Stopped in here for a beer while I waited for a meeting to start down the road. There was a large group in the corner and a couple of traveling salesmen at the bar. I sat at the bar and was given the menus. The bartender seemed to be dressed in workout attire, don't know if that is the theme as I noticed other employees dressed similarly. I ordered the Imperial Stout, great option from Sierra Blanca, and asked to keep the food menu so I could review it bit. She took both menus and when I asked for a food menu again, she gave me a dirty look. She then proceeded to go back to eating her peanut butter from ta jar in the bar area. Maybe because I am not a regular or because I was alone, I was treated poorly, whatever the case, it will take me a while to give this place another go. The beer is priced well and the location is nice, there just needs to be an attitude adjustment with the staff. read more

Didn't have any food, however, beer was great AND CHEAP! Tuesday is half off so that was a plus. The bartender Jess was very friendly and a group of older gents were there singing. Pretty awesome night! read more

Sad to say this was the worst dining experience I have had in a while. When we arrived the staff was completely inattentive and rude. After waiting a few minutes for a host to sit us, it became clear that no host or server was going to welcome us. We decided to take a seat at the half empty bar. Bartender took another 5 minutes to get us menus or even acknowledge us. Another 10 minutes for drink orders. And then another 10 to take our food orders....did I mention this place was more than half empty and fully staffed? Wait times like that would be understandable if it were busy and the wait staff were slammed, but they were not. The food was.....for lack of a better word...terrible. My steak (ordered medium rare) came out rare. Like cold in the middle rare. The first few bites were primarily fat and nearly inedible. The baked potato tasted like it had been sitting in the oven for days. At this point I had completely lost my appetite. Now to the one shining positive. One employee (not the bartender/server that had been waiting on us) asked how our food was. After explaining to him my complaints he offered to fix the problem or get my anything else on the menu. I had lost my appetite at this point. But his sincere efforts were greatly appreciated. Hate to give bad reviews. I really do. But this place did everything to deserve it. read more

Co-workers and I went for lunch. If you're hungry on a Tuesday or Thursday, go for the lunch special. $5 burger and 1/2 beer. I spent a total $7.60 for a 1/3 pound burger, salad (or fries) and a Monk's Ale. This is the best priced lunch in town. The burger was quality and perfectly cooked (medium-rare). The salad was really fresh with a lime-something salad dressing. The beer was delicious, which I already knew. It all tastes much better with that price. The waitress was spot on, and then some. The TV's had ESPN and the atmosphere was very clean. read more

I stopped in Albuquerque while driving across country and was pretty excited that my hotel was near the brew pub. The place was small and packed but we managed to get a table right away. We got pretty good service too. I don't remember exactly what we ate, but I remember leaving pretty satisfied by our selections. The beer selection were pretty good and I got a flight. I liked everything I tried even the green chili pepper beer which was surprisingly good. Overall it was a pretty solid brew pub however none of the beers were quite good enough for me to get a growler to go. They need to step up their ABV levels. read more

Badly want to give them a 5 stars because the food was pretty good and the beer selection was great. However, the service both on the phone and upon arrival was sub-par. Called two weeks prior to ask if they would take a reservation for a table of 9 for a surprise birthday dinner and drinks outing. I was given the run around that they could not accommodate anything after 8:00 which was a disappointment, but I scheduled a table for 9 at 7:30. The group arrived 15 minutes prior and was told the table would not be ready for 45 minutes. Seriously? They sent the group next door to the stinky, dingy Uptown Sports Bar. When I arrived with the "birthday" person I walked over to ABQ Brew Pub and inquired about the reservation. I was told the table we were supposed to get had 4 people sitting on a 15+ seating area and they had been sitting there for 4 hours. They said if we wanted to sit down, we could, which I gladly accepted and brought the group over. There were still at least 2 chairs between us and the other 4 people at the big seating area. Shortly after we sat down the other group left. The simple resolution here would be to give our group the option to sit down upon arrival and or kindly ask the other group to move to the bar or another smaller open table, offer them a free drink and explain they have a large reservation. They had obviously been done for quite some time and just chatting. The most disappointing part is that the group could have sat down right away (that's why we made a reservations) and not spend 30 minutes sitting at Uptown. To me this is poor management. The food, like I said, was good. The fish tacos were excellent. The veggie burgers were thick and juicy. The fish and chips were plentiful. All parties report their meals were good. Great beer selection too! Good place for casual dinner and drinks, just don't try to bring a bigger group there on any weekend night. read more

A very sleek and well-designed place with somewhat of a corporate feel to it. Maybe it's the beer coolers on the bartop where you can place your beer and have it chilled. Anyhow, all the beer here is from Sierra Blanca out of Moriarty and Monk's from Abiquiu, which certainly appeals to the locavores and those who like the more gimmicky of New Mexico beers (I'm looking at you green chile beer). I like the Monk's beers, but wouldn't necessarily go to a bar for them and I've yet to be impressed by any of the Sierra Blanca beers, even the GABF-winning Nut Brown, so I can't see myself coming here very often if ever, and even when I do come, I'd surely expect to be bored by the beer selection after my first beer. As for the food, I can't speak much on it because I only tried the bacon-wrapped dates, but they were as delicious as you'd expect anything wrapped in bacon to be. Overall, this place is not the place people should be going to taste New Mexico's best beers, but I guess it's really convenient for all those I-40 drivers looking for a place just off the highway. read more

I've been here twice in the last six months. The first time the bartender was a little rude and the taps were not working. I went a second time Saturday and it was the same cold waitress but the taps were working. I got an alien wheat but it wasn't anything special. I probably won't go back it's a cool concept but the atmosphere sucks. The staff was complaining every time a customer would call to place an order. I think that's really crappy considering the customers are how this all makes money. read more

We had high hopes for this place. My husband was excited to try their brews. He ordered a flight. Most of them tasted like turpentine. He landed up ordering a margarita. We arrived at about 4pm on Friday and it was not busy, but service was slow. On a positive note, their signature burger was pretty good. Appetizers---fried cheese wedges and mushrooms-- were good. Overall, I don't expect to be back any time soon. We left and tried the sports bar next door (same owners---I'm guessing since they serve many of the same food items). The atmosphere, service, and drinks were much better read more

Talk about a green chile burger! Its not a surprise that ABQ Pub won the Best Burger contest in Albuquerque. It had been a long time since I had a burger that was tasty! I think this was the best meal I had while I visited NM. The menu of course has a pub food, wings, burgers, sandwiches, cheesesticks, and all of the other stuff Pub's usually had. I don't like beer but I'm sure they had a good amount. In a nut-shell: -reasonable prices -good food -large portions -lots of seating space -lots of parking space -friendly service Defiantly a place that is worth trying, and let me just say that the green chili burger and the fries are worth every single calorie! read more

Skip it entirely. They no longer brew their own beers and the staff is incompetent. Sitting on the patio is a definite way to get ignored by the wait staff. The place has gone down hill since the" rebranding". read more

WHO DOESNT LIKE ALIENS AND SPACE. I personally think this is one of the most unique bars in ABQ. And food is amazing. Greasy but good. Some* servers are not very attentive, but I've never had any issues with the bartenders. I love the stout, and the margaritas are super good. My friends and I frequent this spot because of the chill atmosphere. read more

This place is great. The layout is somewhat cabin themed on the inside. The place isn't too big, but that's fine. They serve several microbrews. They also have a sampler which is always a great help. The waitress was friendly and knowledgeable on the selection of beers. They had a Green Chili Beer which was interesting, but I'll stick to a lager. We originally came here, because we heard that it had recently won best green chili cheeseburger at the state fair. And It was really really good. I have had better at some other places, but still one of the best I had. The reason I think it won is because the chili was tempura style which is different from the others. Overall I believe this place is a gem in the Duke City. read more

Visiting from Phoenix and went here with a couple friends. We had one beer each and moved on. There is nothing remarkable about the food or beer here, just another local brew pub trying to make a buck off mediocre beers. I had the nut brown ale, and tasted the amber and the lager. The nut brown stood out the most to me. It had the most complex flavor. The others were like they were pulled from the same tasteless recipe book so many local brew places use. Service was good at the bar, but it was a weekday and the place was slow. Ordered a plate of hot wings, 6 on the plate, ate 4. They were not cooked to a nice crisp and they had barely been sauced. My guess, they are just pouring Frank's Red Hot sauce on them. Again, nothing setting this place a part from all the other brew pubs popping up all over place. Won't return. read more

Alien Brew Pub - Stoped in for a "night cap". The brain hemorrhage was fun, & tasty... not super high on alcohol. Great service, friendly and fun!! - Burgers Near Me - Albuquerque, New Mexico

What looked like an annoying chain restaurant ended up having more thoughtful food than expected. They have two different green chile cheeseburgers - an $8 burger and the fancier "Southwestern" burger for $13. The two are the same except the more expensive one has bacon, more meat, and chipotle aioli along with a different bun and different green chili. Each burger had its benefits. The more expensive burger had a superior bun, but didn't need the aioli and bacon. The cheaper burger had roasted chiles which was better than the tempura-fried chile which only tasted like grease. They asked for doneness and came correctly rare. The char-grilled beef was good, but not unique. The combination of flavors was the best thing about each burger. Given the ingredients they had, it would be hard to make a better burger, but they need to up the quality of ingredients like replace the lame cheese and get a better grind of beef. Really, they'd only need to change to attract foodies like me which is not their target diner. The sweet potato fries were better than most, but over salted. The beer-battered onion rings were large, but had uncooked flour from the fry coating. The bartending needs work. The Basil Hayden bourbon neat was shaken and strained through on ice. Clearly a mistake was made and really should have not been served. This is not a "wine bar" as tagged on Yelp. read more

This place was below average. I live in Denver and was in town on business and went here for dinner. I ordered the Green Chilli burger with sweet potato fries. The good was actually decent but the rest of the experience wasn't the best. They have 4 TV's in front of the bar but one plays music videos and the other rolls ads and they can't change them. In addition, I tried three different beers they had in tap and none were very good. Also, the beer wasn't cold and the little disc on the bar they have to keep your drink cold does nothing. Overall it's not great. read more

Great beer. Great food (I scarfed my alien burger down so fast). But it was very loud, I had to yell over the table at my guest. My server was terrible, no one took our orders for a long time until he came over and unreluctantly took it. Never checked up on us, got one of our cups to refill it but never came back with it, left us the check and then never came back to get my card until another waitress asked if we were ready to check out and leave. read more

Quirky little place. I went I about an hour before close, they run a separate late night menu. Flights of beer are reasonably priced at 5 bucks for 4- 4 Oz samples. Neat feature at the bar is that they have a cooler pad at each seat to keep your beer chilled if you are a slow poke like me. I am generally a dark beer drinker. The milky way I liked, the rest I could have taken or left. 8 to 10 beers to select from. Late night menu is meh, but that is what I get for waiting until 10pm for dinner. Standard bar food on the regular menu, decent salad selection. read more

I went here on a recommendation from a few friends who couldn't say enough good things. Needless to say I was disappointed and surprised at the ratings. A few things: Ambience: I like the place. Cute touches but the live music was so loud I couldn't enjoy the company I was with. They kept messing with the lights around the bar so it was nice and then it was really dark...and then it was bright. Annoying! It was a Saturday night, they should have lighting figured out early. Food: I ordered the Seared Ahi from the Tapas menu. The portion was surprisingly big for the price but there was way too much Lemon Caper Aioli. Bleh! I was scraping the sauce of the fish because i couldn't taste what I actually ordered. We ordered fries too. They came piping hot but they were limp. Boo...no crispy fries. Food was less than average. Drinks: We ordered two specialty drinks...one with elderflower liqueur and then another...both were watered down and read much better on the menu. Maybe they should stick to beers. Service: Good service...not great but not bad. Overall: I wouldn't go back. Disappointing and there are other places I would rather spend my money. read more

just wanna start this with, please give places a second chance despite a string of bad reviews. also i don't like beer and this isn't about their beer. 2-3 years ago this used to be my spot. i had my partner come into town and i wanted to show them one of my favorite spots. we read the yelps and i was worried but i decided to trust my gut and i'm glad i did. we came on a friday night and it was steady in there but not too busy. in past visits, we were greeted at a podium and sat down, but it seems to be seat yourself? either way, they still have the podium so i waited there until we were told we could sit anywhere we like. personally i like to make sure i'm seen before i sit anywhere to avoid most of the problems the bad reviews had. our server was kind, i can't remember her name, but i believe she might have been the only one, but there might have been another. realizing this was the case, i made sure to enjoy my time with my partner so that if there was an "excessive wait", it wouldn't be so bad because she's alone and we aren't in a hurry. she got took our drink order, a Jupiter cocktail and a sprite (although the sprite was a bit flat, might have been sierra mist?), and cafe back and took our food order, mozzarella wedges and chicken tenders with curly fries and ranch and red hot wing sauce. the mozzarella wedges were delicious, crispy and flavorful on the outside, gooey and warm on the inside and the marinara was tasty and not just average tomato sauce. the chicken tenders were so sooo crunchy and the insides were hot and juicy!! the curly fries were a bit overdone, but i was so satisfied with the rest that i didn't even mind. the atmosphere was so quiet that my partner commented on it, i'm assuming they were expecting a louder time haha. i may have seen 4 total workers and i suppose that can be frustrating during busier times, but i saw they were doing the best they could and i felt that we were taken care of fairly well. i will be returning here again and i suggest that others read this and then go visit and make decision for yourself. read more

We were in Albuquerque to attend the Glowup at the Balloon Fest. We are huge Chiefs fans so we wanted to watch the game before hopping on the Park N Ride to the Balloon park (located just across the street from the pub.). I believe the gal who assisted us was Courney and she was amazing. I think she ran the entire thing by herself, but she really kept up well, and never made us feel like she was hassled. She had such an awesome attitude and spirit about her! My husband order the full flight of the 8 beers. I had wine - I mention this because sometimes brewpubs don't serve wine, so for me, this is important! The rest of our group joined us later and they enjoyed beer selections and we all then had lunch. Our group had the green chile hamburger, the philly dip and the nacho fries. It was extremely busy for a Wednesday, not sure if that's normal or not. The food choices are simple and fairly basic, I had a pretzel ($5) and a patriot sandwich ($9) both were overpriced for what I received. I'd really like to leave a 2.5 star review. In short: The pub fare is well above average The cocktails are super weak (my wife who gets tipsy after one drink thought her margarita tasted like water) I think there is better micro-brew beer in town The atmosphere is rustic-hipster. Conclusion: Great spot to meet up for lunch or dinner. It's not my first choice. read more

I had their highly rated award wining southwestern burger. I can't say it won any awards with me. More like highly overrated. And at 13.00 it's a huge flop. The state fair must have low expectations to give this burger an award. I've had much better at Red Robbins. The toppings tasted good but the beef was average and very dry , even though I asked for medium. The bun was more intimidating than the actual burger patty. The sweet potato fries taste better at fast food chains, they were very sad and I appealing .I'm super disappointed with this place. I'm not huge on writing negative reviews. Typically, if I go to a place and have a bad experience, I'll usually remind myself that accidents happen, people have off days, and you don't know all sides of the story. Heck, I've even chomped on a rock in my food, but the quality and service still led me to leave the place a 5-star review. However, this pub has a habit of consistently leaving me unsatisfied. Do you have any places that, personally, you're not so fond of, but your friends absolutely love it so you end up going anyway? That's this place for me. Total I've been here maybe around 5-6 times and each time there's always been something off. My first issue is that this place is really not vegetarian friendly (maybe that's changed, I've tried not to go too recently). Jalepeno poppers, finally a place with fresh jalepeno poppers! This appetizer looks so delicious (I bet it is), however, these poppers are wrapped in bacon. I was with some friends and we went there specifically to try them. I asked the staff if we could order half with the bacon on and half without bacon. They said they could not do that in the kitchen, but suggested that I just peel the bacon off because it's only on the outside. Maybe some vegetarians are okay with having their food fried within a big strip of meat juice, but that's just not for me. Another time I went was for someone's birthday dinner. I ordered the only thing that they could make vegetarian, the alfredo pasta. The menu says that it's a chicken alfredo dish, so I just ordered it without chicken. I did not expect what they brought out. They literally brought half a plate of alfredo pasta... THE PASTA WAS ACTUALLY IN A SEMICIRCLE TO ONLY COVER HALF A PLATE. About 5 bites for $14 + tip--no matter how unsatisfied I'll always leave a tip because I'm not a monster. And these are prices at a pub, not even an Italian restaurant. The other thing I'm not so crazy about are their brews. So, they carry their own and others on tap. However, I've only tried a couple of their home brews. The green chile one isn't bad, but not for me. I've wanted to try their sour beers, but they've always run out each time I've been. Perhaps this place delivers if you're a meat-eater, but vegetarians: beware. read more
