I called this number and set up an appointment time to get an estimate for my roof. During the 2 hour window, Ireceived a text saying "Hi Nicole it's Steven from my way roofing , I am 10 mins away ." That was a little confusing since I thought it was California Roof Savers. When he arrived, it was awkward then I explained that I got a letter from my insurance that wanted us to check if out roof needed to be replaced. He asked me which part and I told him they said the shingles look good but the flat looks like there might be a problem. I told him I was looking for an assessment. He seems uptight and condescending. He was yelling down to me from my roof. He asked if I had leaks and I said no. He proceeded to tell me I have to have leaks and I'm probably just not seeing it. His demeanor came off rude. I asked him again for an estimate so he said he'll measure. I again yelled something from my roof so I didn't hear him. Asked me if I wanted him to look at anything else before he came back down and I said no. Once he got back down, I asked the estimate again since I did not hear him and he kind of shrugged me off and gave me the estimate. The whole interinteraction lasted maybe 10 minutes and I was not comfortable with the exchange. I just wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude to Kevin Curry and California Roof Savers. I found them by poking around Google and Yelp and reading their reviews. I did some research on them and their process, and was impressed by their approach to rescuing homeowners' roofs. The concept of "restoration" as opposed to replacement is very kind to the budget. Kevin was very prompt and informative over the phone, and quickly answered all of my many inquisitive e-mails.. He left me with absolutely no doubt that they would be getting our business. We were stressing out over the predicted record-setting El Nino this year, as we had major leaks pretty much everywhere and were expecting major repairs. While other companies could easily have gouged us for repairs that were not necessary (since we were available to watch their every move), CRS only replaced the one sheet of plywood that really needed it, along with about 15 feet of fascia. Considering the amount of leakage we had, I expected much worse. Kevin's crew only took 6 1/2 days for the whole job (2,300 square feet). It may have been a day or so shorter, but the crew was up there in 103+ heat, so they worked slightly shorter days, which was completely understandable and acceptable. We went with the "Cool Roof" system, as the benefits are well-documented by many university and laboratory tests, and the extra cost is surprisingly minimal (I even had to verify with Kevin the quoted price was for the total, not the "upcharge") I would also highly recommend the O'Hagin vents (if they will work in your application) as their low-profile renders them nearly invisible and they are very reasonably priced. I found California Roof Savers on Yelp because of their mostly positive reviews. Therefore I called the company to come give me a quote on roof repair a couple of weeks ago. They came out, inspected the roof and gave me a verbal quote for $650. I accepted it on the spot and shook hands with him. However, a few days later I received a written quote and it became $750. I called to ask why and they said they made a mistake. I told them I was not happy with the practice and want to get second opinion. Another company came in at $1000 so I called Roof Savers to give them the job. This time they refused to honor their written quote of $750, even after I offered $800 they still refused. After talking with Nick, we determined that a new roof was not needed and that by cleaning and coating the roof surface we would be able to add another 10-20 years of life before needing replacement. We chose Nutech NXT Cool Zone as the coating system and Nick's team actually came out over the weekend and got it done at the price quoted and on time. The result is a dramatic improvement in appearance and also protection for our house. I was especially impressed that Nick was able to find and repair a leak in my roof prior to performing the refinishing work, and that he and his team took a great deal of care to clean everything up throughout the process and before they left. So if you need "X" amount sqft of tile work it cost "x" much. Need fascia replaced due to rot, simple it's "X" amount per foot. Great upfront no bull pricing. Unlike the other bids where the amount would start at 4500 then amazingly drop to 3500 at your first, you've got to be kidding me comment. This is not the discount un licensed roofing company you'll never hear from again. This is the great job done at a more than fair price company. Not just a big round number and it being unclear of what really is going to happen. When the working crew arrived, "within 4 days of the bid and on time" They had all the photo's Kevin had taken before with notes on exactly what to do on the roof. They all were clean cut, wore uniformed shirts, took great care while working, played no music, just focused on where they needed to work and moved along at a very good pace, not in a hurry but no messing around. This review is based upon my interactions to date with the intention of updating this review once the work has been completed. My experience with CA Roof Savers has been very positive, thus far. I was looking to get some quotes for a lift and relay. I called about 7 companies. One Company answered the phone and asked if they could call me back in 30 minutes. I actually waited till the next day and never heard back from them; I waited a few more days and then try to reach them again by phone. Apparently, there was some issue because their voicemail was completely full and I never heard back from them again. Another company said they were booked for three months, but would come out and give me a quote "on Tuesday afternoon about 2pm". They never showed up and never called, as was the case with several other roofers I had called (I had left numerous voicemails and email messages and heard nothing). CA Roof Savers immediately gained my respect, as they called back in a few minutes. I spoke with a kind lady who told me she would forward my information to the roofer. To tell the truth, because of my experience up to that point, I wasn't expecting to get a phone call back; however, Nick called me in just a few minutes. I explained to him what I was looking to have done, and he immediately was all to give me a per sq ft cost estimate (for 3 different options) along with the approximate square footage of my roof. After talking with my husband, I called Nick back to get some more clarification. He was very patient and again explained the different options to me. Eventually, my husband and I decided to move ahead with CA Roof Savers largely due to their attentiveness, even calling to follow up to ensure our job wouldn't be scheduled too far out. We just completed a re-roof with California Roof Savers and couldn't be happier! The finished work looks better than the roof has ever looked in our 25+ years in the house. When I first called, I appreciated the years of experience specializing in re-roofs, the fact that I could get an initial rough estimate over the phone for the purposes of price comparison, and Kevin's skill at explaining what this company does that others often do not. I especially appreciated the fact that there was a lot of attention paid to termite damage and the health of the wood in the eaves. No one else I contacted mentioned the importance of the existing wood, but having had termite damage in the past, this resonated with me immediately. During the almost two weeks required for the project, the crew was consistently friendly, professional and very hard working. They left the premises clean and tidy at the end of every day. Most importantly, we received frequent updates from the project manager on wood replacement and repair, and they also kept us up-to-date and better educated regarding all of the work that was being done and what changes were being made to improve future drainage, etc. We understood and approved in advance all costs related to the project - no surprises at the end! A new roof, or in our case a re-roof, is such an expensive undertaking, that it is hard to enjoy. I can honestly say that the quality of work and commitment to doing it right has made me feel much better about making the investment. I had a new metal shingle roof by Dura-Loc installed 14 years ago. These shingles have become a nightmare for everyone. They were advertised with a 50 year warranty. Within 8 years the coating and ceramic granules were failing and falling off. Each time it rained this year I could scoop up about 4 cups of granules off of the ground. With a quick search you can see everyone is dealing with this problem. The manufacture went bankrupt and no longer exists. I called another metal roof manufacture and asked to talk to one of their engineers. He highly recommended Nick and the NXT Cool Zone with granules. I went with Nick and couldn't be happier. He communicated very well at all times of the day. Text, phone, email. 10+ pictures because I couldn't make up my mind on the color. He was very patient. It was a 3 day process of cleaning, priming, and 2 coats. They use plastic sheeting, masked off the roof and rain gutters and made sure their was no overspray. Last summer California Roof Savers worked on the roof of a neighbors house. They seemed courteous, hard working and left their yard clean every day. They were there for a couple of weeks and the finished product was beautiful (yes a roof can be beautiful). This spring we experienced leaks and knew our 30 year old roof needed work. So we asked our neighbors how they liked CA Roof Savers and if they'd recommend them. They said YES and gave me the # (so please count this review as 2 positives for this company). Kevin was easily reached on the phone and was right on time for our estimate. I liked that I was dealing directly with the owner of the company and my wary dog accepted him right away (make that 3 positive recommendations). The price was not cheap. It was a few thousand dollars less than I expected I'd pay though. The great thing about their Cool Roof System is that they only have to replace the tiles that are broken. So they reuse most of the tiles. We didn't really like the color of our roof and with their restoration of the old tiles, they paint them with a UV protective paint (guaranteed not to fade) giving us the option to change the color and the look of our home. They also replaced rotten fascia boards. The five guys that came to work were employees of CA Roof Savers (no day laborers). They were friendly and worked really hard every day. The job finished right on time and it looks great! With the Cool Roof System we expect our attic to stay cooler this summer therefore keeping the house cooler and lowering that AC bill. Very professional and honest! I called and left a message about having some roof tiles repaired. (My solar panel company had asked me to have this done before they installed my panels.) I had been given estimates by 2 other companies and was looking for a third estimate. Kevin returned my call and explained that lightweight concrete tiles like mine were extremely fragile and easily broken during the solar panel installation. Apparently, his compnay does solar panel prep work quite often and he esplained that they usually replace the concrete tiles with composite shingles in the areas where the panels are to be installed. They then fill the roof back in with the concrete tiles so it looks like a custom job. Kevin asked me what I was going to do when the installers broke several more tiles during the installation. I had no answer. I called the solar company and asked them. They came out, reinspected the roof, and determined that the tiles under where the panels were going to be needed to be completely replaced - just like Kevin described! My compliments go to Kevin who could have easily come out and charged me $400 to replace a few tiles, but who instead, took his time (for free!) to explain the best course of action. Clearly, he is honest and values his customers, and he knows what he's talking about when it comes to solar panel prep. My solar panel company did exactly what he described (at no charge to me) and my roof is beautiful. I will definitely be contacting Kevin and California Roof Savers first when it comes to our next roofing project. read more

Prior to my wife and I purchasing a new home we had a home inspection done. We were told by the home inspector that there were 20-30 broken tiles on the roof, located in various places around the roof. He suggested getting the broken tiles replaced. I called California Roof Savers and scheduled a time for them to do an inspection so I could get an accurate quote. Chris came out, and I told him what the inspector had said. I explained I would have the work done in October because I was having a roof mounted pool solar heating system installed, and then we would be out of town for a few weeks. He went up on the roof and took pictures. He initially suggested taking all the tile down on one side, laying new roof paper underneath, and relaying the tile at an expense of $5000. I informed him I only wanted to replace the cracked tiles. He relented, and sent me a quote by email within a couple days. The price for the work was quoted as $1195. Upon return to our home I called Chris to have the work scheduled and he informed that there would be a 15% increase. When I asked why he simply stated their prices had increased. I asked again if he would still honor the original quote and he said no I had received the quote from him on August 10th, and called him on October 9th, a difference of 60 days. The 15% increase would be an additional $179.25, bring the price up to $1374.25. I have decided to take my business elsewhere. read more

During heavy rains I had a major leak in my kitchen. I also had a drainage problem for the flat roof over my garage. Kevin examined my roof. He took photos. He told me why I was having the leak and drainage problem. He told me what he would do to make repairs. He also recommended work in areas that were not giving immediate problems to prevent problems in the future. He gave me an estimate specifying exactly what repairs had to be done and what each would cost. Jose, the repair crew head, showed me the pictures Kevin had taken along with specific notes Kevin made. Jose told me exactly what would be done step by step. The work was done efficiently and cleanly. The team cleaned up as they progressed through the job. Before leaving, Jose described precisely what his crew did. He showed me before and after pictures of every area where repairs were made. He explained many aspects of roofs that were very informative. He told me that he found a source of a leak that was not listed in the estimate and repaired it. Jose also told me that he tells his crew that when they examine their work, they should take the viewpoint of the home owner, and that they should only be satisfied with their work when they would consider it to be a top-rate repair on their own home. Jose was an efficient, personable and informative on-site leader with very high standards. Kevin called the day after the job was completed and asked me if I was satisfied and if I had any questions. I told him I was perfectly satisfied. He told me that I should inspect the roof in a day (after the materials had time to set and dry) so that I could examine what was done and to contact him if I saw any problem. In contrast, Kevin was very honest and patient, and he took the time to explain to me what he thought the issue was and how to properly fix it. Chris at California Roof Savers, in contrast, worked hard to fit our job in--we were selling a house and on a very tight time frame. They did the roof three days after we called them! The new Nutech silicone roof covering gorgeous! Sparkling white and heat reflective. I had no idea our old flat roof could be so beautiful. They gave us a 3-year leak warranty and certified our roof as "structurally sound." All this for a surprisingly affordable price. They were a dream come true, truly.
