They conducted an inspection report and informed me that everything was fine, except for my lower control arms, which I was already aware of.
Shortly after this visit, I went on vacation and parked my car at a friend's house. When I returned on September 23, 2026, and drove home that night, I noticed an engine coolant alert and a drivetrain alert on my dashboard, which had never occurred before. I called Wise Car Care to express my concerns, and they scheduled an appointment for me to see the issue on September 25, 2026.
My appointment was at 11 am, but my car didn't go into the garage until around 1 pm. Around 2:30 pm, I was informed that my vehicle would be ready soon. The inspection report on September 25 indicated that I had oil leaks and needed a valve gasket cover repair, which the receptionist mentioned would be quite expensive. This news was concerning because the issues were not mentioned during my initial report on September 14, 2026. It seemed unlikely that oil leaks would be overlooked during an oil change.
Shortly after this visit, my engine light came on, so I took my vehicle to Auto Zone for a diagnostic check. The results showed that the thermostat needed to be replaced. I took my vehicle to my trusted family mechanic on October 7, 2026, to address this issue and conduct his own inspection of my vehicle, without mentioning the report from Wise Car Care on September 25.
The mechanic identified only three necessary components to fix my check engine light: replacing the thermostat, adding more coolant, and fixing a hose leak in my radiator. He did not notice any issues with my valve gasket cover. I received my car back on October 9, 2026, and have had no further problems with it since.
It's disheartening to think that Wise Car Care's assessment might have been inaccurate, potentially leading me to pay more than necessary for repairs that arose after my initial oil change visit with them. Alternatively, they may have seen this as an opportunity to increase their revenue. Regardless of the reason, I will not be returning to Wise Car Care for any car maintenance in the future.
