In short, the reason why I gave this company 1 star was because their sales tactics are dishonest and rude. CAUTION: Read your work order. They will tell you one thing verbally that they can do and then write something completely different on the form you sign so they are not held responsible.
Scheduling the Service:
When I called to explain my situation and why I wanted my carpets cleaned, one of the owners I spoke with was kind, helpful and informative. I called them before I even purchased the Groupon. After speaking with him and reading reviews I decided to move forward.
Arrival of the technician:
The gentleman that arrived at our home was very kind. He arrived early in the morning as we were getting my son off to school and to the bus stop. We walked through every room of my house and he pointed out multiple spots that had urine from our small dog with this black light. The group I purchased covered a standard clean of our carpets but nothing that would treat pet urine. The gentleman said that if I chose not to upgrade my service, my house would smell like urine when he was done. This service was an additional $199. We opted into the service becuase we have a new baby on the way and figured it was time for a good cleaning.
Signing the service contract:
I was handed a slip of paper that listed the $199 and that we had a group on as well as some notes. My BIGGEST mistake is that I did not read the notes that were written. When he asked me to sign he said, "Go ahead and sign acknowledging that we are adding the additional service today." That was it. Unfortunately, he wrote far more than that, but I trusted him and didn't read it thoroughly.
Completion of the job:
It took this gentleman a total of 90 minutes to clean and treat 2300 square feet. I was surprised that the additional $200 I paid didn't add to the length of time for the cleaning. It was still a bit smelly in the house but I opened all the windows and left on the fans and headed to work.
Aftermath:
When we got home from work, the urine smell was strong. I was truly surprised. It was what I imagined had I not paid the additional 200 to treat my urine stained carpets. Additionally, the technician managed to throw a large office chair in one of our bathrooms and scratched up the door and ripped the fabric on the arm of the chair. This really made me question how quickly and haphazardly he cleaned our carpets.
Follow Up:
I gave the smell two days. I vacuumed the carpet as their website suggested but I was still unimpressed. I spoke to a very kind person on Friday explaining the situation. She offered to have someone come back out to my house to reclean the carpet to try and remove the smell. Unfortunately, I am expecting in a couple weeks, work full time, and can't take any more time off to make sure our furniture stays in good condition while they re-treat the spots. She mentioned she would review the work order contract and get back to me on Monday.
Speaking with the owner:
I had a voicemail on my phone on Sunday night that I was unable to return. I followed up on Monday morning at 8 am and never heard back. I had to call him again on Wednesday afternoon to reach him. I could tell immediately he wasn't going to listen to me. He must have been burned by customers in the past trying to rip him off, but he was so aggressive. He made comments like, "It's not my fault your dog pees on your carpet." "You are just trying to not pay for your service." He was defensive from the beginning. He mentioned to me well you should read your work order and you would see that you are being ridiculous.
When I got home I read the work order and cried. I had been completely taken advantage of by eco clean. They wrote on the work order, their is an excessive amount of urine, we can attempt a LV 1 treatment for the urine but can make no garuntees their will be improvement.
I was shocked. What was written on my work order didn't resemble ANYTHING the technician mentioned to me. The team at eco clean has obviously been trained to get the sale and then cover your ass on the work order. I felt gross and taken advantage of. Especially after how one of the owners spoke to me. I never have spent additional money over a groupon before but they really sold me. I am humiliated.
Lastly, to be fair I was offered by the owner to have them come back out and re-treat my carpet. It is no longer about I don't have time for that, but I no longer want this company in my home. I would not feel safe. read more
