The menu stated a $2 plate sharing fee, but we don't remember being charged for a mom and child sharing an order. Ines Albernaz owned her own restaurant on Swansea, MA where great Portuguese food was served every day and she brought that good cooking go this iconic restaurant where she cooked for decades and I was lucky enough to enjoy for a very long time. Despite her passing in 2013 the restaurant continues to serve the same good food that I've come to love over the years. The St John's Athletic Club has been for many years and is similar to several other athletic clubs around Fall River where the bar, and its members would gatherto watch soccer which was the centerpiece of these establishments. However over the years this place, while still having a bar, has evolved into a full service restaurant for family dining. My last visit was for my favorite Portuguese Steak, it is a Delmonico steak seared and cooked in a spiced sauce with garlic and peppers. It's served with fried eggs, crazy good fries and rice with the peppers and garlic in top and some Portuguese bread, it's awesome! My next favorite is the shrimp Mozambique, I cook that myself but it is so unique and delicious that it's always a real treat. Other great dishes to try are Pork and little necks, Fish & chips (they serve flounder, not cod, love it), chourcio sandwiches and the daily specials like clam boils or octopus are great too!
