Alice's Diner is a small diner on the Fall River/Tiverton line and it's absolutely fantastic! The owner Alice is so sweet and she prides her diner on having an almost entire menu available in Gluten Free options. You can of course order it with gluten if you desire but my girlfriend has a gluten sensitivity and it's difficult to find good local spots to be able to enjoy GF food. 5-stars, we will absolutely visit again soon. Horrible service and we will never order from them again. I placed an order through them on door dash for a steak and cheese grinder, a banana crepe, malasadas, and a cinnamon roll. When I say you're better off saving your money and ordering your food from any other place in the city, you truly are. The food looked and tasted mediocre. On doordash, the grinder is said the come with French fries and didn't. The manager proceeded to tell me that it normally doesn't which isn't true. The "Crepe" is a pancake with nothing in it besides the fruit you want chopped up. And the fried dough and cinnamon roll were over fried and burnt. read more

Was looking for a breakfast spot and saw this place was gluten free, so I had to come in It's in a small space, parking is on the street or in a lot across the street. We grabbed a table when we walked in, no wait and were given drinks and menus quickly I opted for the chorizo and eggs with a side of gluten free toast and a gluten free malassadas. I was so excited I see they had them, been years since Ive had one and I missed them Breakfast was good, solid egg place. The malassadas stole the show. It was so good I couldn't tell it was gluten free. Was light and airy just like the ones I remember from years ago. The gluten free menu is quite expansive with lots of choices for breakfast and lunch. My breakfasts (omelets) have been delicious and satisfying and I can't wait to try meals from the lunch menu! First the place looks run down and not clean. The fries were greasy and cold. The Fish tasted like frozen store bought. The Club sandwich is suppose to have 3 slices of bread. Cut in quarters. The dining room is small and cramped, and though the joint was hardly hopping, there was only one table available. The waitress was chatting with a regular and took a while to bring us menus. I asked for water, she brought me a bottle for which of course there was a charge. Boo. I was quickly distressed to learn that the menu options differed from those shown online, which is stressful for me since I tend to frequent restaurants where I can plan my order ahead. No shrimp Mozambique and no malasadas, both of the two things I'd planned on ordering. Luckily I did ask the waitress about the malasadas, and she said she'd ask the cook to make one. I ordered the S.O.S., which was underwhelming. The hamburger sauce was almost totally flavorless, and I had to add significant salt to enjoy it at all. The eggs were perfectly poached though, which was a nice surprise since restaurants can pretty regularly get those wrong. The malasada was cooked perfectly too and had a great texture, however the flavor was... fishy, and I'm pretty sure it got cooked in the same oil as their seafood. While I'm grateful I got something technically off-menu I'd have preferred a nonexistent malasada to a haddock-flavored one. The check took quite some time to come thanks to more regulars-chatting. Forty bucks for three people is more than I like to pay for dive breakfast, especially of disappointing quality. Hidden gem in Fall River. We almost didn't go because it looked small and a bit uninviting from the outside. However, after reading the other reviews we headed in. Hubbie and I used to have breakfast here frequently, but hadn't been back in a couple of years or so. I remember it as a little bit run down, so it was nice to see a fresh coat of paint and framed prints on the wall and cool new chairs. But enough about aesthetics, let's get down to what's really important: the food and service! Service - There are usually two waitresses working when I go, which is plenty because, even though it's usually full, it's not too big of a place. If you need something, though, it's not hard to get your server's attention. I believe this is a family-run place and you can feel it because the servers make you feel like family, too - very friendly and warm. Food - This is really what sets Alice's apart from other breakfast joints. #1 - the food is always high quality and cooked perfectly; #2 - it's not just a breakfast joint, they have lunch specials including fish and chips, grinders, steak, etc. Also, the menu has expanded quite a bit since the last time I was there. Everything sounds really yummy; and #3 gluten-free menu!! That's the biggest draw. I would even guess that Alice or a family member has celiac disease because it's a pretty serious endeavor to provide typically gluten-laden food (e.g. pizza, bread, desserts) as gluten-free. Value - You can't beat it, period. Great prices on everything. $15 (and that's including tip) for a big breakfast for two adults. We definitely won't let another two years (or two months!) go by again. We'll be back much more often to try more from that big ol' menu! read more

This place is a real hole in the wall. BUT the atmosphere is friendly and comfortable, if a bit dingy. There were people smoking cigarettes outside of the place which was disgusting. The waitress was very friendly almost to the point of being annoying. The food is better than average, good, cheap breakfast. I had banana pancakes which were awesome. Husband had an egg breakfast which was also pretty good. We had some gluten free muffins which were awesome. It was great to find a place gluten free for our friends. Alice's Diner remains one of my favorite breakfast destinations. Service is great. Portions are hearty. Seasoning / taste is to my liking. The menu has plenty of variety but isn't overwhelming. Compared with other breakfast places in the area this place is at the top of the list (some are WAY to pretentious without the food quality to back it up, some try too hard, some have too many items on the menu and none are well executed). It looks like store front diners did back in the 60's, with handyman special quality work, tiny eating area packed with locals, duct tape on the through wall air conditioner, and a commercial ceiling mount heater peeking through a framed opening in the wall carrying heat from the kitchen into the eating area. Old pop music playing on a small radio... Colorful patrons and family atmosphere make this place worth the effort to check out. The Belgian waffle with berries is wonderful. The home fries are good. But overall it's pretty mediocre. Definitely don't get the Briskets and Gravy (very disappointing). And when I told them I was disappointed with the dish they said I still had to pay for it. It would've been nice for them to at least offer a replacement. read more
