would recommend All Pro Deck. We have a 756 Sq Ft. clear redwood deck at our WC home. It had been painted over the years and we had peeling. Al's crew of two (Jose & Jorge) sanded it carefully down to bare wood. The crew was polite and worked very hard. Then after cleaning it, sealed it with semi-transparent stain, two coats. A few boards had to be replaced and the crew graciously picked up the lumber at Dolan's in Concord before work. We were in communication with Al almost daily. He replied to our emails and phone calls timely. The negatives: The crew had to leave our job to work on another which was unexpected. The cost was steep :$4300. Overall we are very satisfied and it looks beautiful. Job completed in August 2012. read more

Ditto the other reviewers. Al and his team at All Pro did a fabulous job from the initial quote through the final clean up. I have LOTS of deck area and balconies that had been neglected for years, the end result is awesome! If you are looking for deck resurfacing hire them. I interviewed three companies from Yelp and glad I picked them. Very professional, informative, constant communication, team showed up on time every one of the 4 days, Al and Jessica came by daily to check in and make sure I was happy. Upon completion they actually cleaned my floors inside because we brought all of the outside furniture in. I told them not to worry about it, that they had done enough and it was late on Saturday and they said no it's OK. read more

All the folks at All Pro Deck could not have been more professional, friendly, and accommodating. Al inspected the deck and recommended what should be done now and what could wait until next year or later. Jessica found a way to get the work scheduled at a convenient time. Benito and Jorge are highly skilled and careful woodworkers who did a beautiful job. They also did excellent preparation and clean up, covering plants and patio furniture and leaving no trace when they finished. Would highly recommend them and will use them again in the future. They did an AMAZING job. We were going to rip out our old deck and start fresh but Al came in and made the old new again! So much cheaper and it looks great. That was 6 months ago and it still looks brand new. Great service and communication, too! read more

The work was great for my 700sf 2 tier redwood deck and fencing. They sanded all surfaces and made sure all nails were fully in the wood. They cleaned the surfaces and applied a natural color preservative. This 33 year old deck looks almost new. They did not charge as much as I expected for the deck or the fence. I would highly recommend them. read more

Let me also add to the list of people who have worked with and really appreciated Al and his team. They re-finished a very worn, 20+ year old deck, and painted a hallway for us. They squeezed us in so they could finish both jobs in time for a big family party. Both projects look great and the crews were super clean. Al stayed on top of the projects, checking in with us throughout. We had over 50 people at the party and as it turned out, it was 105 degrees the day of the party, so we really needed that deck! read more

They did a great job. Deck looks brand new. Much better than I expected. Will use again.

We had a great experience with Al and his team. A challenging project -- three different kinds of wood, an existing finish that was failing in a truly ugly way... Al recommended a power wash, which helped... but did not push us to do a total refinish (no upselling at all). We decided not to wait another year and do the complete refinish work this summer. His team was friendly, professional, hard working... and they needed to be hard working because taking off the old finish was quite a lot harder than anticipated. They simply stuck to it and got it done. The new finish is considerably more beautiful than the old. The price of the work was completely reasonable. Strongest possible recommendation for this business! read more

All Pro did our deck last week. They did an excellent job, very thorough. We are really happy with the way the deck looks. Al helped me pick, the color and it looks great. Al and his crew were an absolute joy to work wtih last week. They truly went above and beyond and made our very weathered deck look almost new again! All Pro Deck replaced a few boards as needed, secured loose boards, sanded everything, cleaned and power washed the deck, then applied two coats of solid color stain. Add to that, right in the middle of staining I asked them to do some additional work that we agreed would make my old trellis area of the deck look even better. Al made a special trip to buy more materials, and it turned out beautifully! What a friendly, honest, neat, and professional business to work with; thank you for a job very well done, Al! read more

I saw these guys review on Yelp so decided to give them a try. I had 4 small redwood decks and a redwood pool cover seat that needed restoration. They did a great job, completing the task in one day. It required a lot of work (cleaning, sanding), plus a coat of sealant. Their prices were very fair. I would strongly recommend them to anyone, and I would hire them again in a heartbeat. read more

Have used All Pro twice to sand and stain our deck. Turned out great both times. Highly recommend.

I have had a very large redwood deck for 20 years and I've tried numerous companies for maintenance over the years, with varying degrees of satisfaction. All Pro was wonderful to deal with. Al was knowledgable, honest, and responsive. The work was done efficiently and thoroughly. They replaced boards which needed replacing and Al worked with me to try to match the color, so the new boards blended with the old. I would definitely work with them again & refer them to my friends. It's hard to find a reputable, high quality deck restoration company & these guys are exactly that! read more

All Pro Deck just repaired and restained our 1500+ sq. ft. redwood deck. They did a beautiful job- we are very pleased with the results! We contacted 4 companies and one wanted us to replace our deck, another just wanted to pressure wash (without sanding), and one even wouldn't do any repairs, they just wanted to stain! All Pro Deck did exactly what we hoped for- replaced damaged boards, washed, sanded and roll-stained our deck. Their prices were fair and they were very attentive to concerns before, during, and even after the job was completed. Very nice and trustworthy company to work with. Plus our deck looks fabulous! Thanks, Al and crew! read more

Al is fantastic! He and his team did a great job staining our two new redwood decks. I had originally picked one stain color but when the day came to start he and I agreed a different color might be best. As his team prepped he went off to get it with zero complaints. He really wanted us to be happy with the job. Upon completion I had a couple questions and he came back over to answer them. I highly recommend Al and his company. They did a really professional job. read more

We have some old decks that were looking tired and worn. We live in a wet part of Orinda and the weather had really given them a beating over the years. We were afraid we'd have to replace them, or at least cover them with a coat of paint and lose the beauty of the wood. Al and his team restored them and they look fantastic. We will use them again to maintain the decks. Great company, very responsive and customer-focused. And the price was just right. read more

All Pro Deck did an excellent job rehabilitating our wood deck and I was impressed with the experience from start to finish. Al, the owner, came to our house and provided a reasonable quote for the work that needed to be done, and the job was completed on time and on budget. They did a very nice job sanding, re-staining and also replacing one of the boards. When the job was completed, they followed up with a phone call to ensure everything was done to my satisfaction. I just had my deck re-done a second time with Al. Very happy with their service and results. Would highly recommend.
