I reached out to Paintmasters initially to get a quote on painting the interior walls of the house I had just purchased on a very tight timeline (before I moved in). Brian came out to do a walkthrough and had some additional recommendations based on his own observations which I told him to go ahead and price as well. Throughout the visit I was so impressed with Brian's knowledge and demeanor and I liked him immediately. The estimate was super reasonable but I had to go with someone else simply due to timing. However, I saved the additional work Brian had recommended because I knew it could be done after I'd moved in without being disruptive. I also knew I would likely have some more paint projects to come and sure enough I did, just a couple of months later. Paintmasters was my first and only call. I have level 5 smooth drywall and I needed drywall repair plus the entire ceiling and portions of the wall in the great room painted after having done some A/V and electrical wiring work. Additionally I needed the ceiling of the main bedroom painted following some work that was done there, plus the front and back exterior doors to my house needed new paint because Brian had noticed during his first walkthrough with me that the previous owners had simply used the wrong type of paint for the exterior. Finally I had some exterior touch up paint needed following the installation of pavers on my patio that exposed parts of my home that were previously hidden. Paintmasters color matched the exterior paint colors and ordered and picked up all the necessary paint. Brian kept me informed throughout the project on what day and at what time I could expect the workers next, as well as what they would be working on that day. The workers showed up on time, did a thorough job of protecting all the necessary surfaces, worked extremely neatly and then cleaned up after themselves each day. Brian came back to do the final walkthrough and wrap up the project including pouring out any leftover paint into smaller cans, labeling them, and then handling the disposal of the original paint containers. That last bit I absolutely LOVED! How many times have you been stuck with a bunch of paint cans that are partially used but taking up space but you don't want to get rid of because you want to keep some touch up paint on hand? The best money you'll invest in your home. A few months back I had Paintmaster's provide a bid to paint my kitchen cabinets along with a few other bids. PM bid was very detailed down to the name of the primer and paint to be used. Best price for quality work. My cabinets were not in the best shape as they were a veneer of oak that was chipped and pealing everywhere. The prep to several days then primed and painted to completion. We hired Paintmasters to paint the interior and exterior trim for new sliding glass doors, interior ceiling crack repair, and some touchup. They did a great job matching pain and stain. A relatively small job. They were very communicative, prompt, and did an excellent job. Areas not to be painted were carefully protected and when they left at the end of the day, everything was very clean. They also offered to consolidate all the large buckets of left over pain into smaller cans and properly labeled them. David and Brian are great communicators and Santis is very conscientious and does quality work. I felt the price was on par with the quality they provide. I called Paintmasters from an internet search. I'm glad I did, as they came out that afternoon, as my location was "on the way" home. That was May 23rd. I got the bid right away. It was clear and provided all the needed information, and we felt it was a fair price. We took some time to make up our mind and I got 1 other bid, over the phone. He said I had a good price and they couldn't do it for less than an amount that was $2,000 more than Paintmasters (PM). This other person offered me refacing for about "double" the PM bid. And I had had a sales pitch (very comfortable) from Reborn (Costco) for refacing that came to about "4 times" the PM bid. We wanted it to look nice, but it's not our dream house, so we went with quality painting. Bryan came over to do colors and he brought color books, but we weren't prepared. We should have already researched colors before, instead of waiting until he came over with the books. It took us almost a week and a half I think to decide on colors. Johnny arrived on July 9th and took all the cabinet drawers. He said someone would be by the next day to start masking and so we hurriedly emptied everything. Only to find out that painting was not scheduled until the following Monday, July 15. So, I learned a lesson, **talk to the project manager or owner regarding scheduling, not the workers". But it turned out OK as we had some extra time to do some deep cleaning and treated some mold under the sink. Starting on the 15th, our kitchen was masked off, but we could still get to the frig. We used a camping stove, a hot pot and ate out a good bit (just the 2 of us). Painting went fine, they even fixed some drywall behind the frig and painted under the sink with a mold resistant coating. I was charged extra for this, but it was again a fair price, and saved me having to find a drywall guy on my own. They also painted the plastic rings on the recessed lights. They removed and replaced all of the recessed light housings. I was notified of starting time and scheduling daily. Sometimes they worked only 2-3 hours, as paint needed to dry and then be sanded. This was for the cabinets, the cabinet doors they took back to the shop. They also painted my kitchen door, the walls, the baseboard and the ceiling. We were very happy with the process, the workers were polite, friendly, clean and spoke English pretty well. Bryan was available for questions most any time and David, the Owner, was by twice and his visits were very valuable. He answered questions, gave suggestions and made an assessment of the work with his men. There was clear attention to detail and 100% customer satisfaction. During the walkthrough (July 26th), Bryan adjusted/straightened all the cabinet doors, installed all the freshly painted recessed light plastic rings and examined a couple spots where the lines were uneven. He said he would schedule a painter to complete the touch-up and also paint the outside of the garage/kitchen door as it was badly chipped/worn. It took another week for someone to get out there and finish as the week's schedule was already set and they had to free somebody up to come by. The finish date was August 2nd and being without the kitchen wasn't as bad as I thought. They left me 4 quarts of paint, one of each of the color/types used. We are very happy with the way the kitchen turned out. The cabinets are very smooth and the fresh paint on the door, baseboard and ceiling really bring out the cabinet color. The kitchen is brighter and we are now motivated to think about more interior painting now that we have found a reputable contractor. Just remember, be prepared with colors, although they will help you with suggestions. Having the paint out sheets really helps and they do not rush you. But it is an important decision and they do have a schedule to keep. All work done outside the bid will be charged for, but the prices were fair and explained well. and you saw the bid adjustment before the work was scheduled. They may be Paintmasters but this business is all about the cabinets! This is a diamond certified business, an industry honor not easily achieved. They use a unique green standard process on cabinets that is water based - leading to less odor, longevity, and backed by a 5 year warranty. I reached out via Yelp and got some quick feedback and invite to schedule an in person estimate on 20 kitchen cabinets and 5 bathroom cabs. Lucky for me, the faces were in good shape so painting was the recommendation. I also requested repainting on walls, trims, doors and baseboards in the kitchen, dining and living rooms. Compared to a second quote, Paintmasters came in just under and, did I say, warranties their work??? We picked a schedule that worked with my work sched and off we went to an accurately estimated week of work. David has a lot of ideas and more than willingly gave me feedback and insight about colors and sheen. The man has spent his entire career in this trade and has real joy when he talks about the work. You do need to have your colors picked so they can get all the paint ordered on time. The team moved and covered all my heavy furniture, covered all the floors and surfaces, and were EXTREMELY quiet. I was able to work from a different room with no disruption. The team is respectful and neat. Juan has an amazing eye for detail and raised some elements that we didn't initially discuss. Had he not pointed it out, the color contrasts would not be amazing as they are. No detail was missed by David and Juan (think UNDERNEATH the cabinet boxes and counters, and caulking where the wall and ceiling meet). The cabinet faces get taken off site and when they were reinstalled, I was truly amazed by how beautiful the color came out. It looks like they came this way! I was very disappointed with the paid custom paint job that was done as part of our upgrade for our new build by Toll's contractors. Barely a year after moving in, we noticed the paint got dirty and pretty much was permanent. We couldn't clean it. Toll's warranty had problems touching up our place because they couldn't get the touch-up paint colors correct. 4 years in and I have 2 young kids under 3 making a mess everywhere. This is when I decided we really need to hire someone to paint our house so that we could clean our walls and not have the paint disintegrate. At first, we tried to contact Dave to paint our front door, but shortly after when we decided to paint the whole interior, I made a consultation appt. Brian arrived to do a walkthrough. I had talked to 2 other paint companies prior & what a world of a difference. Brian is a gem at this company. Something about the way he listened to my concerns and the time spent at the walkthrough. This company's quote was one of the higher ones of 5 companies but I decided to go with them because of Brian's expertise as well as his "can do attitude". I had to decide on colors for the main and accent walls. It was a tough choice to make! After sending photos & giving him a sense of gray colors I liked, he brought back spot-on colors. The work was done in Oct 2022 & I'm super happy with the results! Also, they left me touch-up paint that actually matched exactly. No more stress from the builder's colors. The painters were quiet & gentle with moving our belongings. They didn't bother me at all during the 2 weeks they painted here which can be an uncomfortable thing when contractors are in your home for that long. We had to do touch-ups that I didn't have the touch-up colors for. It was a paint drip spot on a closet door in my son's room & two cabinet doors on our island. They were able to color match really well. I was so impressed. The other 4 companies I spoke with were not that confident about those areas. Brian mentioned how they experiment with different paints to see what they are most satisfied with. I can tell they have pride in their work and they are decisive with the products they chose. My wife and I recently purchased a home in Novato, which needed a bit of work. The cabinets were in excellent condition, but were a bit outdated (wood color), so we were looking to get them painted white in order to make the home look a bit more modern. I've done a lot of home renovation projects during my decade of owning Bay Area houses and Paintmasters was my favorite company I've worked with on any large-scale project! The scope of the project was to completely re-texture the walls in my 1200 sq feet Walnut Creek home (transitioning from an ugly "orange peel" to "smooth") and then paint everything including walls, ceilings, doors and trims. I called a lot of companies on yelp and really struggled to find anyone competent both in retexturing and painting. Painting was relatively easy to find but the companies that specialized in retexturing seemed unsure of their ability to handle the scale of an entire house rather just a few walls or a room. An added challenge was that I knew from prior similar projects that retexturing and painting the interior of a home turns the house into an unlivable construction zone so picking two separate companies to do texturing and painting would make the timeline harder to coordinate and I'd be out of my home longer. I really wanted a super competent company who could handle it all for me and get it done as quickly as possible and that's where Paintmasters stepped in and really shined. I had 5 companies come to quote the project who had all said on the phone that they could handle it but upon arrival, only 3 companies felt they could do the job. When I first met Brian from Paintmasters, he immediately set me at ease. He listened to the struggles and concerns I'd had from previous painting/texturing projects gone wrong, and explained in detail the ways Paintmasters would prevent those problems and make this a streamlined experience. In the end, the Paintmasters price came in the middle of the 3 price quotes I'd received but I decided to pick them over a cheaper alternative because of Brian's excellent customer service and the promises he made (that he kept!). One other thing that set Paintmasters apart was their commitment to include a high-end process for painting the interior doors throughout my home. They removed the doors and took them to their shop where they had a machine evenly spray both sides. This made all the difference in how amazing they look! So much better than if they'd brushed, rolled, or hand-sprayed them on-site like all the other companies planned to do. The first phase of the project was the retexturing which was done by Gonzalo and Abraham, who were both very professional and hard-working. They had a whole team of guys who were there every day (sometimes even weekends) to get the drywall done as quickly as possible and it was really amazing how quickly they went! The second phase of the project was painting which was done by Chris, the foreman, and his team of painters. Chris was a great guy and so easy and nice to work with. He drove his team to paint every corner of my house with total precision and care. I visited the house daily and checked in with Chris for feedback and he was so accommodating of my requests. He responded to every nitpick I had with a smile and a great attitude which was so appreciated! A third phase was that I'd forgotten some of my closet doorways were damaged when I'd first bought the house and Brian was nice enough to offer a solution to repair them for a reasonable price. He brought in his carpenter, Roberto, who was able to install all-new casings for a couple doors which made them look brand new, all without delaying the overall project completion! Throughout all phases of the project, Brian managed every little thing every day with ease. For over a month, he kept in contact with me daily, was so responsive to my requests, and was always just a text message away for any questions. He made the project easy, which was like night-and-day with the previous contractor I'd worked with for a similar project in San Jose. Brian had committed the project would take 5 weeks, but I ended up able to move back in a little over 4 weeks which made my family so happy! Look out for hidden fees- nearly two months after the completion of our project, I'm just now receiving an additional bill for hinges. This fee was not included in my original quote, was never discussed verbally, and as the representative in contact with me for the project consistently called the installer "our carpenter" I was led to believe this was their employee and part of the overall project. I couldn't be happier with Paintmasters! They were pros from beginning to end. First of all, I did my homework online and got 3 bids from licensed contractors (on Yelp) for our exterior house painting. Paintmasters was mid-priced (not the lowest or the highest), but what sold me was Bryan's expertise and attention to detail. He clearly has the experience and the knowledge to address any issue and keep things on track from beginning to end. He told me that he would be the project manager for the job, and he came through with several visits while the work was in progress. He was always available and responsive to my questions. The crew was amazing! They were unbelievably fast and thorough, from prep to body work and trim, and finally the touch-up. Eddie Gomez, the lead painter, was friendly and always helpful whenever I had a question. I felt completely comfortable with all of the workers. They were on-time, they cleaned up after every day's work, and they were careful with the landscaping. We did the landscape prep work & trimmed everything away from the house before they arrived, so everything was ready to go. We also took down most of our security cams & solar chargers. Bryan was happy to have their guys do it, but we are hands-on homeowners and wanted to manage our tech equipment. Our project required dry rot repair in several places on the siding, under the eaves, and along the roofline flashing. Roberto Varela, the construction contractor who works in tandem with Paintmasters, was an absolute pro, and fast! Bryan coordinated the repair work with Roberto and stayed within the agreed upon schedule. Mid-job, we added the installation of new downspouts because most of our old ones were deteriorating, which involved hiring a separate roofing contractor in a hurry to coordinate with the painters. The following week, we had painters, construction & downspout installation going all at once for one day. The painters & the construction crews were flexible and accommodating, and the work continued without a hitch. As a side note, go ahead and pay for the porta potty. It's an extra, but it makes things easier, overall. I can't say enough good things about Paintmasters. David (the owner), Eddie, Roberto and Bryan were a seamless team, professionals all the way, and they each went above and beyond what was required to complete our project with personal attention and a genuine willingness to help. I'm a fairly frugal person. It is hard for me to pay for something that I feel like "anybody can do". I'm glad I did not listen to my feelings with painting our home because Paintmasters did a phenomenal job. We had the opportunity to work with Brian as a consultant and eventual project manager. From the time we first reached out (and got a prompt response on Yelp) through completion of project, everyone we worked with was friendly, professional and detail oriented. Brian was an outstanding project manager - knowledgable, responsive, and provided updates every step of the way. The crew, including Beto, Jeff and Juan, is very skilled and did a great job. Beto, who was the lead on our project, is skilled not only at interior painting but also at drywall repair, cabinet painting, and trim installation, which was a huge value add not to have to hire another company for those services. We also had positive interactions with Dave, the owner, and with Eloise and Sarah, who manage the office. Dave's brother, Dan, refaces cabinets through Cabinetmasters, a sister company to Paintmasters. We decided to reface our old cabinets with new shaker doors and replace all the drawer mechanisms with new soft close glides, so they look and feel like new. Paintmasters coordinated the project well with Cabinetmasters to make the process seamless. They were able to install the new drawers and paint the cabinets while we were out of town to minimize disruption. The team was receptive to feedback along the way, and did a final walkthrough and touch ups at the end to make sure everything was completed to perfection. He was personable, very knowledgeable, and did an excellent job explaining what his crew does (and does not do) to ensure their customers get the highest quality paint job. He also provided us with an excellent color consultation, that resulted in a color combo that goes perfectly with our countertop. Eloise did a great job with scheduling, and once the job started, Brian provided text updates each evening recapping that day's progress, and letting us know what would be done the following day. I hired Paintmasters last month to repaint the entire interior (walls, ceiling, and closets) and most of the exterior of our four-bedroom home over a two-week period. I picked them on Yelp because it appeared that they had nearly 100% 5-star ratings from over 100 reviews. I was initially concerned that this might be due to bogus reviews, but discovered within the first day of their work that my worries were unwarranted. Their staff truly are "paint masters"! Brian, their estimator, first came to our home to look over the scope of the project as I initially proposed it. He pointed out other areas of the house that would need extra attention to make it look like new, and I agreed. He also suggested the color, texture, and finish of paint for each area of the house to maximize its durability, cleanability, and longevity. The initial estimate was a bit high, I thought, and I asked Brian if he could give me a discount as a senior and military veteran. He and the company owner, David, gave me a generous 5% discount, and I then agreed to contract with them for the work. On the first day of work, the painters arrived promptly, put on shoe covers to protect our newly-installed laminate floors, and began their preparation of surfaces for painting. They were meticulous in protecting all surfaces and covering up our furnishings to ensure only the surfaces that needed painting would be painted. They worked quickly and efficiently, and were very friendly and amenable to my wife's and my questions and requests. They cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each day so we could live in our home with minimal disruption. I was so impressed with the caliber and attention to detail of their painters that at the end of the day I called Brian and told him to remove the discount they had given us. As a phrase in the Bible says, "A workman is worth his wages." My wife and I agreed that Paintmasters' painters deserved to be paid the full amount of the original estimate. Their expert work over the following two weeks confirmed our assessment. The painters took all the interior doors to their shop to have them spray painted just as one might paint an automobile. The result is beautiful: immaculate, smooth finishes without any paint streaks or blemishes. Painters who were skilled in drywall repair were called in to address cracks and unevenness in the wall texture. A carpenter was called in to replace dry-rotten wood fascia and window frames on the house exterior before being painted. Brian or David would either visit our home or call me each day to see how work was progressing and if I was satisfied or had any questions or additional work requests. Throughout the two-week period, communication was kept to to a high level between my wife and I and the painters. The end result is immaculate. Our 45-year old home now looks and feels like a brand new house, and we are extremely pleased and happy with the results. He was super considerate of our home and kept / ran a very clean job site both during the work as well as in leaving it each night for the next day's work. He and crews Ramiro, Irwin and Victor were diligent in their work and pointed out areas that they planned to touch up or if there were any spots I saw that I was not pleased with and would would like him to address.
