I am overdue for writing this review on our laundry room and small bath remodel that was completed nearly a year ago. Our laundry room was a DIY remodel by the former, former owners. The small bathroom inside the laundry room was a quarter-bath (toilet only - no sink!) and totally grossed me out. People had to leave the toilet room and walk out into the laundry room to wash their hands. Joe's plumber re-routed plumbing and we added a small sink to the quarter-bath, officially making it a half-bath! We loved working with Joe and his crew. Great experience. They were fast and provided quality work. If there was a small problem, they were quick to correct it and never complained - the exact type of contractors you want working for you! His tile guy was very thorough and did an amazing job leveling our floor and laying our patterned tile. And of course, the quality of Joe's cabinets is 5 star. We had our kitchen remodeled the year before by a different contractor and different cabinet company. They are shaker-style cabinets that started cracking within just a few months with the paint separating on the inside of the shaker design. But Joe's cabinets, nearly a year later, still look brand new! No cracking or separating on the shaker design. Nearly a year later, and I still love our laundry room and I'm happy we did it. We added several new cabinets. The design was great and the installation was smooth. A better test of their skill was the retrofit of 3 cabinets in the kitchen to hold the microwave and pot storage. I found Henley's on Yelp after another cabinet company promised to build the upper portion of my custom entertainment cabinet and then bailed out 2 weeks before a major party we were hosting in our home. After talking with Joe, he came out to my house to take measurements and we talked design and my ideas for the job. Where as the other cabinet maker was intimated by the scope of the project, Joe broke it down into manageable pieces and assembled it on site. He went out of his way to build custom grills where I removed underutilized drawers to increase airflow to the stereo components inside the cabinet. He also made the executive decision to build all new doors on the lower existing cabinet so the entire unit would look uniform and cohesive. His price was reasonable as he literally breathed new life into an existing cabinet that I had bastardized years before as a bachelor looking for a place to hang my big TV. And if you're wondering, yes, he was able to knock it out in 13 days! We had our entertainment cabinet in place in time for our party. Joe literally saved the day! Not only were the cabinets of excellent quality, but the one thing that stands out most of all is their willingness to accommodate and do whatever it takes to make us happy. Last year we moved to the East Bay from New York in order to be closer to our kids and grandkids who live in SF. We purchased a house in the foothills of Mt. Diablo, however it needed a new upgraded and updated kitchen. Having construction experience I knew that when you do a full gut and rebuild that it is best to use a local cabinet manufacturer since there are always site changes and modifications that need to be done. So I went on line and came up with 3 different local cabinetmakers and met with each. The first one I met was Joe Henley and his son in law Dave of Henley Custom Cabinets located in Concord and as it turned out I immediately felt a connection. After working with my wife and myself on a plan his crew went into action demolishing the old cabinets, relocation the plumbing in order to accommodate the oversized sink in the new (9'x5') island, modified the electrical circuitry and installed high efficiency LED lights in the ceiling.
