After a long week, I enjoy going to get something to eat that is good. Was hoping that going here and getting a good dinner meal would be it. Unfortunately, it was not the right choice. I wanted to try something new so I went with the rib meal with green Chile Mac n cheese and onion rings, those 2 were good. The ribs were not. They were dry and tasted old. Being that the meal was pricey, it was not worth the price. I have tried a lot with the menu and this was a real disappointment. the wait for the to go order was good, and waiting in the lobby area was comfortable. Didn't know there was a Range Cafe location in Los Lunas. Glad we stopped in. In my opinion, the original in Bernalillo is a favorite and this one is up there now too. Finally I tried their carrot cake and, as much as I love my late mother's and always will, this might have actually topped it! What a nice, well maintained restaurant. It has the usual cutesy cows and a range decorations for this chain of restaurants. The food and service was good. I ordered the taco salad with the shredded beef and green rice then, in lieu of the black beans. Both were missing from my dish. They had to go back to the kitchen to get sides of each! Ugh! Took a minute to flag dow our waiter to get the missing items. The cabacitas tacos were good, but nothing to write home about. Just missing a little something to jazz them up. My warmed up pecan gooey roll with its bazillion calories on a plate was mondo on size, sweet as you'd ever want, and decidedly something you will *not* mention to your nutritionist at your next office visit. It had lots & lots of chopped nuts on it, so that was good. Partner ordered two eggs over easy with green chile on the side and a single slice of toast. Eggs were as ordered. Green chile had plenty of spicy bite, but was thin & watery in texture. Toast arrived as a pair, not the single slice ordered. As at other Range locations, there was plenty of artwork on the walls, to include a full wall mural behind the counter. Cow motifs abound, as usual. We are extremely disappointed. We live in Albuquerque and we're on a road trip and we're very excited to see that a new range in Los Lunas. However, when we walked in, we waited and no one greeted us. We were told it would be 25 minutes wait because of a issue with the cooks in the kitchen we ordered a pastry and some drinks to sit at the bar while we waited. We got our pastry but no drinks and we're basically ignored. We finally decided it was not worth wait and left. read more

The range café is definitely one of my favorite places for breakfast. The food is always fresh and it's consistent. Right now with the whole Covid thing they do offer curbside pick up and I believe dining is open but it is limited. The service is always great. I was first introduced to The Range Cafe 10+ years ago by a good friend at the original Bernalillo location. This cafe is a locally grown business serving New Mexican food. I was pleasantly surprised to drive past and see a location here in Loa Lunas, so we decided to give it a try. The ambience has its own stand out feel, but still ties in nicely with the other Range Cafe locations. The bar area is simply beautiful and the food was just as good as I remember from years ago. Place wasn't busy, but was clean and they greeted us and sat us quickly, which I thought was a good indication that we would have a good experience. Well I was hoping for a good breakfast here but it wasn't to be! This place is overpriced and has very poor food. I walked in at noon and there were only two or three people eating in the entire restaurant. That should have been a signal to me to go somewhere else. I ordered sausage and eggs. When my server delivered it to my table it was a couple of eggs and a pile of sliced and burnt potatoes. And the sausage links were burt so I could barely cut them in half. Instead of two pieces of toast, you get one piece. Interesting to me is how places like this that charge more than most restaurants do for breakfast and then they try to cut everything out they can including a second piece of toast. We ate here for lunch on Good Friday. I got the fish and chips and my husband got eggs. The fish and chips are amazing!!! However, the five stars were for our server. He was great throughout the meal. He asked if we wanted dessert. I saw a fellow diner eating carrot cake and it looked good! I asked our server if it contained walnuts. He didn't know but he found out. (Unfortunately it did). As we were leaving, I saw the cookies at the front and ordered one. This looked like a regular cookie with no nuts but he wanted to make sure that it didn't contain ground nuts. He had to ask around but found out that it did! I'm so grateful. I really wanted to like the new restaurant in Los Lunas but the food was mediocre and overpriced. The waitress who served us was nice but really didn't tend to us. I had one glass of water because the waitress never refilled our glasses and she didn't ask until we were done with our meal. I'm also assuming they don't serve half orders and don't allow substitutions in just this location because we asked and the waitress told us they don't but in the Albuquerque location we visited they accommodated us. The Chile relleno was laughable. It was the the smallest relleno I've ever seen . I personally didn't like the roast beef style of beef they use in their dishes. I guess I expect just a little more service and a fatter plate for a dinner bill of $36 for two people before tip. read more

The food at the Range- Los Lunas is always good. So is ambiance. Service has been fine for most visits... until this evening. We are regular customers but today, my husband and I showed up for only dessert and coffee. We sat, ordered with our waitress and were pretty much ignored after that. The table next to us had a 70 ish dollar bill to pay. She announced it rather loudly for them, that's how I know. She gave them and others all the appropriate service for any restaurant but walked past us every time. The coffee was good as always, the desserts took forever. It's slice and serve. When they got to us they were in to go boxes. My husband didn't invite me out for a pie and coffee date in one of our county's better options for eating out, to eat out of a to go box. I asked the hostess to fix that. She was very kind in doing so. I don't need fine china and a personal servant. Simple service is plenty. When we got our desserts again, finally, our coffee was empty. After watching her go right past us again and again, I eventually called out "can we get some coffee?" "Yup I'll go get it" was the response as she walked away, no eye contact. We were almost done with dessert by the time she finally came around. We were conversing with the neighboring table when she filled the cups quickly and left. Honestly, it felt like she did not WANT to serve us at all. Very strange energy, but seemingly appropriate to everyone else. We never saw her again and had to ask up front for our bill. I had intended to ask the manager for more coffee but he was busy messing around with the hostess/cashier. I know it's Friday and everyone wants to go home. A personal servant is not expected but while prices are going up and a simple pie and coffee is a treat these days, It does not feel great to be intentionally ignored like that. If only the waitress were able to put a third of the time into simple coffee checks as she does on her eye make up (beautiful, by the way), there might be some hope left for a nice evening out for two. Went to the Range Cafe in Los Lunas NM for an early Mother's Day meal. Food was great, waitress was amazing, but the Hostess/General Manager was extremely rude and uncaring. We waited in line to be seated for quite a long time while she took care of a pie order and a door dash order. Three other families came in behind us waiting to be seated when one of the families cut in front of two of us and the hostess was going to seat them. I said loudly enough to be heard and a bit perturbed that we had been waiting for a long time first and that my mother had a broken hip/femur and needed to be seated. The Hostess/General Manager snapped back at me angrily to hold on and stop yelling in a public place. When I mentioned again that we had been first in line, she sarcastically said, "Well let's get you seated then." The gentleman who had cut in front apologized to me and said it was his fault, yet when the hostess came back to him, she apologized to him and never offered an apology to us. I later went up to her when she wasn't so busy and let her know of my disappointment as to how we were treated. She snapped again that it had been I who was rude and was rude to her. I let her know that I believed the fault was with her and that she was wrong. This is now way to manage an establishment not to treat your customers especially with an elderly injured person. May the Lord soften her heart and help her to be more attentive to those who are in her line. read more

We live 40 plus miles from the LL Range cafe. We LOVE this place!! The staff is amazing, knowledgeable and friendly. The kitchen is spot on. Food is hot and always as ordered.
