    Mona Lisa (get it hot)
    Vivek D.

For a food spot in Moynihan, Alidoro comes pretty close to its storefront superiors in NYC. I've always adored their sandwiches, when coming to work in the office post-COVID.(#1) I arrived at 1pm on a Wednesday evening and found it fairly quick too. That's a rarity compared to the storefront superiors(#2) and even Chopt nearby. I found the Mona Lisa (made HOT) on the menu. Only difference between now and a few years ago is that smoked mozzarella doesn't exist on any of the menus anymore, but at least I got fresh mozzarella. I decided to get the sandwich on a ciabatta bread(#3). Honestly, while the portion size doesn't match up to the storefront, it was pretty close. It felt nostalgic too. At least now I have a place to return to when transiting through Moynihan in the future. __________________________________________________________________________________ #1) fortunately and unfortunately, the post-COVID in-office visits ceased after July 2022. #2) yes, I'm talking about you, Bryant Park location #3) that was a nostalgic moment way back when #4) I'm paying homage to my former CM Jando (who probably still reads my reviews on the rare occasion even though he's in TX!)

This time at the station I decided to try something new. I was pleasantly surprised I am very glad I stopped here. The young lady at the front was very helpful and nice. She answered all my questions with a smile and added some good tips. After i placed my order i received a pager so i could go pick up some other things while i waited. That is much better than just standing waiting to hear your name called. I ordered two sandwiches the Turkey BLT and the Pinocchio. Both were tasty but by far the Pinocchio was a tasty and filling. I do recommend

The Gothamist, prosciutto, burrata, basil pesto, sun dried tomato past

These are some of the best sandwiches in NYC. My usual is The Gothamist: prosciutto, burrata, sun-dried tomato paste, lemon basil pesto $18. The perfect meal for a long Amtrak ride.

    Perfectly seasoned rare roast beef

This takeout stall located in Penn Station sell superb sandwiches. Service is not so good, but the product is excellent (I requested the black garlic mustard the side and they forgot it, and servers were bored and seemed stoned). The sando was superb: flavorful rare roastbeef is perfectly seasoned and served warm with melted cheese and mushrooms. The truffle aioli is delicious but a tad more would be nice. The semolina roll was fresh and perfectly balanced between its ceisp outer shell and pillowy soft inside. $20 is very high, but such is life in a city with crippling taxes.

Grabbed sandwiches to-go a few times now, on the road to Albany for work. Alidoro is my go-to at Moynihan station. Yes, even on a 8:30am train. Bc I save this delicious sando til I get to the boonies with no good food options; I get to feast on my giant Alyssa... makes one miss NYC very much. Always a short line, at the early hours... order, and pick up less than 10 mins. Delicious focaccia bread. Ladies are nice and packs the sandwich well. $18-19, good price for a giant sandwich that could easily be 2 meals for me. lol

Overall rating: 2 Price: $18.50 It is so annoying that I intended to go to Maman right next door & I thought to come here instead to try something new. I ordered the Giovanni and there was only 1 person ahead of me. But the wait maybe took 20 or so minutes. When I ate the sandwich it was not good. Subway is better. I didn't taste any pesto like the ingredients suggest & when I went back to get more - the staff gave me a weird look. They ended up giving me a side and I realized it indeed is not pesto. It's barely pesto mayo. I was so unhappy with the sandwich I went next door and got another sandwich at Maman instead. Do not recommend.

    Alidoro cold on focaccia
    Yuna C.

Have been wanting to try Alidoro for quite some time but didn't realize they had one at the Moynihan Train Station! There's a lot of sandwich options - once you choose your filling, you can select how you want your sandwich prepared (cold or hot) and the type of bread (ciabatta, seeded, whole grain, focaccia). I got the Alidoro cold with focaccia - I would say I'd get the focaccia warm but it helped balance out the hot peppers and hot spread. I've also tried the La Primavera hot with the seeded bread - really love the bread choice but the filling was a bit lacking. Nice to know they have meat lovers and vegetarian options - you can also create your own.

    Fratelli
    Jake Z.

Wow this place is extremely underrated. This was by far the best italian sandwich I've had in NYC (so far). I got the Fratelli because it was the most expensive item on the menu and it sure had a great ROI - the bread was nice and oily while the meat and spread was packed in perfect proportions. Can't comment much on the service or the ambiance but the food was amazing.

The ivy aka HSS on top of il sole
    Jordan C.

Quite possibly some of the best images I've ever eaten in my life. I wanted a hot summer sandwich, but it was not out yet, so I took a little spin on it, and even after myself, the Ivy. It has mortadella whipped ricotta hot honey pesto on focaccia bread, literally, my dream Chef AC really hooked it up for me! My friend got the il sole which was spicy but equally as delicious. There was some type of spicy jam on it. I don't know, but it was a fantastic and the bread out of this world. You guys have to give them a shot at any of their locations! I personally prefer the ambience of the train station myself

used to love this place when moynihan first opened but it seems they've fallen off. i usually go there when i have time to kill before a train but this time i ordered ahead since i had limited time. they forgot most of what i ordered on the sandwich, 3.50 for burrata, 1.50 for arugula, and .75 for a pickle on the side. the sandwich was literally just prosciutto and sauce. that is extremely unacceptable after paying almost $30 for a sandwich. never got any refund for the items I paid for and didn't get and there was no communication from staff about why those items were missing.

Note: Make sure you have time before you order, the item takes a wait while to pickup. They are famous for their sandwiches though on this day, I wanted a snack since I didn't eat lunch. I was debating between a sandwich and bombolinis (4 for $7). As it's 3PM, I won't be able to eat a whole sandwich and did not want to carry the leftover in the rain. I decided to get the bombolinis. Since I didn't specify the flavor, the employee ordered 4 pastry cream ones (the other flavor is chocolate hazelnut). I received the buzzer and when it was ready, the buzzer buzzed. Another employee gave me my food at the pickup window. The snack hit the spot and satisfy my hunger. Have to try the sandwiches next time.

Tiny tiny little breakfast sandwich ($8)
    Hannah M.

Had a pretty mediocre breakfast sandwich from here for about $8. I had the Carlo with egg, porchetta, and Parmesan. It was neither sizeable nor outstanding, but it did hit the spot. The porchetta was really tasty but it was overpowered by a passive egg patty that the teeny tiny bun could barely hold. They have quite a few egg sandwiches on the menu for breakfast, all of which with similar combinations of egg/meat/cheese. Honestly for the price I expected something at least 50% larger even given the location. Edit: I just saw another Yelper's pic of the same sandwich that's easily 2x the size of the one I got! What happened this AM?? With that said, the woman working was lovely and I do think they're more known for their lunch sandwiches, so I would consider trying it again. Just really didn't blow me away for breakfast.

Yesterday was my first time in the new Moynihan Train Hall and I was so impressed with the options at the Food Hall! I was looking for something quick that I could bring on the train with me and the sandwich options looked great at Alidoro! They have cold and warm sandwich options, as well as breakfast sandwiches served before 11. They also have a full coffee/tea bar. I went with the Gothamist sandwich, which is a cold sandwich with prosciutto, burrata, sun dried tomato paste, and lemon basil pesto. You can pick any bread to put it on and I went with the Whole Grain baguette. They give you a buzzer so you know when your order is ready. Mine was ready so quickly, which was great since I didn't have a ton of time before my train. The sandwich was HUGE and definitely big enough for two meals. This would be great for a long train ride. The flavor of the sandwich was PERFECTION. I loved the creamy burrata mixed with the prosciutto and spreads. You can tell they use really high quality ingredients. This is not your average sandwich spot and I'm already dreaming about getting their sandwich again!

Particularly the penne funghi is to die for. Tried the linguine vongole clam pasta for the first time and was pretty good as well! Just wish there was more sauce and the clams were the tiniest size I've seen which was disappointing and to make matters worse, a good 1/3 of them were empty. Besides that, the meal was delightful and still great value as it was delicious with huge portions! Love! However, service at this particular branch is nowhere near as good as other branches. I understand it's busy and it's always incredibly crowded with people and cramped seating and loud music/voices but this was like no other. When I arrived party of 2, they had nearly 5 tables empty and yet we couldn't sit at any of them because the had to wait for reservations to see if they arrived and we had to wait 15 min but they said they'd let us know. We were forced to sit at the bar which the giant metal can of alcohol bottles took up 1/2 my seating/dining area and no one bothered to move it or ask if that was okay because obviously it wasn't but the didn't care. We waited awhile for the food to come and during that time we asked if there really wasn't any table availability since tables clearly open and the denied again even though reservations never came. Literally 3 tables remains consistently empty throughout our entire dining experience confined to the cramped bar area. They even closed the door, separating the outdoor diners which was weird and it became insufferably hot inside, even on a cold windy day. Bathroom situation here is also terrible as it is downstairs with steep narrow stairs and me and other customers almost bumped into each other and staff carrying multitude of food dishes and dirty dishes up and down the stairs. Never have I ever had such an undelightful experience going to bathroom at a restaurant. Additionally, sink water pressure either had no water coming out or a giant spray of water making it impossible to wash hands without getting a whole shower. This location really needs work. Only reason why I'm not giving it five stars is because I love Fumo as a whole. Just skip this location.

We finished with the famous olive oil cake, which we loved for its subtly sweet, moist and tender bite. Served with lightly whipped cream and raisins, the combination was surprisingly delicious. We were also touched by the complimentary anniversary scoop of ice cream. The interior seating is a bit snug, but the decor is beautiful--elegant yet homey. The service was good as well. Overall, we highly recommend L'Artusi for a special night out!

L'Artusi has been on my radar for a while, ever since I heard it was a hot spot and saw reviews of…read moreit being one of the best Italian restaurants in NYC. Being Italian American, I'm hypercritical of spots like these - but nevertheless the positive reviews were overwhelming so I wanted to check it out for myself. One of my friends and I were looking to catch up, so I booked a table and off we went. While it can be tricky to get a reservation during prime dinner time, it's relatively easy to get a lunch reservation - or an early/late dinner. I managed to get a reservation for dinner at 9:15pm which was the earliest I could find. The restaurant is pretty unassuming on the outside - it looks like a converted brownstone and once inside we were greeted by a large space with a sceney vibe. The space is split between two levels with a large bar up front and a semi-open kitchen in the back. The decor was modern - with lots of greys and neutral tones which was a little unexpected. The main star of the menu is pasta, but they also have a few non-pasta mains as well as some crudo selections, apps, and sides. We decided to get a few apps, two pastas, and one side. To start, we went with the octopus, roasted mushrooms, burrata crostone, and focaccia. These were all really good, but my favorite was the mushrooms. I'm usually not a fan of mushrooms but these were prepared with red pepper and fried egg and were delicious; it cut through the earthiness and changed the texture to something I really enjoyed. The focaccia was also a standout - it's house made and was paired with a peppery oil that complemented the bread well. For mains we split two pastas - the caccio e pepe and the rigatoni. Both of these were very good, though I felt the rigatoni was the stronger dish. It was prepared with sausage ragu, soppressata, broccoli rabe pesto, and pecorino. The flavors worked really well together and the pasta was cooked al dente. The caccio e pepe was perfectly fine, I just feel it's been overplayed and didn't feel there was anything that stood out amongst the others I've tried. We also got a broccoli rabe as a side which was great. We couldn't leave without dessert and decided to get their olive oil cake and quattro formaggio cheesecake. The restaurant is known for the former - it was perfectly fine but I've had olive oil cakes elsewhere of the same or better quality. The cheesecake was the stronger dessert IMO - the combination of cheeses gave it an interesting, almost savory flavor. The brûlée top and mascerated strawberries were great texture and flavor complements. Service was great - the place was packed but service was consistently on point and everyone was friendly. Overall, I had a good experience at L'Artusi. While everything was very good, I'm struggling to find the exact reason why this place became such a hot spot compared to other Italian spots in the city. Nevertheless, you'll have a good meal here and I would definitely return if given the opportunity.

Second the waiter who took our order was polite and on point with specials and knowledge of the menu. He (just never caught his name) suggested the Rigatoni which chicken and sausage.
