My house was long overdue for new exterior paint, and there were definite signs of peeling paint and dry rot especially along the side and back of house. I used the Yelp app and met with 4 painters. One was booked until Nov, one declined the bid since he was paint only and limited carpentry, one gave a really high bid, and then there was Felix who we eventually chose. Felix was perhaps the most transparent in terms of work scope and he took the time to measure and estimate how much wood and siding would be needed. He also has teams of both carpenters and painters so he does dry rot repair and painting. They also use ladders with fall protection for the high places, as opposed to scaffolds which would of course add more cost. The whole job took 2 weeks - 4 days of prep, and 3 days of painting using mostly sprays and hand painting of siding. Very professional job and 5 stars: 1. Daily communications by text and updates 2. Thorough covering of windows and doors 3. Clean work area after each day 4. Extra credit for getting rid of loose wiring, the previous owner's dish, and fixing a broken gate 5. Honest and transparent pricing - we had a change order since during prep, more dry rot was found than at first glance. Reason for selecting Felix's painting: I got couple walls to paint in my house and I got quotes from multiple contractors. I selected Felix because of the details of the quote that includes the prep work, paint used, number of coats applied and the warranty. They are also licensed and insured. This company painted my home a few years ago. Felix came out for the estimate and was very helpful, thorough, and knowledgeable. We initially felt confident hiring him because he took the time to explain the scope of work in detail. Unfortunately, the actual work did not meet expectations. It seemed like the crew may have been stretched across multiple jobs, and I overheard a conversation in Spanish that two of the workers were hired "just for this job." That gave me some concern about the consistency and experience of the team assigned to our project. Several areas were also missed, including baseboards and doors. Since the colors were both white, it seemed like they may have assumed we would not notice. Felix did come by a few times to check on the project, but the interactions felt uncomfortable. When I pointed things out, it often seemed like he thought I was asking for extra work rather than asking for the original scope to be completed properly. The most disappointing issue was that paint was poured into our landscaping, which ended up killing two trees. Overall, Felix was great during the estimate process, but the execution and care during the project were not what we expected. read more

I did not choose Felix's painting for my home project, it was chosen by my HoA for our townhouse complex. On the first day they were prepping for work in the morning and I asked them if my 2 plants on my porch needed to be moved and they assured me they we're fine where they were. After they started work this week I've come home to both of my plants being moved carelessly into my front yard and both were damaged by being moved. I would have moved them myself if I had known but they told me they were okay where they were. If you have any property you care about, you'll find a better value elsewhere. Edit: Posting a notice I've already read as a reply isn't terribly helpful. My plants were more than 3 feet from exterior walls, they were near pillars, which weren't mentioned specifically, which is why I made sure I was there on the first morning of work to clarify with the people doing the work whether they would need to be moved or not. read more
